For all you BMW boy racers talking dumbness about 4 door this, why compare sedan, different cars. Cut the crying, the same thing would happen to the m6. Learn to accept that AMG is the better car.
AMG is wanting to pair up and be like BMW "M" or ALPINA. The M6 would definitely beat the AMG. If this ALPINA almost beat the CLK, than a lighter car, V-10 would go on a spree. If you are going to say something, say the right thing.
Better in what? Luxury? What is AMG, ///M, and RS divisions made for? Obviously sport, right? AMG cars can't corner for its life, as you can see in the video they spin out with too much brute force, like any American muscle car would. AMG uses ridiculously large engine displacements with pathetic HP to weight ratio (6.3 in the C63 with 450 HP compared to M3's 4.0 @ 414 HP) and the M3 spanks the C63 around the track. And same thing would NOT happen to the M6 seeing that B7 can keep up that close.

Alpina is amazing and for weighing tons and still able to go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds has my money, but if i was 18 id go for the merc, loooks like a race car with street tires, and all that performance in an automatic wow! Both great cars for what they do and yea this test wasnt to compare them as equals but what you can get on opposite ends of the classes.
I've driven the Alpina B7. It's amazing how well it handles for such a large luxurious car. And it's damn fast. I guess this comparison was just to show 2 different ways of spending $120k, not necessarily which car is better.
Well companies like Merc and BMW gotta modifie then to meet American standards and such. This lowers the performance of the car.
The Alpina can do 700nm of torque at 4250RPM (in Europe),here they limit it to 516NM of torque.
The CLK class (in Europe) can do 481HP at 6800RPM,here in America, it is only 475 RPM at 6800RPM. Also Europeens CLK63 AMG can output 630NM of torque at 5000RPM, but in America it can only do 465NM of torque at 5000RPM

I duuno. I really do like the CLK63 but for the price I think I would either step up to the CL or get a 911tt..I don't give a monkeys butt about that ugly assed bimmer. For sedans, the S8 or S63/65 cannot be beaten, IMO !! I have an '03 CL55 AMG and I am pretty damn happy with it....For now !!

i had a 2002 CL55 i got smoked by my buddys 335i and yes i know how to drive its just bimmers are better, and the CLK in this video is a fucking black edition not regular clk63

This is stupid to compare these two together cars. The Alpina B7 was to be compared to the Mercedes S63 and Audi S8. This is a piss poor comparison. I am sorry if I offend some of you that do not know that a four door car can not be compared to a coupe. I am guessing that they could not get a S63

Alpina is amazing and for weighing tons and still able to go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds has my money, but if i was 18 id go for the merc, loooks like a race car with street tires, and all that performance in an automatic wow! Both great cars for what they do and yea this test wasnt to compare them as equals but what you can get on opposite ends of the classes.

I've driven the Alpina B7. It's amazing how well it handles for such a large luxurious car. And it's damn fast. I guess this comparison was just to show 2 different ways of spending $120k, not necessarily which car is better.

Well companies like Merc and BMW gotta modifie then to meet American standards and such. This lowers the performance of the car.
The Alpina can do 700nm of torque at 4250RPM (in Europe),here they limit it to 516NM of torque.
The CLK class (in Europe) can do 481HP at 6800RPM,here in America, it is only 475 RPM at 6800RPM. Also Europeens CLK63 AMG can output 630NM of torque at 5000RPM, but in America it can only do 465NM of torque at 5000RPM

He says at the beginning - the comparison is about price - they both cost the same - style+comfort that can hang with a brute - Yes Yes, you'd buy an M3, a cooper s, a 79' 450 sel 6.9, an 85' 500sel, an HP2 bike + a Unimog to carry it, and cash enough leftover to maintain them all - but this decision won't be weighing you down soon so relax.

Top Gear compared the CLK 63, M3 and RS4. The M3 came out on top. Why would you compare a B7 to a CLK63... they are in totally different classes. Regardless... ill take the BMW ^ ^

The AMG is a MUCH lighter sport car. The Alpina is a Beefy, Chunky swift car, meant for luxury and comfort? (Even though it has over 500 hp!)
They should have chosen an BMW M series for a comparison; that's BMW's race car.
Regardless, I'll take BMW any day :)

My god! The most biased comparison of apples and oranges. a 5000lb sedan vs. a 3200lb gutted coupe. Hmm... If you noticed, the quarter mile revealed very little advantage to the 6.3 liter gutted hot-rod Mercedes. Also, the brake test wasn't even accurate. There was no marker for beginning, and the Mercedes broke earlier, thus finishing first. I may be partial owning a 740iL, but the B7 wins on style, prestige AND performance in this case. Who wants a gutted 6-figured Mercedes? WTF?

these two cars aren't even in the same class,
they should compare the CLK 63 AMG to like the new M3 coupe or the M6, and the Alpina B7 should be compared to either the S63 or S65 AMG. so every one, plz don't let this stupid video ruin the goodness of BMW for u, cuz BMW is better than this only when you compare it to other cars in its class, because cars are usually designed to compare with their same class competitors
