The facts are when Saladin retook Jerusalem in 1095AD, originally the capitol of Israel dating back to 750 BC, Saladin was faced with a dilemma. To continue the attack and massacre all European inhabitants yet risk all Moslem prisoners being killed. Or accept terms from the defenders by ensuring the safety for it's inhabitants as long as all Moslem prisoners were'nt harmed. Saladin really had no choice but accept terms.

Not as informed (yet) about the 3rd Crusade as I am about the 1st and even though the 1st crusaders acted shamelessly there is some negligible mitigation for their atrocities. Even though they had leaders, they didn't have governors - essentially a group of individuals formed into a mob, even today when mobs form they're uncontrollable. Their expedition was arduous because they weren't prepared for the middle eastern conditions and the expedition took exponentially longer than they anticipated..

Saladin is an inspiration for all the Muslims of the world whether it is a sunni or shia.The Muslims were divided during the crusades and it was he who kept the Muslims unite under Islam.His Jihad was the true Jihad and he was a true God conscious person.He respected his enemies and his prisoners more than his people.He even had no money left after his death because he gave all his money to the poor.

@diddymuck Directed by an Egyptian director Youssef Chahine, he was celebrated in CANNES (France movie festival) several time for his work. He died few years ago. Yes he did made more movies, search on youtube: "Youssef Chahine" or "Youssef Chahine movies" PS: Youssef is the Arabic for Josef.

Gargantou Saladin should be an example to all people, regardless of faith or ethnicity.

He stood for mutual understanding and respect towards all faiths and people.

Saladin never tried to force his religion upon others, but respected that all people should have the right to choose their own path and beliefs in life.

Something we are still lacking in many ways today in all of our societies, be it western, or middle eastern, or asian.

Yes, Saladin was a true gentleman, unlike most of the Crusaders and their leaders. I am a muslim revert and would like to do a playlist about him. it should start with a concise video focusing on his mercy and tolerance. I didn't cut them. The copy that i have has some corrupted scenes (no picture), but it's only at the begining of the movie in the first 2 parts, after that the movie is complete. Enjoy.
