@kchu0403 i think that was because she was a fire prodigy and zuko wasn't, so in her father's eyes it made her better, which in turn probably made azula smug and controlling. so she pretty much was ruling because she was better at bending than he was.

@ChasehaWing azula was fourteen and zuko was 16. ozai was told to kill his first born child so he could see what pain his brother, iroh, was experiencing so that he would stop trying to succeed his brother by becoming the next firelord. because of that, zuko's mom came up with a plan to kill Azulon(who is Ozai's father and current fire lord) so that Zuko didn't have to die. that's why she was banished.

@ChasehaWing well i typed child on accident, but yes his first born son. that's why azula was mocking zuko by saying he was going to die, because ozai was told to kill his first born son, meaning zuko. and i learned these ages by paying attention to the show, but if you need proof look it up on the avatar wiki. i'd post the links but it wont let me.

but we do. its in an episode called "the avatar and the fire lord", it tells the story of how avatar roku and sozin were the best of friends until roku was found to be the avatar and left on his journeys. when he returned, sozin told him that they should share the glory of the fire nation with the world by conquering. so he was convinced that he was doing the right thing, im sure ozai thought the same
