  • lol he just answered the phone....

  • How to be a vegetarian?

Step 1: Don't eat any meat and/or dairy products.

Did you know: Zebras have black stripes.

  • NEW YEAR RESOLUTION!!

im gonna be a vegetarian :) & im only 12

  • @kathleen781 ME TOO!!!!!!!

  • vegan

  • ovo lacto for a year :P

  • Kinda figured Howcast would make a video on this. Over a year now!!(:

  • Im just starting to be a vegi ^^ Hundreds of animals die everyday cause of our hunger :3

  • Bacon. Nuff said.

  • @TheAwesomeBunny1 DAMN YOU!! i was thinking of going vegetarian!! I FORGOT ABOUT BACON!!! jk :o

  • @TheMangos27 lol

  • im a vegation :D iv'e lost like 10 pounds

  • @SevernSweetAGs congrats and im not being sarcastic!!

  • i need my dayum meat im sorry.

  • Thank you Howcast. I have a coworker that is lacto-vegetarian...not vegan. She loves cake too much to become full vegan. Since I was a kid, I've eaten meat or eggs with every meal. If there was no meat, my family didn't consider it a "proper" meal. Since I started a diet eating only salad and fruits/vegetables (no meat), I don't think it would be a stretch to become vegetarian. It's not that bad, actually. Also, now I love eggplant!!!

  • @Auditor377 Technically, if you only eat salads and fruits and vegetables, than you're already a vegetarian. Just sayin'.

  • You will not need vitamins, calcium supplements, or omega-3 pills.

Do not be the dickhead who asks the servers about the food.

YOU CAN EAT PASTA, BREAD, POTATOES, etc; you will not fucking starve.

You really don't need eggs, fish, milk, ect; veganism is actually even healthier than vegetarianism (can you name any other animal dependent on the milk of a different species??)

Have fun. You will be healthier.

  • @extraheavybass Why are you so vulgar and angry regarding something so simple.

  • Step 1: Dont eat meat

    Step 2: Eat vegetables only

    Optional: Eggs, Soy, and milk.

  • Why is the ad for this video about a gigantic burger and Jeremiah Weed? That's damn cruel.

  • A vegan does not give up meat, poultry, fish, AND/OR their biproducts.

A vegan give up meat, poultry, fish, AND their biproducts.

... and this guy looks bloated. That is all.

  • It was quite nice to see that after I became a vegetarian I started to feel better in every way.. Before this I always thought that vegetarians have nothing to eat and there is nothing as delicious as meat dishes. Well, I proved myself that I was so wrong. I've lost weight like 10 pounds, and I wasn't even overweight at the first place! This is probably the best thing ever happened to me :D

  • i need help to know how to eat sesame seeds , flax seeds and sunflower seeds .. someone help me , i am new to vegan.

  • Very nice and informative! Just one thing though: you will not need multi-vitamins or suppliments. Every single bit of nutrients that ur body needs, you can get from plant-based foods (yes even omega 3s and B-12!). U just need to do ur research and when your body is lacking in one area it will let you know. No vitamins or supplements needed, u just have to do some reading and listen to ur body

  • I'm becoming a vegetarian for the environment. But I believe some animals are meant to be eaten. But these days, I don't think they should be anymore.

  • @feiy06

Just interest. How should they be ment to be eaten?

  • I call myself an "unofficial vegetarian". I don't actively avoid meat, I will eat meatballs or sausages or just to be polite when I have dinner at someone elses house, but I don't like meat either. Ever since I was a kid, I only ate a little bit of meat, now I sometimes skip it entirely. When I was little my mom tried to put me on veggie burgers, but I hated them.

  • This is how you become a vegetarian.

    1. promise or swear you will NEVER eat MEAT FISH AND OTHERS to GOD.

    2. if you have any meat or fish just throw them out.

    3. if your getting dreamy about food, just think why you think its horrible to be a non- vegetarian. ex: your killing a soul inside of a animal of any others, would it be horrible and like a nightmare someone kills you and starts to eat you up?

    4. Make a chart or get a calendar and put an X on each day that you DONT eat meat.

  • @36marshmellow

This leaves out all the fancy stuff of vegetarism. Doesn't it?

  • Comment removed

  • I've been a pescetarian for a about a year and now i hardly ever eat fish and sometimes i do want to be a full vegetarian but my parents want me to take fish oil

  • @iluvanimexanimals

Buy some profóund books, that are kinda cheap if you buy them used. And explain your parents why you don't need to do it ;D

  • actually it is just for hippies

  • @hobo12381 you callin my mother a hippe?!?!?!

  • Some wines are vegan, it is just a matter of looking at the labels!

  • @RebeccaKatsuya

She said vegetarian. And that's not right. BTW Ovolaktovegetarianism isn't that strict. If it would you couldn't drink apple-juice that industrialy produced, cause from time to time rats get into the machines ;D cheers

  • @greenwoodonearth Yeah, I know she said vegetarian, the reason I said there were wines that were vegan is because if something is vegan then there are also wines that are vegetarian because being vegan is much stricter than being vegetarian. (Vegetarian means you cannot eat mean, whereas vegan means you can't eat any animal products such as gelatin, dairy, or the fish scales they use to filter wine.)

  • @RebeccaKatsuya

Yes, I agree, that the vid confuse vegetarian and vegan a lot. Sounds like a hard thing to get vegetarian, cause you are made believe (as a newby) that you have to do all the things you do as a vegan, as a vegetarian too. Maybe an update of the video title from vegetarian to vegan would do a little better.

  • i want to be a vegetarian but im allergic to almost every thing i eat. -_-

  • Howcast I understand the steps in becoming a vegitarian but how do you repel the urge to be irratable and biggoted.

  • This is so gross once my doctor told me I had to eat the omega 3 fatty acid pills but they were so gross I threw them out...

  • pasta without meat....

  • I saw videos on how they kill pigs for us. I am NOT having any bacon, ham, or any other pig meats ever again! I don't eat steak either. Pretty much the only meat I eat is chicken and its because I don't have enough iron so if I don't eat meat I get really weak.

  • @PinkMonkeyThing /watch?v=O3JV3Qo5dLg

you will hate me for this

  • @PinkMonkeyThing

I can explain nutritional aspects of iron-insufficiency to you, I think. This shouldn't be a big deal. cheers.

  • huhuhu i wanna be a vegetarian cos i want to add 10 more years in my life.. :)

but its hard for me to follow.. i can't resist meat including chicken :p

    owh god!

  • This video makes it sound hard to be a vegetarian... When I moved in with my girlfriend (who was vegetarian) we just got some veg cookbooks and that was it.

Cooking doesn't take long either for those who think it might be complicated, I have some recipies that take 10-15 min from start to table.

  • I LOVE MEAT. MEAT 4 LIFE!!!

  • Vegans are deficient in about 3 vitamins or minerals.

A standard American diet is dificient in about 7.

You do not need that multivitamin. all-creatures d org/health/vegandiets d html

    (replace d with a dot)

  • in my families house, if u dont eat meat, u probably wont get fed. and u never play with ur food (we have animals in the backyard)

  • howcast respondes?

  • you know you missed out a type of vegetarian... some veggies eat fish, but will not beef, bacon etc.

  • @PatchworkDuckie They are pescetarian, not vegetarian. Fish are animals. The vegetarian society and wikipedia agree. :)

  • @PatchworkDuckie

They're called pescatarians. Not vegetarians. cheers

  • @greenwoodonearth i know....

  • Why make a video. Just to say: "Don't eat meat!"

  • You don't need to take any supplements on a v*gan diet... I don't take any. :\

Plus, you don't need to pay attention to protein. We, as humans, do not need very much of it- only 10% of our calories should come from protein.

And, calcium is easy too, once you incorporate lots of yummy organic leafy greens into your diet! Ooh-- and almonds!! :D

  • wtf i want steak

  • Ovo-lacto it is! :D

  • okay im a vegetarian and really we are currently too obsessed with labels right now ok? im sick and tired of people telling me im not a vegetarian becuz i eat eggs.....THATS A VEGAN! same thing but different group jeez. oh btw, while you're out there trying to be vegan y are u swallowing omega fish pills? you kill the fish in order to get the pill...how else are you going to get it? give the fish lypo suction???? U R A VEGETARIAN IF U DON'T EAT MEAT END OF STORY!!!!

  • @Disturbed101Fan Flax is rich in omega3. No fish involved. Being vegan for a while is not that bad, expecially if you have loads of time on your hands to cook your own meals, the chance to buy cheap milk(soy) and make your own cheese(tofu). The only vegetarians that can stay veggies forever are those who eat cheese and eggs, all the other ones should take a break every 2 years. Best of the best would be veggie 3/4 days a week. But then you'll be blamed by the hard-core followers.

  • @casalingalcolizzata

Yes, this leads to another point. In the video they talk about taking supplements: You don't need them as a (ovo-lacto)-vegetarian. My doctor makes blood tests all the time on vegetarians and mentioned you might only get problems as a woman with a hard period (iron). But, of course, if you know a little about nutrition this won't be a big deal. cheers

  • @Disturbed101Fan

vegetarian = vegan. You are a ovo-lacto-vegetarian. Me too. Often people tend to call us just vegetarians and call the vegetarians vegans. I feel, like I am a vegetarian. Cheers.

  • Hahahaha! This is a great upload!

  • No will power needed if you see where meat comes from. Look up the YouTube video: Farm to Fridge - The Truth Behind Meat Production. It's enough to stop you from ever eating meat again.

  • While the effort is appreciated, there is a lot incorrect information in this video clip. I have been a vegetarian over 30 years and know that if you eat good balanced meals with plenty of healthy foods, you do not need vitamin supplements. You don't need calcium fortified milk supplements if you eat dark leafy green veggies. There are good wines that are vegan and alcohol is not off the list. This website will give you all the info you need: pcrm.org/kickstartHome/

  • I love animals, loved them since I was little. I'm giving up meat.

I going to be a Vegetarian from now on.I'm not even going to drink milk.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SONG? ITS SOO GOOD

  • I'm thinking of becoming vegetarian but I'd still eat dairy products and eggs. Though I'm not sure how to tell my mom. She buys the food and cooks so usually I only eat meat at dinner time when it's unavoidable. We had steaks tonight and I made some comments and hinted around about not wanting to eat meat anymore

  • @madrenee The classic vegetarian does eat dairy products and eggs, so, no worries there. As for telling your mom, it definitely depends. I come from a real meat-and-potatos kind of family and they opposed it at first, but grew to respect my commitment. You may have to take control of your own diet and let your family know easy meals and foods to feed you. Maybe even invest in some cook books and make your own meal once in a while? Its not always easy, but its well worth it. Good luck!

  • @madrenee that exact;y how i feel

  • I wouln't tell anyone I was vegetarian because it's none of their business. Nobody even cares that I don't eat meat. If anyone asks I tell them that I don't digest meat very well. If I said I was vegetarian then there would be a discussion etc on the pro and cons so I don't even bother. Its a personal choice.

  • What's the point of not usig dairy?

They'd kill all cows because of it!

And it's not like you can ceep a cow in a cage like a chicken.

  • If you are eating healthy, which means enough vegetables and fruit, you have no need for multi-vitamins, and neither for omega-3 pills, therefor you should prepare your meals with plant oils, which provide enough omega-3.

Also I wouldn't unnecessarily walk around and tell just about anybody I'm vegetarian, just mention it when it's needed, e.g. when you're invited to dinner.

  • @juicemonkey222 ikr they never do

  • i thot vegetarians just didnt eat red meat

  • i am vegetarian you dont need vitamins just pretty much try to avoid red meats, not eating or drinking dairy and no meats in vegan. if your vegetarian it is your choice how far you go if its no meat what so ever or you only at fish, but a vegetarian can lead a perfectly normal life if you get your protein from other places on the food pyramid........ dont trust this video...... :)

  • Stupid video. Why would you tell anyone you were a vegetarian. It isn't anyone's business at all. Someone asked me why I didn't have the roast beef at a buffet once...all I said was I couldn't digest beef very well. All they said was "oh". Nothing else at all. Nobody even noticed I wasn't eating meat.

  • you can only get vitamin b16 and b6 from meat

  • @VoyagesInEnglish Vitamin B6 is widely distributed in foods in both its free and bound forms. Good sources include meats, whole grain products, vegetables, nuts and bananas. You can get b6 from other food sources you know. Do some research...

  • vegetarians are pussies.

  • I've been a vegetarian for a week so far (feels much longer) and I'm getting a little bummed over some stuff. I'm getting a little worked up over my vitamens and "gel-caps". I hope I haven't royally screwed up. (Started taking some Omega 3 pills today)

  • and a cat!

  • all i eat is dick

  • still drink milk and eat eggs, but from local farms where the chickens and cattle are ACTUALLY free range. And cheese is to damn good for me to give up....mmmmmmm cheeeeeeeese....

  • @malloryt19 Yes that is a good point, but if vegetarians are so worried they should be vegan, as any product from an animal is part of the industry, besides meat, animals are used to produce milk, cheese or any other bi product. If you eat ANYTHING with animal products in it you ARE part of the industry. If you don't eat the meat because you don't like animals to suffer but use products from them, then you wear rose coloured glasses and take the high road on a path bathed in blood.

  • do vegetarians eat animal crackers

  • @1988tahoe HHAHAHHAHAAA! I know i do, i could never give that shit up!

  • uhhhhh you need Whey to build muscle...you're robbing yourself of the health part if you don't take it in

  • om a veggie i love being one cause i love animals

  • There are some vegan wines...

  • LOL

  • vegetarians for the losers.

    meat for life.

    YUM !!

  • @martinlarsen20 stop affending me

  • @ILuvVirtualPets I'm vegetarian, and I eat cheese and eggs too. I only like chocolate milk.

  • i have allways been a vegetarian never even eaten meat not even once my parents started being vegetarinas before i was born so i just never had meat and even though i could now i dont want to i dont want to eat the flesh of an animal but that is a personal choice

  • I have been a pescetarian practically my whole life and have just realized it! I hate the taste of red meat and pork makes me sick. I occasionally eat chicken but have no problems giving that up. I will never give up my sushi though, LOL.

  • Why don't you stop eating at all and survive just from pills.

  • i started to be a vegetarian when i was 10 years old. i was weird because when i just 3 years old i started to love veggies when my friends told me they hated it at that age. i loved animals so much! and i still do. when my mom would give me meat i wouldn't touch it. i was born a vegetarian. now, i'm going to be 14 and i am still a vegetarian.

  • There is no reason you should be vegeterian.Killing animals is nature!Lions eat gazells, cougars eat deer.its all part of nature.

  • @Humberto4790 Last time I checked, humans don't have the speed, claws, or teeth required to catch and kill gazelles and deer.

  • @Humberto4790 the way that animals behave in nature is hardly analogous to us humans and its ridiculous to compare yourself in that way. they way that animals on factory farms are bred and killed by the millions is not natural in any way

  • @Humberto4790 i think some of the reasons vegetarians choose not to eat meat is not just because they're eating the flesh of an animal, but because animals in the food industry are basically tortured for their entire lives. the animals live in extremely inhumane environments surrounded by cruelty day in and day out. they are beaten, electrocuted with cattle prods, stepped on, and thrown around.

if animals were treated well, then i would have much less of an issue eating them.

  • Comment removed

  • @Humberto4790 - I'm doing it for health purposes, not because of shock videos and propaganda done by extreme organizations like PETA. So I'm not going to rage and spout off statements like "but we dont have teh claws!"

  • what is it called if you just don't eat mammals or birds, i'm really not wanting to eat them anymore but still want to eat fish

  • @therogletardrangler Its called a Pescetarian, or Pesce-vegetarian or Demi Vegetarian if you eat fish

  • @jenzieX3

been without poultry pork or beef for a week, felt kinda weak the first couple of days, now i feel great!

  • oh yeah same here.

I went vegan and first week I was SO hungry but now I feel better

  • i don't need all of this. living very well as vegetarian. :)

  • I never considered any of those steps before I became a vegetarian. I just jumped into it, so to speak. I was inspired of course, by non other than Bjørn Lomborg. I went to a lecture of his - and then I was sold. His charisma is just - wow.

  • im trying to be a vegetarian and i'm liking it. eveyrthing looks and feels better. i'm losing weight too.

  • You're pascatarian :D

  • I became vegetarian cold turkey one day after my teacher compared eating animals to eating babies.

    D;

And not all wine is clarified with animal products. A lot of wine use earthy materials, or boast that it wasn't clarified at all xD

But yes, I have to read the label of everything! It doesn't bother me though, I have no problem resisting meat ;D

  • i want to be a ovo-lacto vegitarian but its soooo hard i like meat but i hate what they do to make meat (i bet u i will never stop eating tacos and bacon)

  • Me too. (I'm mainly giving it a shot for health purposes.)

  • Free range farms don't torture their animals.

    They live rather happily :D

You don't have to give up meat if you eat from free ranged farms.

LOL this is coming from a vegetarian xD

  • does that mean they wait till the animal dies on it's own? I don't want to eat dead animal O_o just killed animal, it would be nice if they didn't have to suffer in the process though.

  • Well Im not sure, but I like to entertain the idea that the animals are happy.

I wouldn't eat animals that a free range either way.

  • yes but freerange farm meat is much more expen$ive...

  • i'm an ovo-lacto vegitarian

  • i wanna be a vegetarian, because its cruel what they do to the animals....but....its just so hard!

  • Do you loose weight if you become a vegatarian?? Like... this is a stupid question but can vegatarians eat eggs and candy and... chicken noodle soup? Lol.

  • Vegetarians can have eggs and dairy products, SOME candies, and no chicken noodle soup because the chicken stock/meat pieces. NO animal in their food unless it's from a milk or egg source.

  • oh... okay thanx :) i really needed to know

  • me 2

  • me 3

  • lol not just for hippies anymore !! xD

  • While all of my family is meat eaters, my father has been a vegetarian for 8 YEARS :O

So I have began to be one to just to see how it is, and I'm loving it :) (About a month now!)

    xXMistyXx

  • Good job on becoming a vegetarian! Welcome to the club. ^^

My mother is now the only vegetarian of the family; my sister, father and I are all ovo-lacto vegetarians, though my sister's nearly vegan x3

But have fun being a vegetarian! I was a meatlover once, but I found out much of the vegetarian stuff actually tastes much better =3

  • I am! People even ask me about my weight loss and I tell them that becoming a vegetarian helped it drop a lot :)

I'm lacto- ovo also, but I tend to naturally stay away from regular milk or cheese on a lot of stuff...

f.y.i. I've been addicted to salad this week for some reason :S

  • For me it would be a little too hard, meat is tasty you know..

  • hippes used to be vegitariens awesome!

  • im a vegitearian but i eat fish and drink milk!!!!

  • Technically that makes you a pescetarian, but if you gave up the fish you would be vegetarian. :)

  • greate^^ now i have a name for it :P

  • @jozephine111 and vegetarians drink milk. vegans don't

  • @jozephine111 - then you are not a vegetarian. vegetarians dont eat fish or any animals. good luck you can do it.

  • @jozephine111 In which case you are not a vegetarian.

  • @jozephine111 so your a pesco vegetarian, but who cares bout labels right?!

  • hah i don't know why everyone get's so uppity about the different kinds of being vegetarian. it's not that big a deal.

but i guess if you want to name it, i'm a lacto-ovo, but i still don't drink milk :]

  • i'm a vegetarian and i don't eat fish

and it only works if you commit and if

    don't commiit it won't work

  • i am a Vegetarian :-)

  • im a veggie!! i eat loads of crap

    and im a fat ass

why dont people eay healthy insted of just cutting out meat...duhhh!!!!!!!!

  • its so easy just dont eat meat hey i just made a tutorial!

  • quote from the movie twilight

"it keeps you strong but never fully satisfied"

  • i dont eat cow, pig, chicken, turkey, bird, and eggs. but i do eat fish occasionaly.

  • Pesco Vegetarian right here!

I still do the dairy, eggs and what not, but I just don't like meat, health wise mostly.

  • ok guys to clear some stuff up being lacto ovo, i know :) :

vegan, no animal products, including milk

lacto vegetarian : vegetarian that drinks mill

ovo vegetarian : vegetarian that eats eggs

lacto ovo vegetarian : vegetarian that consumes eggs and milk

pesco vegetarian: vegetarian that eats fish, and MAYBE poultry (chicken, turkey, etc)

ok you guys.... u can still eat fish and be a vegitarian... just not a vegan

  • Loovely!

  • ok, the last part about the wine is EW!

  • It's all about perspective...there are factories that raise fish in mass and treat them just as terribly as chickens, cows and pigs; they are crowded in tanks, kept in murky, disgusting water. They are sentient beings like anything else...but that's just my opinion.

  • multivitamines in pills aren't a very good thing beacouse all of those vitamines are filled in one tiny place, our body has a very hard time digesting that. it's better if you get those pills that dissolve in wather.

  • Comment removed

  • 'Omega 3 pills' Anyone know where most of the pills get the omega 3? All the ones I've seen are from a fish source. Maybe i'm wrong, but I've never seen any omega 3 pills that didn't come from fish. I've been a vegetarian for quite a few years.

  • No, your stupid.

    Your not vegitarian then.

    I'm vegitarian, I don't eat fish.

Vegitarian means you don't eat any animals, fish obviously are animals.

    Besides, mroe for the cause.

  • Comment removed

  • Woohoo.(:

  • Vegie power

  • ok, now where is the video on how to love and enjoy red meat??? Veggies suck. I don't want to hear any idiots telling me that its not healthy and that it shorten's my life, because I don't really care if it does or doesn't. I want to ENJOY what I eat, not live life scared of what will happen. A vegitarian could die in a car accident right now. So where does what they eat come in to play there, huh?

  • maybe its cause you're a 900 lb LOSER who sits alone at burger king every night stuffing cow shit up your ASS.

  • no, sorry. You are WAY THE HELL off. I am 6'1" and 210lbs, married to a petite wife, 2 kids who are thin and have a great life. Don't be pissed at me because you are a vegitarian that is overweight and can't figure out why. I eat what I want, WHEN I want and enjoy life. I'm sorry if you can't and DON'T. Spread your hate somewhere else because nobody here cares.

  • haha

hun, you don't know anything about me.

& YOU'RE saying I'm the one spreading hate??

you come here hating on vegetarians for no fckuinggg reason.

yu dont even know where meat comes from.

they store it in of puddles of blood

    and animal shit for months

and then they package it up.

yeah have fun with your life.

you're gonna die in a year anyways

  • apparently, YOUR only definition of a "great life" is eating meat.

there's more to life than eating, hun.

and YOU wouldn't know that cause I bet you made up that whole story about your "happy" family.

vegetarians have GREAT LIVES and a lot less to worry about.

    lonely fat ass

    go to hell.
