Hi i just got version 1.0 and i have pro tools m-powered 8. i"m able to bring up the interface for rapture, but no sound is recorded or playing. can someone please help? i'm using windows xp sp 3.
Excellent demonstration. I have the LE of RAPTURE in Sonar X1, but I was wondering if it's worth upgrading to the full version, when you already have Dimension Pro. I would like to keep things minimal, but have a complete sonic palete. I haven't even explored the other synths included with Sonar yet (new user).
Can I just install cakewalk to laptop and use Roland Juno D synth with Midi and manipulate the sound from the synth or do i need a actual DAW or DAW SOFTWARE OF SOME SORT. Please help. I am trying to best the best possible sound from this. Something close of ebm and aggrotech. Im not to good with software. Thanks.

What if I wanted the sound to stop after I let go of the key? For example, harmonic smear in the video, you pushed the note once and it continued forever, that happens with most of the sequences and pads but I don't want it to continue. How can I make that happen?
@ps3xploit The reason the pads are sustaining after the key is let go is because the sustain pedal is being held down. If you don't hold the sustain pedal, the sound will stop when you let up off the key.
@ps3xploit ah i know what u mean.. no sustain pedal.. its the Release of the preset.. there are knobs somewhere at the vst.. like.. attack, sustain.. and release, this is the one u want to know^^
cant get the ACT thing to work.......?? press the button...move the onscreen knobs with the mouse......wiggle my xboard25 knobs...= zero.....movement??
@DrRedeemerPL Rapture is astandalone synthesizer or 'VST' made by Cakewalk. Brandon has setup the keyboard in this video as a MIDI device within SONAR and is playing the synth through it.
@CakewalkSoftware Yeah man I'm not as stupid to think what software is he using ;D i'd have to be blind or sth. I ask about that midi device not VST ;D you know.... that in 1:32 in lower left corner
does it work with ableton live 8? I bought the download version 1.1 but I can´t see it in my vst folder! All my other plugins are running... hope you have an answer for me!
I have Rapture and while I love what it can do with analog synth sounds, when I try to bring in my own waves (a multi sampled piano), Rapture wont allow me to assign root keys nor can I have all the samples on board at once. Is bringing in multisamples a no no? I do this easily in any other software based sampler
if u experience delay from when u press the keys too when the sound plays just get ur asio card and adjust the buffer rate too stop latency it works fine this plugin is sick :)
You goto Cakewalk's website and goto support and get to the rapture page. You click on the 1.1 update and then you type in your registration number (the one you needed to activate the software) This lets you download the update.
I don't know if Rapture 1.0 works on Vista but it doesn't matter if you update it before using it.
I'm starting to produce elctro pop and I'd like to know which of this you think is better for electronic music. I am trying to choose between RApture, Nexus, Zrebra II, and logic. I would apreciate your opinion to help me decide. THANKS!
nexus is not good for electropop (what do you mean with electropop wich style?), logic is a sequencer (DAW) if i were you rapture, which DAW do you use?
How much does this product cost? It sounds awesome. By the way, do you need all of the piano and synth equipment (like he has), or can you just use a normal Yamaha PSR-275?
If you want to play just the Rapture, all you need is a MIDI keyboard or MIDI equipped keyboard that connects to your computer and has drivers for Windows or Mac.
However, most producers use more than just one source of sound: digital (like VSTs), digital-analog (like external Romplers) and pure analog (like moog, Alesis Andromeda).
From my experience, you need at least 1 good hardware sound module to sound full overall since most software plug-ins don't have the warmth yet.
i have a midi guitar and use a digidesign mbox 2 for the input to protools could i run rapture through protools and use the sythns off that instead of using a standard midi keyboard. i want to start using my guitar for live situations and posibly use the sythns i have created using rapture.
Hi Cakewalk, I just tried out the old verion of rapture and it sounds amazing! Gotta check out this update. I made some killer trance sounds on that synth :) If I change my mind about a virus c, this will be the first softsynth that I will buy!
The reason, why I haven´t got it is that it´s bit pricey... well, in fact, everything is pricey, when you haven´t got enough money for that. Tested thing.
you can load wave files but it's not a softsampler. It's a soft synth. it's just a very phat sounding wavetable synth. When you load a wave file it only plays the first cycle or so and not the entire file.
I bought Sound Synthesis and Sampling by Martin Russ as well as the Cakewalk presets book, and some of this stuff is still so hard to grasp. I just got Rapture yesterday and I fucking love it. Can you tell what your set up is? (Midi interface, computer processor, everything)
I've gotta know, it looks like there's no delay from when you hit the keys on the keyboard to when you hear the sound. Right now I'm getting a slight .1 second delay, using a MIDI to USB converter. Have you experienced and solved this problem?
What he's playing is not a song, but only a music pattern that could be used in part of a song or composition. You would add melody, percussion, chords, etc, and arrange it all into a complete song using a sequencer like Sonar. The sound he is making would be suitable in a trance piece.
The new edirol controllers are pretty awesome, especially if you use SONAR because they have a dedicated button for enabling ACT. The action is good, it feels good to play.
What is the point of showing off a synth with a low quality video? A video like this should have the very best audio quality!

Well this is just a guy showing off what it can do but telling you very little about how to use it.
Pressing F1 with Rapture in focus does nothing. So it's hours and hours of trial and error.
Or you buy one of their videos - hoping it will be of more use...Clever aren't they?

@999osma1 No, Rapture is a virtual synth. You'd want SONAR for the actual recording of guitars, etc.

ok can someone please answer 2 questions 4 me.
1. do you need a fancy keyboard to play it, mine works for cakewalk but it has no special nobs.
2. is this part of cakewalk or what?
thank you for you're participation please press reply because i wont get the message if you do not
lbIeesel 2 years ago
1) No, any midi controller that can send midi data to your computer can play it.
2) It's made by Cakewalk, but you can use it on most Mac or PC midi programs. Anything that accepts standard VST, RTAS, AU, DXi synths

ok so i bought Rapture but there is another thing called SONAR... i have it up, SONAR i mean not Rapture, and i don't know how to get Rapture up...
thanks again for answering my problems.

I own Rapture, and its very good. Its not the easiest to use, but gives a huge number of channels 6 in all, and effects, etc.
I wish you people had remembered we Hearts Of Space type composers.
But, with effort I can get some great morphing and effects.
