All the pets I've ever had have been from shelters.

Although puppies and kittens are crazy adorable, I'd rather help an animal that's really in need of someone.

And knowing you've saved an animal makes the pet that much more dear to your heart.

I didn't save a dog but I did save a cat that was looking for food thought some trash on my street I lived on. Still have her and her kittens which now are adults.

Oh, Yeah I still have them. I adopted two kittens out, one of the kittens that I really like died because he had a heart attack when he was given anaesthesia. He was a really smart cat too. Oreo's cute! Puppy's have loads of energy to begin with anyhow. Not to mention he's probably been kept in a confined space for so long (with the exception of short walks.) Most of the time this is inevitable due to the lack of resources, volunteers and the large population of animals in shelters.

This series is such a good idea! I actually work at my shelter. The holding facility for the animal control is at the veterinary that I work at. I don't understand why more people don't adopt from shelters. I guess what people really don't know is that when you buy from a pet shop or a breeder and don't adopt from a shelter, an animal doesn't get saved and that just means that one more dog is euthanized instead. There is not enough room at the shelters to hold all of the animals that need homes!
