Zooey Deschanel had all the looks for the roll and more, acting skills for one! the big eyes, the hair, the skin complexion, and the red cheeks the Eduard pointed them out in all the books. Zooey's blue eyes could be remplaced them with brown contacts for the three fisrt movies, and for the breaking dawn, her light bright eyes would have been great for Bella's final transformation.
I don't think Emma would have even considered being a part of another franchise, especially during the filming of Harry Potter I don't think she would have had the time. But she would have been a good candidate that's for sure. Well, if she could do an American accent that is. Alexis on the other hand is a few years too old to play a 17 year old IMO. Otherwise she would have been great. Emily's lips are a bit too full for the part of Bella, but she would have portrayed Bella better than Kristen.
And as for the "lack of emotion" that Bella (Kristen) showed in New Moon when Edward was leaving her, yeah I admit that she should have maybe cried or something but don't blame that on her acting, if anyone's to blame it would be the director for keeping it like that, he could have told her to show more emotion but he didn't... Honestly I like the way it came out, like she was so shocked by what happened that no emotions came out, I think Kristen and the director did well with it.
As a person who hasn't read the books and only having the movies to go by, I like what I see with Kristen being Bella, even though some people who have read the books say she didn't do a good job, other people say that she did portray her well. I have no complaints with her acting in the films and I really couldn't picture anyone else playing Bella. It's expected for most people who have read the books first to be disappointed a film adaptation, but for the movie, Kristen was a good choice imo

This whoe entire stupid 'recast' thing is total BS. The movies did great in the box office and the actors did even better. Why are you disrespecting all the work they put into it by comparing them to actors that you think LOOK better? Kristen is really pretty and Robert is really hot and the rest of them fit their amazing roles TO THE T.

@TheAmieeexx I agree with you for the most part. I like Kristen as Bella, although I think the Twilight movies aren't her best work. It's true that she can be a little too awkward sometimes. BUT when you watch Kristen in movies like 'Speak', 'Adventureland','Panic Room','Welcome to the Rileys' and 'The Yellow Handkerchief', I mean, WOW. She's an amazing actress. seriously :)

Kristen totally RUINED Bella's role. She was so incompetent in that role and definitely not what Bella acts like. Bella acts like the kitten that thinks shes a lion; brave and headstrong, and not shy at all. Kristen totally ruined Bella. Emily Browning or Ellen Page would have been a little better. Kristen Stewart just butchered the role.

emily browning. kr stew is just stiff and dull and expressionless. bella is sarcastic, smart, and somewhat shy. all kristen shows is awkwardness. she isn't talented at all, she has no experience. i mean, her awkwardness made me feel unconfortable, like i wanted to turn and not see one more minute of the movie.

christina ricci! she's not depressing the way kristen makes bella seem and when i imagine vampire-bella i always see her. Quite alot of the actresses named here (including kristen) could either play vampire bella or human bella but i think you might have to change actresses after her transformation because they're either too sexy or too plain e.g. ellen page not good vamp, good human tho. emily browning to me doesn't look right; her face isn't slight enough. the gilmore girls one looks better

I like Kristen's sharp looks - i'm sure Emily Browning is great, but for some reason I don't see as 'Bella' with her looks. Though I agree that Kristen could've been a bit more passionate in her acting. I would love to see how Emma Watson would've played Bella.
