Long live Long live Long live the king of mercy when ı heard yhat par ı said omgs this is the best song ı ever listend ıwas 7 years old when ı heard this song now ı am 14 and ı am proud of listening heavy metal LONG LİVE THE KİNG OF MERCY!
Blackie is a great singer, his voice is simply unique. This album is a masterpiece, but unfortunately the band WASP have always been underestimated by the general public ... and I wonder why.
You who call this a masterpiece, i have to agree with. I think this album would make an awesome movie or play. The story is in order from start to finish. Something many albums should be. Truly the greatest work of art in all of Metal. Weather you are a W.A.S.P. fan or not, no-one has produced such a piece of art. Blackie Lawless is a true King in the industry.
I have to agree with TearBlade this was such an under rated album ... the work and composition of this album was tremendous and I think this is one of Blackies best works ... it showed all the sides of his musical expertise.
Chris Holmes wasn't much better then Blackie at solo's back then , but this guy can solo, I think its Vito from White Lion, since they broke up in 91.
@LORDGOAT1976 The guitarist on The Crimson Idol album should be Bob Kulick if I remember correctly... but I might be wrong :D Anyway, it's a great guitarist who ever it is...
WASP has always been under appreciated. It didn't help that this album was originally only released as an import. I consider this the best album WASP ever performed and I consider it on par with "Mindcrime"
WASP was under appreciated. And I always loved them, saw them on "The Last Command" tour.
this album is the result of blackie taking 2 years out to write and damn i wish he'd do it again. the songs interlink and the story is scarily credible. This song brings the story together by including all the previous song themes and using powerful lyrics. It is the legacy of Johnathan.
The greatest Piece of Music, that was ever written!!
This Album brought me through the hardest times in my life and was everytime the best friend I could get in this times.
Every single note is perfect and the lyrics could not be better!!
Also are Blackie's Vocals on this record the most emotional I've heard so far and this is the final thing who makes this album such undescribable genious.
@Arzi52 yes, you re right. i also wonder, why this album is so underrated. i bought it 94 by coincidene and never would regret it. its a real masterpiece from the first to the last note. clever arrangements and lyrics. and really good drumming. i love it. the older albums from wasp honestly said, i m not a very big fan of it. except the headless children album
The Crimson Idol was and will always be Blackie Lawless' (Steven Duren) masterpiece. The album is a concept album, telling the story of the rise and fall of a fictional rock star named Jonathan Steel. Many think that this is really Blackie's life story. This is without a doubt my favorite album of ALL TIME!!!
Man, this tune gives me a chill whenever I hear it!....One of the most under recognized bands and definitely one of the most unrecognized lyricists!!!!!
I agree man, it's the image that drove so many away, hell, it was what drew me in, and what a journey it has been, bought the first album when it came out just for the cover alone, and have every album since, including some rare demos
@TearBlade Yes, you re right. I bought the Album at the day, it came out. It was an dis very good. You have to listen to it oftne, and you have to take time for this album. And thats why its good. Its a concept album, with great musicians, very good songs and fine lyrics. Long years i didnt hea rit. I sorted my cd´s last week and it fell in my hands. iput it in my cd.player and it was as great, as 18 years before. sorry for writing so much lol, but i m with your opinion. very underrated album
Such an underrsted album :( Blackie Lawless is amazing and his skills are clear on this album, this song even. Ot's amazing how he can control so many different emotions I feel when I listen to their music :)
Just got back from the show 'ere in Romania, when did the time fly?!? they sure keep u charged! Great album, great music, great musicians and hell of a show they make!
i think not even one song in the whole world reminds PINK FLOYD because just nobody can play like them, its a music from another galaxy from another universe maybe...
A lot of friends tried to ban me from listening to W.a.s.p because of their acronym (We Ain't Sure Pal / We Are Satan's Priests / We Are Sexual Perverts) but after I talked to my parents, they said I was OK to listen to their music. Oh and I ditched my friends because of musical differences.
Same here! My parents did not like it at first but did not stop me. I came from a very conservative family ,but threw their hands up at me! I was my own person and you take quite a bit of hard hits from people who say they love you the most.Baby I was gone!
I'm argumentative, so there's that. He was probably just buzzed. xD Whatever, this has nothing to do with the song anymore. Fucking W.A.S.P. \,,\d(>.<)b/,,/

I believe Blackie Lawless would set this Country back on its feet again, but then some corrupted systematic idiots would probably shoot him dead like they did to JFK & MLK,JR. The Government does not seem to value good Presidents or Leaders anymore. Blackie needs to remain a Musician, because we still need him around.
