  • I had a great moment.. My sister that raises great pyrees, asked me if crunchy would remember her...Crunchy never forgets an owner...My sister kept crunchy for a year. He was so happy to see her after 2 years and he didn't forget his training....he jumped up beside her and kept jumping until she petted him. Standard Poodle rule.....

  • i have Oliver with me for a lil less than 3 years, he is the best pet that i ever have, is so smart, thoughtful, loving, he loves to bark like crazy. but when he looks at me with those amazing black eyes i can do nothing but love him more and more. God bless Gus, im sure he is in doggies heaven barking and wagging his tail

  • @formagieri Thank you so much for your kind words! Standard poodles are called 'the human dog' and rightfully so. We loved having Gus - just a prince of a dog ... God bless you and Oliver with many more years than we had Gus!

  • All such lovely, great looking dogs. I have an 8 month old Standard Poodle, they really are a wonderful, kind, loyal, loving & friendly breed.

  • @omgbabiesatemydingo Thoroughly agree! They are fantastic dogs ... they don't do stupid funny things like our former dogs ... Gus was dear in his routines and habits. He never barked to go out ... he'd just sit near me calmly and give me a quiet but urgent look. Fantastic dog - fabulous breed. Highly, highly, highly recommend ... !

  • So very sorry for your loss, so young too! Our std. is getting up there, 13, and I know someday soon we will lose her too, and I don't know if I could get another dog. She's the best dog I've ever had, and I've had dogs all my 50 years. Poodle Rule!!!

  • @bk2pla Thank you so much ... it's been a year and a half and I still miss Gus - his being there - his gentle movements past me - his darling way of living - his company - and the sound of his feet clambering down the steps along side of me whenever I'd go downstairs! My husband feels he doesn't want to go through losing another dog, so we are on hold ... if/when we get another, we both very much want another standard poodle!

  • Such a wonderful breed of dog. Great in so many ways, expensive to keep groomed but so worth every penny! Poodle-Love :)

  • Look at all the poodles! This is my dream dog, so beautiful and smart. Someday I will have one of these wonders as a room mate lol =)

  • Respond to this video...

I hope the day is soon, Lord willing, when you will have a standard poodle of your own! Gus died months after this at age five. We remain VERY thankful for such a wonderful pet ... It is a great consolation knowing his video is bringing happiness to so many people

    !

  • Thank You for replying. I'm sorry for your loss, but you'll always remember Gus I'm sure =) I have always wanted a standard poodle though, their so unique from other dogs, and smart as well. I have been doing my research and saving my money for the poodle itself and lots of toys, beds and treats lol. It will surely be a blessing of a pet. =)

  • @MissGarland20 Let me know, please, if your dream comes true! From what we experienced, this breed is worth the investment ... just amazing dogs!

  • Just out of curiosity, how much do these breeds usually cost? I have looked online and there aren't many listed in my area, some about 1 to 3 hours away and that's fine, so I have some base prices but I'm still unsure. I don't want to pay a too expensive price, but I want a good breeder who cares deeply for the dog so I don't want to pay a cheap price for a sick, unhealthy or even mean puppy. If you don't mind telling that is. Thank You =)

  • @MissGarland20 There were standards up to $3,500 in Wisconsin. I bought Gus for less than a fourth of that - but that may have been the problem the vet felt. There was previously undisclosed inbreeding - but by then we were picking him up and had researched this all to pieces. The breeder I was most impressed with online and on the phone was Shiloh Gardens in Montana. I thought I would save money, but a healthy dog of this caliber is probably well worth the extra expense!

  • I have seen a few prices that seem good to me, but I am going to try and arrange meeting the dogs before I even think of paying my hard earned cash for a sick baby. Inbreeding is common in high name dog breeds, it ensures the "desired traits" of the dog some people think. It's very common in hunting hound groups, but thank you for all your insight, I appreciate it, wish you well! =)

  • @MissGarland20 You are wise to meet the dog and breeder - and talk with their vet - etc... I thought we had done very thorough research. However, the breeder was not honest with me over the phone for weeks about inbreeding ... On the day of pick up, the paperwork disclosed the true story. By then I was holding the puppy, exhausted by the search process, and eager to house train a dog before winter ... Fortunately Gus was a sensational dog and we enjoyed him greatly for five good years.

  • @MissGarland20 Gus was on the cheap end at about $750 ... cheap, however, included some inbreeding we were not aware of until we were holding him in our arms and paying for him a couple hours away from town. Yes, I had asked about inbreeding ahead of time, but ... The inbreeding, the vet felt, was likely why he died so young. All this to say, I would encourage you to research well and pay what you need to ...

  • SERIOUSLY: This is the best video I've seen so far. Poodles with nice fur playing around. Just having a great time instead of being shaved and dyed and treated like a puppet. Well done!!!!!

  • @RoteFedern I'm so blessed that you enjoyed the video! The party was a real hoot. The gal in the poodle sweatshirt held it for her oldest dog, Reuban - an agility champ and veteran therapy dog. She wore rabbies tag (or dog tag?) earrings, made that wonderful cake - which I assumed was for people, but it was all dog food!, etc.. It was held at the local kennel club facility and everyone had a wonderful day!

  • They look so happy

  • I've never seen so many standard poodles in one place in my life O.O

  • IMO, they look so much better with the tails clipped.

  • APB5 - sorry about your loss. I lost my 8 year old black girl to a hemangiosarcma in July 2009. Its doesn't get any easier unfortunately.

Awesome party...would love to bring my two red heads to the next one!

  • I assumed that the birthday party was what was "standard." You know, just your everyday birthday party like every poodle has...

  • So many poodles!! I would be running around trying to squeeze them all <3

  • FUN!!!

  • Haha, "At least get their picture and they can all be photoshopped together!"

This looks like it was fun.

I'm terribly sorry about your loss<3

  • @Pefffin

    Dear Pefffin,

Thank you very much. We miss him a lot, of course, he was an absolutely wonderful dog. Knowing he is still bringing people joy through this video remains a consolation!

  • @Pefffin Thank you very much, Pefffin - This was a delightful day indeed ... losing Gus really has been a loss - amid a year of losses! God bless you for your kindness!!

  • Gus died about two weeks ago - unexpectedly of what appeared to be cancer - just shy of his sixth birthday. He was a fabulous dog; his whimsical and intelligent ways were well integrated into our daily life. We are thankful this video remains and his life can continue to bless others!

  • @APB5 I loved my crazy standard poodle- also lost to cancer at 6. I've never loved anything so much in my life.

  • @Canichenoir

    Dear Canichenoir,

God bless you ... I know, these dogs are just high class.

  • poodles are one of the greatest dogs ever. A family i nanny for has a standard poodle named Chino. He is so gentle and sweet!!

and she has her own opinion.. oho..

  • i have a poodle- she's great : o)

    i love poodles..

  • @blackdaygirl We think we would never want another kind of dog after having Gus ... and he's not even the best behaved and certainly not the calmest poodle ever born! They're great!

  • I love all of them they look so happy!

  • I love all of them they look so happy!

  • Wow. I've never seen so many standard poodles at once! Very Cute!

  • @BBH2100 It really was delightful - kind of a thrill - to be in the middle of so many elegant dogs prancing about! I'm so glad you enjoyed the film!

  • Oodles and oodles of precious poodles. I love it!

  • @compubumpkin We think we would never want another kind of dog after having Gus ... and he's not even the best behaved and certainly not the calmest poodle ever born! They're great!
