Quite a difference in the reaction to Sakai's smoked asparagus compared to Morimoto's similar dish a few seasons later in the second asparagus battle.

They didn't skip it, the show was too long.

In the original Japanese version, they ate it.

The dubbed version had to include the important cooking procedures and commentary, leaving out the "Prawns Wrapped in Asparagus with Caviar Topping".

Yeah in alot of episodes they skip showing some of the crits for some of the dishes. I wish they would've included the prawn one though. It looked yummy!

Maturity in cooking, if two chefs are very talented, will always win out over youth. I'm surprised that the young chef's dishes were so ordinary, since we normally associate youth with taking chances. But it was Sakai who went for originality, while the young chef took no risks. An excellent battle--thanks so much, archo.
