@M2MiniMal I seem to remember you CAN import .WAV files into this app, and export as well, in various formats. It's got most of the features you'd want from such a thing. ;-)
@Sam111111 they are both good, so that's a matter of opinion ;-) essentially, TNRi is a near perfect clone of the hardware. Aurora has gone in it's own direction - watch more videos and see which is more appealing to you. Or if you really like this type of app? Just get both. ;-) And of course, Beatwave, which is free!
@Sam111111 Give it some time to get used to. It's a different way of thinking about sequencing. Seriously, it has taken me a year to really understand it ( I bought a hardware Tenori-on before this app came out. ) Instead of "asking it to be like something else" enjoy it for what it uniquely IS ( the same could be said for a Kaossilator ) - use the features that it has that most other sequencers cannot match - ( 16 layers, each running in their own seperate time signatures??? etc. ) Patience
@VJFranzK I'll try. It's hard to do, though, especially with iSequence just sitting there happily. But the time signature thing is definitely pretty big.
@VJFranzK I'm a big fan of your tutorials .... thanks. I did get the TNR-i and I love it but a year later I'm still on the fence about getting the Aurora Sound Studio HD. I bought the one for the iPhone the day it came out and was disappointed at the cost of the iPad version when it was released so I've been waiting and hoping for a sale but no luck. So with all that said .... do think it's still worth getting this? I like that you can export your song to WAV which I can't do with the TNR-i
@marlenedegrood if you have the non HD aurora, it's mostly the same as the larger version? I expect they'll add more features to TNR-i in upcoming versions, a .wav export would of course be a great idea
@VJFranzK I was figuring it was much the same except I think you get more tweaking of instruments in the HD version (not sure). Yes ... TNR-i WAV export is really needed .... right now I'm playing my saved TNR-i recordings into Ableton Live to record them. Thanks for the reply.
@marlenedegrood yes, there are some advantages - the screen arrangement is better and the menus are easier to use, for one. See my other video (and the official one) to contrast. If you are really into Aurora it's worth buying the other one. (Just think how much more a hardware Tenori-on costs ;-) But it is great to have one! )
@Edwhatever I HAVE an HP touch PC - ;-)> and it's JUNK compared to an Apple machine. (Though an iPad is technically not a laptop, so it's not a 1 to 1 comparison.) The touch screen is so inaccurate, it's nearly (literally) pointless. The OS is not optimized for touch anyway, so everything is too small. The hard drive was flawed from arrival? and died 6 months in. After the HD was fixed, now the graphics are dead. Since Macs can run Windows when needed, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PC.
@VJFranzK Go for it. Apple makes some good products but they tie you to their proprietary app and iTunes stores and charge you about 300-600 dollars more for equivalent hardware in their Mac line. HP makes good products too such as their ultraportables, sounds like you just bought a costco floor model or something.
@DrNemmo wow, the price has gone up then. But you do really "get what you pay for" - there are a LOT of options here! I've tried em all, and this is the next best thing to a real Tenori anywhere. Also note the free Beatwave and PatternMusic.
The Ipad is the future today. How many thousands of years would we need to wait to microsoft create a machine like Ipad? Thank you Steve Jobs. You are the best! The future is Today! WEEEEEEEEE!!!
Another great vid Franz! I've just bought this for my iPod Touch and now I finally have my Kaossilator Pro to pair up with it.
I really enjoy your videos because you show that you don't have to be a musical genius to use these programs/instruments and you don't make it sound elitist. You make it look fun which is what music should be really.

Should I get this or the TNR-i? They seem similar-ish, and I've always wanted a tenori-on. :)

@VJFranzK I ended up getting the TNR-i. ... Disappointment, really, it's frustratingly annoying to use, in my opinion.
At least Sunrizer washes away all the pain. Now, if only I had two iPads ...

I wish this app was still $10. That I would pay. I can't afford $40 for an app. Even one as good sounding as this.
freesoulvw 10 months ago
@freesoulvw they should lower the price, I agree, to a level more comparable to other similar apps on this platform.

VJFranzK, are you German? You talk with a good accent but you sound very deliberate in your speech.

The problem I see s that this app is almost 40 bucks. I advice MoxMatrix if you want something cheaper

Any devs out their listening. Give us a WAV editor for the iPad. Make it Similar to Soundforge 7. Stereo and Mono recording through Audio Interface.

@hustletv That would indeed be good. They say with iPad OS4 that it will be easier to transfer files between desktop and iPad

Well, I hope I don't seem like a musical idiot either. ;-)
But am a %90 self taught producer, rather than "conventionally trained"
Yes, I dislike elitism! ( Aren't we better than that? ;-) And favor clarity of meaning
I think that "electronic gadget music" is the next punk rock,
or hip hop, or folk music...
fun sounds made by "the people" with what they have available
Thanks! More reviews coming...

@bonomius Not YET. They say they are working on the iPad one!
Really, pixelization doesn't affect this particular program in any negative way, so it doesn't bug me.
Hopefully the iPad processor will allow more simultaneous voices or something?
I am enjoying this alot, see my demo tunes on the online song library
