  • She used to sound more cockney, now she sounds like she's spent a long time in Holland

  • her voice is beautiful

  • i my' haha i love how she speaks english!!

  • 0:48!!!

    WHO!??? LOL!

  • look youre 13...ok....timba' dumb dork names self after a work shoe.....Iceland is not Germ man'....german is gutteral BJORK is the Top VOICE in Good Music...and Jazz sux. Rap sux because they make good beats and ruin it with ghetto speak.

look youre 13 and fascism {best word for it] sux too.ok youre 13.

  • @TheKilo305 what kind of retarded are you? Icelandic is a Northern Germanic language.

  • @TheKilo305 umm i'm from iceland and icelandic is a northern germanic language......

  • I love You.

  • Icelandic is such an over-the-top germanic sound. In a way, even more so than german, more gutteral and primal.

  • she is amazing, her voice, music... body language... just unique!

  • I own all of her LPs except the "Telegram" album, and the "volta" album - because I didn't like the thought of Timbaland making music with my beloved Björk, "too late to apologize" ya know. But when I listen to her, I know, that she knows what she's doing and she wouldn't work with Timbaland if she wasn't comfortable with it. Now I'm gonna buy the "Volta".

  • Wow, such a great creative artist, love her so much

  • shes very intelligent!

  • Bahahahaha!

  • Shamwow?

  • What she just said crushed every gossipers bullshit. Thank god there is someone out there making music that has a brain. It's funny how alot of "hip hop/rap" fans and musicians have contrived and prefabricated personalities.

  • you can tell from her music she's a very deep person

  • BAHAHAHAHA!

  • whats so funny lol

  • Sexy accent indeed

  • She's an state-of-art in the shape of a human.

  • OMG I so love Bjork! She is not only amazing as an artist, she is so genuine and truly all about just the music. She is a pure genius.

If Aretha is the Queen of soul (more of an empress by now, lol),

Michael Jackson the King of Pop (also more of an emperor),

then Bjork is the Queen of experimental Individuality: true musicianship: a dying out kind in our auto-tuned over-sexed, over-hyped pop world.

  • Look, I'm 13, I'm no musical genius, but, I do know Bjork is the most important musical figure in the world rigth now, she is original, true to herself and she doesn't give in to facist ''genres'.I belive her accent is awesome, i understand everything she sais and people who poke fun at have grow up!!

  • @musicfuelsmysoul I'm 14 and i totally agree it's hatd for the majority of the world to understand her but she is the most important artist in the world

  • @musicfuelsmysoul "fascist" genres? what do you mean?

  • yes..im Indian and i understood every fuckin word she said so lets get on with the music and fuck categories too...just play what you think is good to you...

  • Yes I agree with you, I am Icelandic and music is very unique in iceland, not like the unindivual people they have other place and that produce cliche music that everyone has heard. what is the fun of that, to hear the same shit over and over? And she's from Iceland, ofcourse we have accent , are you stupid or something?? It is better than having a redneck farmer accent , so fuck yourself and keep listening to Bjork.

  • There are some unique musicians in other areas of the world too, producing some equally as intriguing music, but you icelanders do have a couple of interesting things going on right now.

  • i want icelandic accent!! I hope go to iceland one day and learn english with that accent......I'm a simple spanish.....=(

  • @ag9171a I like Bjork, and I live on a farm in Alabama, in the United States. You might not know, but Alabama is like the Redneck state. It's really not fair when people think they are better than you because you come from a specific place. No one called you a viking barbarian, did they? They didn't, so shut up trying to cause fights. I can't stand idiots like you who think they know everything!

  • Well said!

  • I agree, I love her accent, but I definitely had trouble understanding her and had to replay three times for the beginning

  • bjork is.. my hero.

  • Someone that really GETS IT.

We need more people like you Bjork, to hell with genres and labels. Music IS the individual. The moment you forget that you are not making true music. And I believe that what is the true core of music is truth.

..also, Stop nagging about her accent. What are you deaf or something? I heard every word fine. Let her talk any damn way she wants to. it blows my mind when i look at the comments on a video and find that they have nothing relevent to what the video is about

  • W Bjork

  • She never used to have an accent that strong, because a while ago she had a completely northern british sounding accent. And now it sounds like english is a new language for her. Maybe she's been away and is forgetting it.

  • Genre = shawn'rr'e

I fucking love her accent <3

  • i jus love bjok´s accent. so sweet and rude at the same time...lovely

  • Hardcore Icelandic accent, many Icelandic people have that very "hard" accent on English as Icelandic is a lot different to pronounce.

  • what influenced the dress she wore for the wanderlust video?

  • love the way she rolls the 'r' in overall

  • Bjork is the real deal. I freaking love her originality, art and intelligence.

  • i agree

  • What are you talking about? She had an accent when she was young too. Sometimes thick, sometimes not. For people whose second (or third or fourth) language is English, having different accents at different times is normal.

  • Plus, when she was interviewed by Clive Anderson, she was living in London and being around Londoners. At this point, she was living in Iceland and New York. So she's gone back more to her 'original' accent.

  • So then why'd you assume it's for publicity? :)

  • accents change alot when u move around the country. my friend came back from ireland with a irish accent, and then 1 month later he sort of adjusted back to american accent. so its definetly not for publicity

  • yeah, my husband, Arnar & I, are from Iceland. My name is actually Björg, (very commons variations of this name in Iceland) And when we visit our family in Iceland, we come back with VERY strong accents. Björk is not faking it, I assure you. :)

  • so do you pronounce it the same? I know a girl on my course called Björg, I haven't ended it with a hard g yet, thank god! it would be good to know how to say it!

  • I would love to help, but i'm not sure how you personally would pronounce Björk, but yes you pronounce it the same, with a soft roll of the 'r' but instead of ending it with a hard 'k' like her name, the g is pronounced softer. Maybe if you look through youtube or other video sites, some people film themselves pronouncing these things, and speaking icelandic phrases. So i hope this helps! Let me knoe if you want to inquire anything else!! :)

  • you got my respect bjork!

  • Bjork respects music, respects musicians.

At least she has it right.

  • don't have a go at me, cause I'm a big fan, but sometimes she just says what's obvious to most musos. the comment about the accent: yeah! what happened? i miss it too!

  • Missunderstooodd!

Björk, seriuosly, I must marry you!

  • Björk's accent was so cute back with the Sugarcubes... I miss that accent. I could hear the effect of learning English from Great Britain on her voice back then... I'm not really sure what made her voice change.

  • i like the fact that she's very open to different musical style and artists. i can't people with close-minded musical tastes.

  • One time a Björk interview was on tv, and my 70 year-old grandma started imitating her voice and mannerisms almost perfectly! It was hilarious! :)

  • lolz. i wanna see!

  • in my opinion Bjork looks like a little girl

    wich is good......

today I got my FIRST Bjork song!!

    (all is full of love)

  • OMG, welcome to the beginning of your new life! That is one of my all time favourite Bjork tracks. It's so joyful and liberating when her voice opens up into infinity, and you see angels and fairy dust enveloping you into a cocoon of wonder and beauty.

I love her albums Homogenic and Vespertine. Get those too!!!! And watch her award-winning performance in "Dancer In the Dark". And while your at it, buy a swan dress to wear on your next trip to 7/11 for a midnite slurpee.

    sooo hapi for you.

  • when i first watched an interview of Björk I got pleasantly astounded. When i listened to her tracks I used to notice she had a quite different accent comparing to the extremely strong Icelandic accent she has when she's talking and not singing.

I must admit that i really thought she kinda had a British accent lol - but that doesn't matter at all, I still like it - really cute bdw, and her songs are simply marvellous and always make me reflect about diffent themes.

  • SHE IS ICELANDIC.

What you are hearing is that good ol'e Nordic tongue.

  • Under-shud! :) OMG! I never heard her accent *giggles* :)

  • I thought everyone knew she was Icelandic. She isn't British darkenlight....

  • where is she from?

  • oh i love her accent !

  • I love Wanderlust~

  • Ich habe mehrere Björk - Interviews gesehen aber in diesem hat sie den ärgsten Akzent...

  • Sie tut sich am Anfang auch sehr schwer.. Vielleicht aus der Übung :P

  • I will work with hip-hup.

  • Her accent is great.. I'm in love with it...

She never really had a british accent...

But anyway.. what matters? Her accent or her music?

  • She never had a british accent? Then, watch the "Björk about money" and "Björk - Interview (Later with Jools Holland)" videos :D

  • again I believe that i see Bjork with her own accent. Might be a fluent english speaker but i can see a lot of things in her accent that are not british. They're just Bjorkish...

  • Actually, that's how Icelandic people speak. I always thought she might be affecting that accent until I heard another Icelandic talk.

  • yeah, but her first language is not English so she can have the accent, change it as she wants.

  • Who cares about her accent. Are all of you stupid?

  • She used to have a really British accent!

  • As said, Björk ages backwards :P

  • That's weird because she's from Iceland.

  • Yeah but she used to stay in london to study so that's where she gets it.

  • 'I think of people more as individuals'

we all should learn from björk, even though a lot of people don't understand her sometimes

  • Does she like NOT AGE? Still looks great.

  • OMG I KNOW! Seen like clips from 1993-94 and she still looks just as hot lol xD Another funny thing when we're on this subject is that her accent has gotten worse during the last 10 years :P Björk is officially the first woman to age backwards!

  • i understand her just fine...

  • She can get english accent as well...

  • I never knew she had such a strong accent. I love it.

  • I love her accent!!

  • you must be american.

    does your ignorance annoy you?

  • Actually, he's Brazilian, according to his profile.

As an American, I must say that not all of us are ignorant. Just most of us. And I would assume that every country has their fair share of dunces.

  • point taken

  • You must be french

    Does your arrogance annoy you?

  • That was for pdeteliga just in case anyone is confused

  • wow... I must admit I didn't know that my comment would cause such a mess... anyways, for those bothered with my message: sorry, but I say it wasn't my intention to disrespect anyone, it's just that, truly, her accent makes the comprehension of what she says quite difficult, and I had to watch it a few times in order to understand everything... Finally, it makes me sad that someone made bad judgemente of me just because of a lack of good interpretation and a bit of humor... That's all.

  • Aw that's a sweet apology

  • lol i never knew she had an accent :O

    what is it?

  • icelandic

  • work hard. have passion. love what you do.

we don't care what kind of animal you are if you do amazing things.

    z.

  • get in line :D

  • Hey Wait! I know my english is not excellent, but I didn't undesrtand her very well (actually she speaks so funny and strange... but I love her) I mean, is she talking about a missundertanding thing? What was it? Could someone explain me!

By the way, the video is corgious!!!!

  • She is so cool :) and so conscious!! <3

  • ok :D

  • I don't like you

  • She used to have an excellent London-Icelandic accent when she lived in London which was really cute, but she's definitely lost that now.

    Still love her though.

  • yeah:]

  • nadie que no sea su idioma nativo lo puede hablar que uno donde mismo nacio y lo aprendio oyo y practico muchisimo tiempo.

  • It's incredible how people focus on something terribly far from what she's trying to express. Of course the accent matters, but I'd say it's something lowermost about her.

You may not like her, but she does good music and her visual arts are amazing (take a look at Wanderlust!).

I agree with OkCinema, she's no journalist, she's a singer, (icelandic by the way), she does whatever she feels like and gives a damn for the perfection of the English language.

We should not mix up things.

  • you suck

  • Well done, mate. Good critique. Music journalist I'm guessing. No? Knob?

  • icelandic

  • i like her, i only tell, if u are singer must to perfectionate the english, because a lot of people listen the music of this person, when u are one public celebrity, must to learn to keep your accent, but also try undestand other people cant undestand what she says...its my opinion..

  • well, I bet your icelandic accent must be really terrible, too :P

THe best!

  • Me alegra saberlo. Un besazo!

  • Otro majo !

  • she looks old in this vid..

  • Yeah she does, but still pretty

  • sadly, she is gettin old :( but isnt loosin her skills one bit. some people get better with age :)

  • yup

    she still sounds good :D

  • i agree - beautiful

  • I'm so glad she has a normal face not butchered like a lot of singers her age

  • Tan lenda mi abuela Björk jajaja xD

  • i heard she can speak very well english (with england accent) long time ago. but now speak very bad. i dont understand why?

  • I think she went back to Iceland for a while to chill out.

  • She is tired perhaps. I can't understand her all too. Well ... anyway, she's an artist genius.

  • Its funny how some people can't understand what she is saying at times. I am Australian, so basically i am opposite poles of earth of where she is from but i have always been able to understand her perfectly. Weird

  • Is because I'm peruvian, I live in Peru, and I need to hear a clearly english to understand.

  • hm... i don't know why, but as a german i can understand her much better than a few americans or englands o.O^^

  • sometimes I have to listen to her more than once in interviews but usually I can understand her accent like any other

    I'm english by the way

  • i understand her perfectly. She has no hinge to her. She expresses whatever comes to mind. She does not for herself or anyone, but just for the sake of it. Just for life, existence. i'm american by the way.

  • ah, sorry, i didn't wanted to say that americans can't understand her. i wanted to say that i can understand her better than i can understand americans. Did you understand?

SOrry for my bad english. I've to learn even more^^

  • oh it's ok. i need to learn languages as well

  • Funny, she doesn't like "artist as a genre," but she sure strikes me that way. That's one reason I dig her work.

  • Yeah, thinking about it, she's right. It isnt really fair to class any musician into any genre, because then in themselves I imagine this creates some sort of fear that if they do something different than expected, people will hate it.

  • her accent is adorable :)

  • sweet accent... honest talk!

  • isnt this the earth intruders video shoot. still love bjork.

  • no, she just did filmed her wanderlust one. Hasn't been released yet

  • At what time does?

    If in this tour?

    I love you.

  • At what time does?

    If in this tour?

    I love you.

  • yeah she rolls the R sooooooooooo cool xD

bjork is the best of all =)

  • i could stare at her face forever and id never get bored.

  • wow... she looks old in this interview... still beautiful though, I love her face

  • her accent changes all the time..i mean i saw interview and she was talking about vespertine and she sounded very britain like and now she sounds very icelandic =) maybe she spent a long time there again

  • she changes it all the time, sometimes even in the middle of the interview. Dunno why but I guess she gets bored really easy as she says herself

  • see in ways music can be art. but u have a lot of music that doesnt explain everything its just repeatedly asked questions i mean maybe fergie, brittany spears and lohan did have talent in singing but they are asked a lot of questions and dont have the minds of musicians which is very, very teenage thats y they act so repeatative constantly making the same sounds and lyrics.. very upsetting but Bjork keeps me in that sane frame

  • music is art.. you fool

  • duh! its pretty much a synonym..

  • see, i luv bjork cos shes so open-minded. she looks at the whole picture. defines music as art.

  • exactly!

  • cuando sale el video?

  • Does anyone know when The wanderlust video is coming out?

  • Yeah I wonder when we're going to see it? She just announced that Michel Gondry's making the Declare Independence video but we still haven't seen Wanderlust :(

  • Look shes being Icelandic again, she was very english on jools Holland. Voice wise i mean. Dam shes so cool.

  • i saw a comment where she herself said her accent in her words was f***'d. having spent half her life on the road. Living in england for alog time, living in spain, and also having several"mates" who were scottish. Bound to make one speak alittle differently.
