@Tradja Yep, the tip of the knife, to me at least, is essential. I hate it swedges or any thing that will thin the tip out. It makes it the tip pretty much useless for bushcraft. You'll break it even if you try making a fire board with a thin tip.
I also use to look for pitchwood in fallen trees. Need a strong tip to pry down to the phloem. There's really not much good dry tinder to use in an old growth forest here in the NW. It's usually pretty wet, but pitchwood does the trick.

I was never into "prybar" knives before I saw a friend do this exact demonstration with a Gen 1 Howling Rat. Blew my mind. Great video!
