Creature lives COULD have been one of the most revolutionary songs of the new millenium if they had spent more time on this record as opposed to just speeding through everything to get it all done :/ My Opinion...
@westlifeizqueer Yeah for sure that ONE bass line they play over and over was a little simple and boring in my opinion. But I loved the other aspects of it like the intro and lyrics.
Every album is fucking awesome! Grand statement, but they are the most consistent rocking band of the last decade, also including Clutch of course, which Mastodon will probably agree with, since Clutch is one of the first bands to give them a respectable audience and Neil Fallon has the best vocals on "Leviathan." These two are the only bands I have seen which continually evolve and change from album to album but still fuckin' rock hard and keep their own unique sound.
Black Tongue is one the best Mastodon´s tune!!!! the album holds a bunch of great slam songs, like Blasteroid and Spectrelight! i can´t wait to sing Creature lives with this metal goddess!!!!
Creature lives is one of my favorite mastodon tracks ever. The more I listen to it the more I get to feel the BIG arena rock style vocals, and that one just SLAMMING headbanger riff. Kind of reminds me of Queen or maybe something Muse would write. Troy's BIG SOARING, LOUD as fuck vocals just give it such energy and makes it really fun. And plus, it's about the creature from the black lagoon. How could you NOT like it?
@SirRunk I know. I was saying how epic I thought Troy's vocals were though. those BIG BOOMING vocals in the bridge parts that Troy's known for. Just makes it so epic.
It's like they wrote stand out songs for ten different albums and just threw them on one compilation album. It sounds like a greatest hits album or something, how cool. :)
btw, funny info. the song "bedazzled fingernails" - they named it like that because brents fingers looked so "bedazzled" playing that intro-riff. :D read it in an interview. have no idea why brann didn't say that now though.
@JohnDouglasFranco I don't think that's it. On the record you can hear Brent, but here it's almost as if only Troy is singing. Maybe it's just a different vocal arrangement, or a version that didn't land on the record.
@babyg474 Thats because thats Troy singing and not Brent as it is on the record. The version in this video was released exclusively for the "visualizer" they put out for a week or so. I personally think it sounds better with Troy singing, but, I love song anyway.
haha "...on your toilet" funny guy, very nice guy in person too. If you get to see him after a show, he will most likely have a conversation with you if you confront him in the right manner.
I think they just forgot about it :P I don't think they recorded this album in one go, but track by track separately over the years and that's why they didn't have good footage for the extras dvd...
They realized this and thought maybe they should do something to make up for this and that's probably why they included stuff like the AR-experience.
I hope that for their last concept album, they include a large making off again on the special edition.

It's because on the cd they're stereo, and you're most likely watching this in 360p which converts it to mono.
