@T1819871H your smoking crack its been like this for 2 yrs.. I have both converters intact and the exhaust is complete minus the muffler.. you only burn valves if your running without manifolds.. many ppl run similar setups and go many many miles without a hiccup
its from the same engine family.. only smaller bore and shorter stroke.. the 4.8 and the 5.3 after 2005 also use the LS6 corvette heads.. funny thing is the lil 4.8 put out about the hp as the 98-99 Camaro and Firebird
no it doesnt.. the 4.8 and 5.3 have the same sized bore.. the only difference between the 2 is the stroke.. i have the #243 Ls6 heads on my engine ) the only snag however is that the 99-05 4.8s had 9.6-1 compression.. and the LS6 heades lowered it to 9.1-1 perfect for a some boost. :)
@beeterolds hey bud nice truck but the 4.8 did come with a header like an ls6 but unfortuanetly it just has the same casting differnt springs though and indeed the guy is right the ls6 is aluminuim and the ls2 heads which all are 243 bc of ccasting are iron but i have both of the heads and the springs for ls6 are yellow and the heaad is aluminuim but yeah i guess a good ls6 head comes in handy with a cam :)

4.8 has to small of a bore to use LS6 heads
