So far, I;ve only watched about 30 mins of this but I think its brilliant. Not all of it works of course, but I;ve seen hamlet on stage about 10 times and in some productions 80% didnt work but the 20 that did was still worth seeing. Taking just the description or polonious - many productions characterise polonious as a doddery old man but hey. he's the old kings trusted advisor, you dont get to that position without being astute and manipulative. He's trying to hold his position in a new regime

This is a brilliant piece of work. Some flaws, yes. So what? But also some real world, real time insights and twists. Yes. Shakespeare will be produced forever. How will they do this in 100 years, in a 1,000? Change is a fundamental law of life, one which I get each time I hear this play over the decades of my life and see its meaning differently each time. but maybe my perspective is warped. I also find it hard to envision a future when there will not be Grateful Dead tribute bands

If you're looking for a modernized Hamlet that is accessible and understandable while being faithful to the original text... no, this ain't it. You should see the 2009 Royal Shakespeare Company production (with David Tennant as Hamlet and Sir Patrick Stewart as Claudius and the Ghost of Old Hamlet).

Looks like student work. Some or the actors are more suited to stage than screen. The camera work was a bit busy at times (which was distracting), and shaky too, but good ideas were used. Pity about the overexposure. The video editing could have been done better, certain parts were confusing and difficult to follow. Some of the music wasn't suited to the scene at times I thought and sometimes even detracted from it. The sound needs work. The mic is picking up too much reverb in the room.

What I see is a project where certain people may have been more interested in standing out rather than working together in unity. What makes a good film great is the ability for everyone to be invisible most of the time. Not noticing the music changing to convey certain emotions. The lighting not being obvious (and not getting in frame! 0:20:05 lol ). The sound being mixed with the right levels and effects, etc.

It wasn't bad, there are talented people here. But there needs to be changes.
