  • alright I give this song to Mr Bennett, but please be know that when Frank died Mr. Bennett respectfully said "The Master is Dead"... Before Frank there was nothing after Frank.. Bennett and Tom Jones...with all of my respects to Mr. Bennett there is only one Frank Sinatra

  • Beautiful San Francisco and beautiful song.

  • I thought I,d heard every Frank had recorded but i had,nt heard this Great version

  • I prefer Ronnie James Dio's version.

  • Simply wonderful!

  • Dean Martin's live version is the killer one where he tells the woman who screams to shut up

  • Of course Tony "owns" this song-what with his usual balls-on rendition-but this is entirely respectable....

  • Great version, but still, Tony Bennett practically owns this song!

  • @1On1WithUTube I respect Tony Bennett, but Dean Martin's version this song is a "dream"!

  • Frank said several times that he considered Tony Bennet a better singer than himself.

  • Nice to hear old blue eyes again!

  • I think I've heard another song Frank Sinatra sings about San Fransisco, but I'm not sure. It's lighter and has a somewhat faster tempo. It too was also very good. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • In my life THE MOST SONG, in this moment my student guide... sorry it´s a sad moment friend!

  • before I have lived San Francisco long long time ago maybe 30 years ago. I miss San Francisco,

  • before I have lived San Francisco long long time ago maybe 30 years ago ,I miss San Francisco,

  • before I ' ve lived San Francisco lon long time ago maybe 30 years ago ,I miss San Francisco,

  • I recently heard (Sinatra Channel, XM) that Frank put this out on a "45", only as a promo for some type of event, and, as legend has it, he did not want to interfere with Tony Bennett's successful release. If true, a nod to Frank. Who knows. Nice to hear this relatively obscure arrangement for the first time. Thanks for posting it.

  • I prefer the CHARLY CASTELLANI version. Listen in.

  • Tony Bennett can run rings around him on this song. The arrangement is nice, but the vocal is an abomination compared to Tony.

  • I prefer the Butterfly Joe version, actually.

  • I still say this is Tony´s song and he does it better. Nothing against Frank´s voice, but Tony´s classic version is more heartbreaking!

  • was thinking of this song ALLL the way back from my trip to San Fran. I luuurve that place

  • Nobody, really...NObody beats Tony Bennett singing this song.

  • @lukasnummer1- HE IS FREEKING FRANK SINATRA, CHARMAN OF THE BOARD,& OLD BLUE EYES HE BEATS TONY BENNET ANY AND I MEAN ANY DAY

  • This IS a Nelson Riddle arrangement BUT was conducted by Neil Hefti. Recorded in 1962 and Nelson at that time was still @ CAPITOL records so he could not "officially" appear on any SINATRA albums as Frank had already left to start REPRISE. But Riddle did some ghostwriting for that short period of 1960-1962 and then in 63 joined REPRISE himself.

This version was only released a few weeks in 62 then Sinatra pulled it - he did not want to compete with his friend's Tony Bennett's version.

  • just came back from a trip to san francisco, i fell in love with that place!

  • @Evikeuklavier ~ Yeah it's very easy to. It's great.

  • great-never heard before-who did the arrangement?sounds like nelson riddle

  • @hollbri1 The arrangement is by Neal Hefti. Nelson Riddle conducted the orchestra on this recording.

  • @verevoof ahh hefti! Satin Doll is one of my all time favs, no wonder this arrangement is so wonderful!
