@rubenkid100 Someone has been playing too much RTW. Roman army used testudo and various forms of other shielded formations which allowed them to use their Pilas (spears) and short gladius swords in close combat very effectively. Study a bit about Roman military tactics and you will know what im talking about. Besides Gypos used almost no armor at all which made them much easier targets. No wonder Rome conquered Egypt in a relatively short period of time.

@rubenkid100 Well testudo is not slow if you simply order your men to loosen it a bit and move in a light running pace. Normally it was not used in large scale battles but in Celtic history i learned that it is how they would move against rebel bands. And her name was Boadicea (in other sources referred to as Boudicca)

Romans - not willing to cross the swamp with only their head sticking out of the water made long wooden legs in which to do it not getting wet....unfortunately Gallic tribes soon learned that it is easy to knock Romans off those legs and stab the during the fall with spears. I somewhere have a book called "Rotting Romans" which is full with kind of funny and grim misfortunes of Romans :D

I own this game myself and I do like commanding my armies and being the hero/general. But I prefer using greece and alexander with his fire arrows. But the one thing I love about this game is the Spartans really can take on 10000 Persians on the thermopole map.

This game is at my top 3.

It is the very best to play with friends, very simpel and fun.

It has a good graphic, nice hero command and large armies to control.

The only backsides on the game is that the : there is only 4 nations to play with. and its kinda boring playing versus the computer.

I made a ''mod'' for this game.It's called The Peloponesian War.The gameplay is the same.

It has a big map (Greece and Macedonia).!There are some mountains and narrow places,hills and of course the sea, and rich vegetation! You play with Sparta and you have Thebe in your team.You play against Athene and his allied Amphipolis.I also made the cities,with great defences.There are some villages (outposts) which you have to capture them to control the gold mines.

The hero mode is cool. I wish more RTS would have a mode like that.

Could you imagine a RTS game like Starcraft, the old Warcraft, Age of Empires, Battle Realms etc having this kind of hero mode? I would have played the games for a lot longer. Another game that advertised a kind of hero mode was Highland Warriors. When the demo for Highland Warriors came out the website had a first person mode, but I couldn't get it to work. I wanted to be the bagpiper :)
