My Gutt-ness! You rascal you Skydog. You got me packing my boxes faster for the move Only trouble is,my moccassin's, keep f-l-y-i-n, off my feet. Oh! Yeah.
Really gettin into this number...push push was always one of my old favorites from Anthology. Great video production on this.......showing the old rare album covers.........and group photos...outstanding.
In response to the description and that Duane Allman mostly played in open E, he actually mostly played in standard, retuning his guitar to open E for slide work only. However, he even played slide in standard tuning on a few occasions, such as in "Dreams" but the Allman Brother's Band. So, he would be in standard for standard playing, and even for some slide, but mostly open E for slide. Just FYI for the people who are interested!
Incredible picture collection... I've never seen the photos of Mr Pickett and Ms. Franklin with Duane Allman. Lots of obscure concert posters too.. The jam was on too! I didn't know this existed!
@bevis25 pretty sure i'm looking for the one on london underground. can't find a vid anywhere, and whenever i try to order a copy of the song, it gets put on back order only to b later told they r not going to b getting anymore.
Only stopped by in my continuing search of the unattainable - a gentle guitar/flute 'seventies tune called 'Do You?' by Herbie somebody-or-other. Even the experts can't help me. It's like I imagined it for heaven's sake.
Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident While in the western part of Macon on October 29, 1971 during a band break from touring and recording, Allman was riding his motorcycle toward an oncoming truck that was turning well in front of him. Allman lost control of his Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle while trying to swing left,, crushing his internal organs. , he died several hours later, just weeks before his 25th birthday.
This is great stuff. It may sound simple but keepin' that groove together and tight and just hangin' on the one and makin' it interesting....that's another thing. Thanks for posting!
@zippyzee hahahahaha dude are you simple? theres such a fukkin groove right here...narcisistic noodling? duane allman was not a solo artist at this point he was a session player...hired to record this track with herbie mann...this is herbies song...do expect him not to play? its not noodling he definitly builds his solo and picks his notes well...and the groove is not generic its nice and smooth and grooving...if your looking for genius allman brothers style jams then your in the wrong place
@jakeroth227 Noodling is pretty much just a series of solos over and over. I do agree though. People should learn to have sentence structure before BASHING on a flute legend and about how Herbie Mann has no "structure" to his amazing skills. Fucking pathetic people. I'm 23 tomorrow and I've been listening to Herbie since I was 5 now. I do in fact love his "Noodling" though. Haters gonna hate. I'm just gonna laugh at them in solace as I always have and NOT talk shit back. It's better that way :P
@zippyzee, you zipper head who needs structure , it,s jazz man with a great groove and some fantastic SOLO work by Herbie and Skydog Allman , just enjoy what you hear !!!!!!!!
@Bonzoandthemadhatter Other performers on the album included Cornell Dupree, David Spinoza (guitar), Gene Bianca (harp), Richard Tee (piano, electric piano, organ), Chuck Rainey, Jerry Jemmott, Donald "Duck" Dunn (bass), Bernard Purdie, Al Jackson, Jr. (drums), and Ralph MacDonald (percussion). The engineer was Jimmy Douglass and the producer was Turkish-American music producer Arif Mardin (1932 - 2006).
We are so fortunate that someone recognized Duane's amazing talents and got him in the studio. Word gets around if you're great. I love the way Duane and Herbie play off each other around 6:40. Classic Skydog. His ability to play at the right time and lay back and accent what others were doing also made him great. Holding back when you can shred. Thats musicianship. I saw Duane twice and they were spiritual experiences.
excellent, it's got groove, it's got soul. whats great for me is, i never heard this before. so i get a new Duane Allman experience. thanks for posting this one.
Great song! Wore this album out back when it came out. One of the best albums ever recorded. Every song on the album 'Push Push' is superb. Thanks for posting all this fabulous material.
Great jam...Wow :D Thanks for the post! Nice job on the video...I like the album cover images and write-up. What an amazing period in history for open-minded experimentation & musical creativity.
Good times even better music. Wish I could go back.. This decade = LAMEST ever

Thank you for that! I think, it was in the 70ies - my friend had the album "push push". A great record! Greetings - Peter Vienna
