Bless the world of music. How else can a poor man from Arkansas travel the world and spread the word of the blues with a marine band harmonica. I had the album with this tune but it was different than the one shown.
"Quiet, rolling, take one......... What's the name of this?" "Li'l Village" "......" "A Li'l VILLAGE MOTHERFUCKA', A LIL VILLAGE!" "There aint a mothafuckin' thing in here 'bout a Village you son'f a bitch- *HAHAHAHA Clap.* "Notin in the ong got anything to do with a village" "Well- a small town." "I know wh at a village is." "Well ALRIGHT goddammit- you name it after I get through with it summabitch. you name it what u wanna. You name it yo mammy if u wanna!" LOOOL
I love how on The Essential Sonny Boy Williamson they label it: "Little Village (w/false start and dialogue)" Dialogue my ass! Cracks me up every time.
@metyuewb Raps to this guy without him Van Morrison wouldn't of sung 1 of his best called "little village" please listen to that1 he brings this kind of music+soul+countryblues+rock+his own unique mystic thing
Sonny Boy was from the little village of Glendora MS. Leonard Chess loved to get the musicians mad and call them "mother fuckers" to get them angry enough to give the songs some grit.
as we say in Scotland "thats him telt" haha still love this intro it shocks and makes me laugh all at once, sonny boy williamson true blues the real thing
This is certainly one of my favorite songs by Sonny Boy, along with "Baby you got to help me" and Decoration Day." I have to say the man was a bad ass on a harp!! A real pioneer!! He's taught me everything i know almost, along with all kinds of folks i'm sure! There's still some sound affects though that he makes that i still don't have a clue how how he did 'em no matter how many times i listen to his cds, and maybe never wilI! I love his clear note and bright sound! what a man!! R.I.P. Sonny!
This is an all-time favorite! Sonnyboy you ruled. He was a truly gifted harp player, who inspired me to take a stab at learning how to play. I quickly gave up.
LOL! "call it yo mammie if you want to!" F*ckin awsome LMAO!!!!!

The "chat" at the beginning of this track is repeated by John Hiatt on the Little Village CD, take a listen. Pity they didn't like touring.
