Every now and then someone has to come on here and inform everyone that the guy was sold the wrong lug nuts where it would thread but strip the thread when load was applied. it probably felt like it was tight but when the car placed all that tension on them they stripped off. :)

remind me to never let you idiots on here change a set of rims... i noticed not one of you said he just went around the bolt pattern... thats the problem. you tighten a bolt than skip a bolt than tighten than skip and so on, go around at least 3 times on every bolt. you do this so they can't get play. (odd number bolt pattern.) hope i've informed some of you guys the rim on a friends silverado went down the road past him going 75, should be dead. luckily just 5k in damage. he didn't listen.

I think that's a case of fatigue failure of the lug nuts due to over tightening them several times. that's why you should always use a torque wrench on the lug nuts or if you are experienced then by feel. I never use/allow impact wrenches to tighten my lug nuts.
