PURE POWER & ENERGY!! Queen's music, Freddie's voice, Roger's Drums, Brian's Red Special, John's Bass are the best things ever born in the Universe!!!!! thank you GOD!!!
"Queen were the first major rock band to play behind the Iron Curtain."
and luckily for us, at that time behind that curtain, it was the very best rock band of all time, for the first time to play for all these jailed souls.
i like this concert more than wembley.... ;) freddie sounds better, but thats not a reason..... i love to watch concert when band is playing on night... in england day last longer and first 45min of concert you have a daylight.... a hate that.... queen is great... ;)))))
In comparison with the Wembley concert of 86 i think this one has better sound quality but it seems that the video quality slacks a little in comparison to Wembley.
If i have to pick which performance i like more its Wembley as it has better video quality that gives the performance Queen gave a better viewing and i think its symbolises Queen's zenith in their career in Britain by the scope of the crowd and occasion.
@Stuart0000X : Originally it's from a very high qualified movie which was made by a worldwide known famous cameramen. So you can not see the real quality of the film here.
why many songs by this concert have a tonality higher than the original (like a kind of magic, hammer to fall, under pressure, i want to break free, we are the champions etc..)? someone can answer me to my account, thanks
Not that it really matters, but yes he had HIV/AIDS at this time.
Freddie found out he had AIDS in 1987 after he and his partner Jim Hutton saw a mysterious mark on his shoulder so he went to the doctor where he was diagnosed with AIDS - not HIV - AIDS, so he must have had it for a while but had no symptoms at all.
This is why they say you MUST be tested to be specifically SURE if you have any kind of STD, the symptoms won't always be there! Protect yourselves!!!
well he could have caught the disease sometime during 1986 or 1985 during the works or magic tour but he wasnt diagnosed till spring of 87. He didnt start to get very sick though until late 1990...this to the point where he could barely walk
Ignore mercedes' posts, Brian: He's making speculations and assumptions ("I have proof"--no he doesn't). Besides, even if he DID have AIDS at this point, it wasn't affecting him all that much.
BTW, you don't PLAN tour dates a year before a tour, and the band didn't even know about Freddie's condition until the late 80s.
he contracted the disease in late 85 not long after his amazing Live Aid performance but was diagnosed in 86. he had the disease during Wembley and Budapest put still put on the best shows the world will ever ever see. Look at how ill he is when singing Barcelona but still sounds so powerfull when he must of felt so weak. ultimate showman
Even though I was not born at the time (1987) to see Queen live with Freddie singing, I am so glad to have been born while this man was still here! I love you Freddie Mercury aka Farokh Bulsara!
oh sorry, if i hurt you. but if you could speak hungarian, you understand what i wrote... sorry, my mother tongue isn't the english, but the hungarian. I've just learnt english for 1 year.
I understand what you wrote, and i DO speak Hungarian also, i was born in Budapest. You translate everything literally. It doesn't make much sense that way. Thanks....
I think it's due to the recording cause all the songs are a half tone up...for this reason the voice of freddie sounds better than other live shows...
Grande, grande, grande...
i think queen and freddie tried to bring back as much of there old sound as they could with stand, since it was the first and only time with freddie that they would be there!
Don't you all remember that on 'Live Killers' in the song Now I'm here Freddie sings with the audience and then he says "You fuckers are good". It's just a joke!
Keep in mind that large parts of this audience had a rather very basic knowlegde of English, and on top of that only limited access to CDs (or whatever it was back then) of western bands. I guess Hungarians must have relied on radio stations from Austria to listen to music they really wanted to hear. K.
Contact me if you want this concert on DVD. Both NTSC and PAL versions available. I got an HD source which I converted to DVD, complete with custom menus. DVD quality video. Stereo Sound.
No he said "fuck you" because when the audience sang after them they were too good! Anyway...Freddie said many times he didn't care what people said about him! But when they mention Queen it can start to get personal. Or the other way round i don't know :P

This is my favorite version of "Under Pressure," the faster pace works great for it I think.

He caught it in 85 and it then activated in 86 hence they put so much effort into the 86 concerts.
They planned the concerts/tours the year before so they must have known in 86.
Also they played amazingly in the 86 concerts.

He didn't start getting sick until 1987. Maybe he was HIV + during this time, but he didn't know until a year later.

not really.
watch wembley... watch almost any other concert of queen... or any other band for that matter.
its only this concert thats been popped up slightly. but I think its artificially sped up. because even the moves are a bit more energic...
