There is TONS of good excuses. Street Sense had a wide open trail along the rail-openings after openings. Curlin wasnt so lucky, and had he been, and with a little more experience, Street Sense wouldnt have had a chance.

As for Steve his trainer the fact that his earnings to date right now for the year are nearly 3 times his next rival Pletcher and should put all of the nay sayers to rest. He is a "super trainer" one of the best in the world. Scott Blasi and John Moynihan and all of the people behind the scene also deserve a lot of credit for Curlin's achievements.

Couldn't agree more with you about Jess Jackson. I was referring to some of the others. I'm very excited to see Curlin racing at 4, and very sorry to not see Street Sense and Hard Spun not going another year with him. Very sad. A waste of talent, truly.

Nice vid on Curlin, Carly! I just have to comment on the trainer/dope issue - Curlin is a stand-out in a crop of stand-outs, but he has owners in jail and a trainer who is shady at best. But Curlin still shines in spite of his connections. I have to say, he deserves better. He is class; some of those associated with him are not. Looking forward to '08 with Curlin.

Curlin is 80% owned by Jess Jackson who is 100% above board and has done fantastic work at cleaning up the shady bloodstock agent system in Kentucky and elsewhere...and Mr. Jackson is going to race him at age 4!

Contrast the ownership on Street Sense, Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday and Bernardini: all voluntarily retired at age three and owned by a genocidal military dictator!

Great video! Though I have my eye on Any Given Saturday, Curlins performance in the Haskell at Monmouth was less then stellar. Don't get me wrong he is an amazing athlete. And very gorgeous.

I saw curlin break his maiden, before the trainer had the horse. He was one horse that didnt need any steroids. I just hope they dont mess with him, I'ts detrimental for a horse mentally as well as physically.
