I absolutely love this movie!!!!!!! It scared the CRAPPPP out of me and i had nightmares for weeks, but to this day its among my favorite movies. When i saw this preview in the theaters, i told myself i would never see it, but my curiosity took over and i did. Soon after i watched the movie i read the book and LOVVVEEEDDDD ITTT!!!!!!!!!!! Great book and movie.
I felt the movie was waaaay to Americanized and bright. I really wanted to see a live action horror movie, like the book. I also love the book's "Other Mother", which sounded so much scarier then this movie's!!!!! disappointing.

ok the preview made it look scary, and the book was actually horrifying and I had nightmares for weeks when I read it all thsoe years ago, but the movie was just so bright and loud and childish
does anyone know what age group the book is meant for? I might go and read it. And I've seen this movie. It was haunting and disturbing at times, but it was very fascinating.
Writer Neil Gaiman is a Scientologist (class VIII auditor & ED of Birmingham Org, CS at Guardian Office, 3 Scieno courses in 1988, probably a pseudonym after. Gaiman family are big Scienos, father David (head of GO), sister Claire (exec in Scientology Missions Int), wife Mary (clear 2002), Mother Sheila, big time Scieno w/site, sister Lizzie (WISE Scieno front group). Gaimans are founding US patrons 2004 & 2006. Very sorry for him.

i dont understand how girls can like a book thats telling them to be dependent on a man, give up everything for a man, spread your legs open for a man? lol, that girl is hot in the movie though.
This was a kids' story and I found it to be one of the creepiest, most well-written, and disturbing little books EVER. A classic in its simplicity and plot. Gaiman is a genius. I'm nervous about how this will translate to film. Selig had better capture at least the spirit and ~mood~ of the book. If so, it's going to be A+. Looks great from this trailer. Otherwise, I can't say enough about the book. Jaw-droppingly superb.
Stay to the book, until Tim Burton makes his own movie!! Coraline is one of the best books I've ever read, it's such a pity this film doesnt do it justice.
Well,I don't,of course.Maybe Tim Burton suddenly decides to take over, changes everything and makes a whole new fantastic film that does the book justice. Who knows, miracles do happen, and Christmas is near, ain't it?
I went to the theater today and saw this exact tralier! You can hear the people in the theater talking so of course they did. Anyway, this looks like a freakin' cool movie I'm so going to watch it.
it's about a young girl named Coraline (not Caroline xD) who find a door that, when you open it, is all bricked up in her flat. Nope. NBC was based on a poem and concept drawings Tim did while at Disney, but he was directing another movie at the time. Sellick doesn't get a lot of notice for the fact that he directed, probably since he and Tim didn't really get along.
I have TNBC artbook, and it says Tim didn't want to direct the movie, he needed someone fresh, so he chose Sellick.
He had to stay with Disney because he created Jack while working on the movie 'Vincent', so the character was not entirely his property (Jack makes a cameo in 'Vincent', I think). Heh~
After watching the special features of my DVD copy of Nightmare Before Christmas, I can honestly say Burton and Selick couldn't have been on bad terms--Tim saw Henry as his alter ego. Tim turned the reigns over to Henry because Tim had to do Batman Returns.

i like that they aren't using tim because tim actually never directed any of the stop animation movies he produced except I think Vincent.
Tim's my hero but they need someone with a fresher take.
This movie looks bad anyways, the color schemes should have stayed with book images.

oh actually he did these stop-animation films:
Nightmare Before Christmas
Corpse Bride
James and the Giant Peach.

I can't wait to see it. Things seem to be going very well for Neil lately, which is great. He deserves it.

I thought Tim Burton directed The Nightmare Before Christmas....
yoonice 4 years ago
Nope. NBC was based on a poem and concept drawings Tim did while at Disney, but he was directing another movie at the time. Sellick doesn't get a lot of notice for the fact that he directed, probably since he and Tim didn't really get along.

Mmmm...I see.
Well, I'm glad I know that Selick is directing Coraline, now. The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed real well.

Heh~

nope, jack isn't in vincent. unless it's REALLY sublinimal, and it's not really a movie, it's like 5 minutes long.

After watching the special features of my DVD copy of Nightmare Before Christmas, I can honestly say Burton and Selick couldn't have been on bad terms--Tim saw Henry as his alter ego. Tim turned the reigns over to Henry because Tim had to do Batman Returns.
