In between her and the ground to the right is an electric rail that would kill them upon contact (if their body touches a certain part of it). Besides, I wouldn't really consider it unreasonable if they couldn't bring themselves to jump down with the train coming toward them. Sure, it would be great if they did jump down to help her and ended up saving her, but you can't blame them for not doing it. There just wasn't a lot of time, and two dying is much worse than one.
