I stared fly with the book that is completly great. its amasing how someone can fly an airplane with this program. I bougth in delaware 11 years ago and someone stole it from me.
i probably got this back when it came out. i still have it. the book it comes with is fantastic - a lot of the aeronautical info is relevant to real world flying and taught the same way. it's full of stuff that MSFS still hasn't come close with as far as education. i use the XC flights in the back of the book in FSX to keep my real world flying skills up.
i use to have this when i was like 8 its just to bad there are not more vids of it. as i remeber this was pretty fun to goof around with at age 8 with a flight stick. again i really wish there were more vids out there as this a long forgotten gem from my childhood. Now 16 years later im still flying....way better i might add with a home built cockpit and a whole switch panel and its all becuase my dad got me this sim way back when ( tear wells up in eyes ) thanks dad.
@starscream6000 Do you have this game/simulator? Many of the flight controls can be accessed through the computer keyboard. There is a help menu in the software that should allow you to see which keys control what to fly the airplane. Also, you may be able to use a flight stick to better control the aircraft. Pretty challenging even for a simulator this old.
@kraytdragon3970 yeah, i have the game. at the time i asked that question, i didn't really figure the game out very well yet, but yeah, i'm getting the hang of it.
if anything i really liked about this game was the intro was hard to fly lol i sucked at it then but when i truned 16 playing FS 2000 or 2002 cant rember wich i learned how to fly lol
@illstandbyyou You know, the funny thing is that I sucked at this simulator, too, but that was the very reason I liked it so much when I first got it...I enjoyed the challenge.
it was the first simulator that introduces a realistic ATC dialog..I agree the graphics and the fly engine are terrible, but it was fun to play back that time.
I got this in 1999 after trying fs98, Propilot had really good terrain, however, there seem to be alot of flaws with the overall simulator, & the airport designs were terible, no gates, no terminal, just a gray runway, and once you landed you had no control of the aircraft, 4 out of 10 for Propilot.
wow! this was my very first flight sim and i never managed to land proberly, cause I didn't have a joystick... next sim was fs2002. That's where the jystick came and I started getting serious with flight sims. And hen, after about 800 virtual flight hours logged, I switched to fsx and logged an aditional 600 hours. And that's where I'm at now. I know pretty much everything there is to know, about how to fly a plane and i can do perfect landings... all thanks to this sim, which got me started...
It was pretty much the same for me. My very first flight sim was on a desktop computer in 1989 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Airway Science program and I've been hooked ever since.
@JSAirways I'm sorry but having 1400 virtual hours counts for very little. Unless you've had real-world experience you couldn't fly a real plane. Enjoy flight simulations but just appreciate that they are games, not instructional tools.
@kris1991 Being branded a loser by someone who spends all of their time playing on flight sim seems highly ironic. You're delusional if you think that you could operate a 737 with no formal training; one of the reasons that commercially-available flight sims are often frowned upon by real pilots is because they make idiots like you think that they know it all when they clearly don't. Your comment looks as though it's been written by a spiteful child.
@bravobravo74 Amen! Flightsims are a good resource to beginning fight training or with certain programs like PMDG are good for getting your head into FMS operation, etc. But they in no way REPLACE real world flight training on any real level. I love these 13 year old armchair pilots.... yawn....go back to middle school..
lol i remember this intro...ive been playing flight sims for years i had this one when i was like 15, someone stole it though :(. its funny i had no idea what they were talking about in the intro but now that im an actual pilot i understand it
ah man i miss that game... it was so much fun. i one time left it on overnight, full throttle ant 7 deg cimb and my cessna 172 wound up at like a few hundred thousand feet
At first I had the same problem. If I remember correctly, it was a matter of flipping switches in the correct sequence and trying to get the fuel mixture just right.
Go to CHECK LIST and find the part of "start engine" for that given airplane. It is a little harder then the other games because it is as close as it gets from the real thing. I love this game and I learned ATC communication by "playing" with it. Once you get going you will never want another game. I'm just having a problem now because my game was for Windows 95/98 and it does not run on my PC with Windows XP. Anyone has any input on that?
You could try going to properties doing right click on the icon. Then go to compatibility tab and make it say windows 98 and press apply. Then run it. It wont work right. Then exit out and make sure that windows 98 compatibility isn't on. Then press apply. Run it and it should work. It worked like that when I played Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit for windows 98
I still have this simulator :D Good times man, good times!
