glup. after the abolishing of ohrid patriarchate by the sultan ( and corrupted phanariotes from carigrad) in 1767, the macedonian churches and liturgy was replaced with greek speaking clergy, mostly from romania, and bulgarian speaking clergy. macedonians who went to the churches under the greek patriarchate were noted as greeks, macedonians who went to the churches under bulg egzarchate were noted as bulgarians.
