Saw this in theater with my adolescent daughter. We laughed til we snorted. To this day, it's on the top of our list of faves. I still have the VHS version, bought many years after the initial viewing.
I saw this when it came out on video (I was probably 12) and loved it. bought it on DVD and just watched it. I get so much more of it now, and it remains in my top 5 favorite movies. I really wish Stanley and Oliver had been allowed to make more like this, in that epic Laurel and Hardy style.
I loved this lesser-known movie. I bet it would be great for live theatre too. There are many great little comedy bits in it. My favourite scenes were the suicidal entertainer singing "The Nearness of You" and the ballroom dance.
My whole family love this film. It is innocent, smart, very funny and has some fantastic performances and incredible modern slapstick in it. I don't know why it isn't as famous as it ought to be. Try it - you might like it!
