I know what you mean. I live in Tampa and the old fronton is now a home depot. The lottery here in Tampa really killed the sport here locally along with a players strike. In never recouped from that here.
no, jai alai is absolutely gorgeous, requires every skill. that ball is hard as a rock and when it is thrown from the cesta (the basket) it is going about 150 mph. The front wall is gunnite. very, very dangerous and exciting.

That's too bad. They used to have Fronton's in Milford CT and Bridgeport, which are both not far from NYC, but they closed years ago.
