Along with most people, i believe that he would have won. Although, he made the better decision by taking the contract that made him drop out at top 3, giving Kalan Porter the chance to have his spotlight, because jake knew that he would get his time to shine as well. It just so happens that him and his band became more successful than any other idol on both american and canadian.

Uhh... as I remember, Jacob didn't quit the show, he was voted out in third place. Though I do remember hearing something about him not wanting to win, and I definitely remember him wearing Hedley shirts on air. Either way, he's definitely been the most successful of any of the CI contestants.

I watched the entire show of "Canadian Idol- Season 2". Jacob Hoggard DID NOT drop out.. he was voted off. Him quitting or dropping out was just a rumour - due to a controversial 'journal' that he had posted on the original 'hedley' message board. It was taken down very quickly. I have saved all the journal entries ('blog' as we now call it)but I never got the impression that he intended to quit. He is not a quitter -- how could he, he was having so much fun on that show!

who knows what's true - I heard that in his blog he alluded to quitting, more like because it was all too much, too fast. He did sing during the Top 3 and he did great, just as Kalan and Theresa. the song that made me go, wow i love her voice was the group performance by the top 3 "in your eyes" and the true colors... but I felt she didn't do so well compared to jacob and kalan.

Theresa was great in her genre, not so great in others. Jacob was so uninhibited and likable and with a distinctive voice and hordes of fans. Kalan was just the most consistent one - the guy can sing anything! Theresa, in an interview after Idol said that all the other Idols knew Kalan was the frontrunner from the get go. I fully expected a Kalan vs Jacob finale, but it wasn't meant to be. I guess Theresa had a huge fanbase too! Anyways, it was the best season ever!
