I've seen both EJ and BJ in concert both recently and the 90's. Elton's piano playing is a level above Billy's. I love Billy, but it is what it is. Elton - even in the 90's - is just a better live singer.

However the depth of Elton's output, especially his 70's stuff wins out. I feel like Billy had really two albums where each track is consistently great (52nd street and The Stranger). With Elton he has albums with no filler like Tumbleweed Connection, Goodbye yellow Brick Road, Honky Chateau, Madman Across the Water
