Great segment since it looks holistically at this condition. I've had phenomenal success w/stretch & hold techniques in the neck, shoulders & back & some routines learned via Alexander technique + diet changes. Trying to post my story on any site related to de Quervain &, specifically, when it comes to surgery & Cortisone shots. I went through everything except surgery & after speaking to a sports physiologist I realized I was too focused on the hand/wrist. Don't jump to shots and surgery.
After six weeks of massage, vitamins, cold packs and pain, I went to an orthopedist. He injected a combination of novacaine and cortisone into my wrist and put my hand in a brace that also immobilizes the thumb. I took Aleve when it bothered me. After 10 days, the pain is gone and I can do everything I used to do. Done mess around with this horribly painful condition. See an Orthopedist.
@svf5737 There may be some relief found with meds, which mainly help lessen inflammation. And injections may give some relief. However, in my case like many, the pain is abated for a short stint and comes back after Cortisone shots. Also, found this condition is not about immobilization, but more about strengthening upper arm, shoulders, back & neck. A combo of stretch & hold techniques, some diet & habit changes may provide relief. Be careful, do your homework and don't jump to shots & surgery.
Do a google search "Gary Moller + Active Elements". Do similar searches for topics related to your pain because there are over 800 articles and E-Books on my site, many of which relate to your health issues.
I have the biggest problem with this in my shoulder,it first began in my wrists but now that is a long time ago.Since I was doing fitness I messed up my shoulder and now I am suffering with pain each day.I've tried everything, maybe now I'm goiing to check my vitamines.
