  • WOW, second time using a soldering iron, and done this in like 10 minutes, piece of cake really. Just be careful to not leave the soldering iron on too much, almost heated of the plates, otherwise, GREAT GUIDE, and thanks for the LEDS

  • could u send me a link to some good leds please? i bought some off ebay and they r real shitty and dull they rnt bright please help=/

  • I thought this would be the hardest thing ever. But after I get my rainbow ring of light on my controller, it wasn't so bad.

  • is it ok to use a no corded battery, powered solder that i might buy on ebay and do you need soldering iorn?

  • You will want about a 30 watt soldering iron, so if the one you are looking at is 30 watt, you should be fine. If not, I also sell a soldering iron kit on my eBay store. Link is in the more info section on the top right of this page.

  • This is sooo cool, 1 thing, is this easy? and where can i buy leds? for a good price and with good watt, and last question which watt should i use? 30 watt?

  • I cant say that it is extremely easy to do. First time can be a little bit of a pain. But after a couple of mods, it takes no time at all.

  • will soldering the leds onto the circuit board make it stay on

  • Yes.

  • where do u get those leds and what type of soddering wire do u use?

  • I sell the LED's. Links are in more info at the top of this page. I use a 6/40 Rosin core solder.

  • You can buy everything from my ebay store or website. Look under more info in the top right of this page.

  • how much watt the soldering iron needs to have to do this I have a 15 watt is that good enough ?

  • some say 15 watt will work. I usually use 30 watt iron

  • I have blue SMDs but they look different from the red and green ones. do they solder the same way or is it more presise. help pls

  • as long as they are the same size. If the look (color) of them are different, that is okay.

  • thanks to ur vids i got the leds on good thank u very much

  • how many watts does the solder have to be?

  • 30 watts is fine.

  • You only need to touch the side of the new LED's for a second; this will heat up the solder pad underneath and the LED connection. Just make sure you have a nice pointed tip on your soldering iron rather than a flat tip. That will make a huge difference.

  • i got as far as removing the old leds. i removed the original solder in the process and burned a few new leds trying to put them in. any suggestions as to avoid burning the leds while trying to solder them in place?

  • Where do I buy Smd 0603 LEDs???

    I can't find them anywhere.

Also, how much mcd do I need? HELP!!

  • You can buy them from my website or eBay store. The links are in the top right of this page under more info.

  • hey i think i bought from you today w00t.

  • does it work on the newer controllers with the new board

  • Yes. There are two types of boards out for the xbox 360 controllers. They will work on both types.

  • Yea it is pretty hard that y i always buy double of every mod part i buy so i have one to practice with on a controller that i messed up my first time and once i get the hang of it i do it on the real one..Its a good technique try it

  • Easily? i tried yesterday and completely destroyeed all the connections on the lights and now i have a lightless controller :P

  • Ha. you have to be experienced at this guys. And patience. It's really not that hard.

  • hey do you use 5 or 3 mm for the led

  • the model number for the leds on the control is

    "SMD 0603"

  • You really cant buy these from a store try custom xbox shop's ebay store, they have the best deal. Buy in large quantities too. It may be more costly but it pays off when you mess up. 5mm and 3mm are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to big.

  • there not normal leds. There what frost said. SMD 0603's. Surface mounts not

  • sweet, im ordering your kit sometime today actually

  • What are your prices for these L.E.D's and how many come with it and what is the price of the modded controller kit

  • 4.99 for the LEDs, 16.99 for the mod kit which comes with free LEDs. Four LEDs come with either the LED purchase or the mod kit purchase. Prices are also on my website and eBay store. Check under more info on the upper right hand corner on this page.

  • where can i buy a solder?

  • try radioshack

i saw one today for about 8$

  • awesome camera

  • Hey I have trouble removing them.

How do I remove them so that I dont mess up the circuit board?

I messed up on my last one.

  • Its get easier each time. When I first took these off to put new ones on, it took me quite a while. Now, I can be done in less than a minute. The key it to heat both sides up of the LED. You can use extra solder as done in the video to accomplish this. Also, do not force the LED off. That will surly break the pads off underneath. Just a soft push with the iron as you are heating them up will do.

  • Oh ok.

Yea thats wat I did wrong with mine.

    I forced them off.

So now I know what Im doing.

    Thanks.

Hey do you have other tutorials for the controllers?

  • Right now I just have these. I sell the LED's and a rapid fire mod kits on ebay, and posted these videos here for demo's and instructions.

  • Oh but I dont have paypal and or ebay.

    So yea,.

  • Don't think I'd put red in mine, not after getting the RROD twice =\

  • will i be able to do this with a 30 watt solderin iron

  • Yes. a 30 watt iron will work just fine.

  • ok cheers i will do it now

  • waht type of LED
