  • Holy shit he is fast. Wow...

  • Olympic weightlifting at its finest, sports doesn't get much cooler than this.

  • amazing

  • Its all in ur hed mateio

  • We had a great super heavy---Ken Patera. And THIS snatch by a man barely HALF of Patera's weight, was ONLY SIX POUNDS LESS. A 77 Chinese lifter has done 1.5KG more, yet, this lift impresses me substantially more. I feel he could have made 177.5 had he taken it on this attempt. It's like Kurlovich doing 215 he sure looked good for 5KG more.

  • im surprised he can do that much weight with arms that long.

  • Holy fuck...

  • this is roughly 380 lbs? thats alot

  • @millachipmunk yea thats a lot thats close to lifting your mom!

  • @tldevilsh haha good one!

  • @millachipmunk lol i was just being dumb but i'm glad you have big enough heart to laugh with me

  • Best snatch ever!

  • You can actually hear a whoosh sound as he gets under the bar.

    That is fast,

  • looks like he ripped his ballls apart..lol

  • taner sagir is awesome! :D

  • Vegan powers. You can tell by his physique.

  • @spoonr47 What the hell are you talking about.

  • There are people in my gym who seem bigger than him and can't deadlift what he snatches. lol He is deceptively strong, as someone else said in here, like the powerlifter Tom Martin who deadlifted 350kg at 82.5kg!

  • what weight class is he?

  • there are literally no videos of taner clean and jerking on the internet. He did do 202kg in athens so there must be some other big clean n jerk vids from this awesome awesome lifter

  • Very few lifts in history are in a class with this one. Any such man is a physiological miracle, as few men can dead lift that much. It can be guessed he did 5 kilos more in training. Almost 400 pounds by man under 170 pounds, with upper body build so deceptively strong.

  • I wish I could even deadlift that amount, let alone snatch it.

  • meh. Chinese are still better.

  • @MrDistantFuture i dont understand how you can meh an olympic gold medalist

  • great technique! incredible!

  • im sure this guy can dunk

  • he is so fucking fast

  • HELAL OLSUN KARDJALİ'NİN GURURU :)

  • THIS IS A STYLEISH LIFT

  • strong!!

  • i have found out in the gym that strength is 75% CNS and only 25% "muscles"....

  • Extremely strong people yeah. Most of all of us guys are very, very, very much stronger than we are able to do in the gym for that simple fact. Our bodies are built to be strong for survival but our CNS just isn't used to it.. you're right man

  • u now kno the truth! welcome to the land of true strength friend. i was told dat it takes 7-10 days for the CNS to recover from a eyeballs out 1 rep max deadlift

  • Yeah, if u look at isolated excercise, but the person with more muscels would be strongest in excercises completely different than anything he nor the guy training for strength has done.

  • @Shokeybutsi cns?

  • @benyboi2k8 central nervous system

To be able to send strong signals to the muscles to make them contract as hard as possible=Low rep training

  • Damn he is fast!

  • What does USA football player have to weigh and how does he have to be built, to do that 380? Answer---probably none of them can do that lift, no matter what. It's 98.394% of what Patera did at about 331 pounds. Hell, it's just 34 pounds less than the supers CJ'd in Melbourne in 1956. Derek Poundstone would have to snatch 315 kilos to equal this lift on percent. It ain't gonna happen. Rusev's 157.5 was so damn easy I think he too could have done the 172.5 weighing 2 kg less.

  • awsome!!!

  • Very very good athlete.....

The most interesting think IMHO is that he's a clear Ectomorph.

    Look his wrists!OMFG

  • Hardest armwrestling match I ever won was against man with thin arms. It was so spooky. No way would Sagir have traded his lifting ability for a championship level bodybuilder physique. Doug Hepburn said most people would rather see a show of strength than a man posing on a platform.

  • @GreeceIMBA

Yeah but look at the guy's legs... tree trunks!

He's clearly got it where it counts for this sport. Besides, when you have to stay within the limits of a weght class, you'd want to distribute your muslce mass as efficiently as possible for the purposes of the lifts - so clearly the wrists don't play into it that much.

  • Perepetchenov's legs are more obvious than Sagir's, he's 3 inches shorter and snatched 2.5KG more, he takes first in record book HOWEVER Sagir's has more merit due to the height difference and looked good for 5KG more.

  • what is this merit i hear ppl talk about??? is that the overall technique needed to lift?

  • Is it Turks giving thumbs down? I just said Sagir's was more impressive, what more do you want? I can't give you people all the islands Greece took with Western help!!!

  • take that.

  • Why are you all negging me? JEALOUS? >:(

  • mundar ettik çocuğu.. böyle yetenek, böyle yakışıklılık. muntazam estetik vücut, muhteşem teknik, sempatiklik, doğaüstü yetenek bir kaç yılda bitti hepsi.. .

herkesin sempati duyduğu, kızların aşık olduğu, temiz yüzlü kaç tane halterci var dünyada.. yazık. başka ülkede olsa dünya çapında efsane olurdu..

Harcayın bakalım böyle yetenekleri, elinden tutmak yerine sırtından başarısını sömürün asalak sülükler.

  • kendini harcatmasaydi

sadece o degil ki naim suleymanoglu da oyleydi

hani halil mutlu niye devam ediyo ?

adamin kendi mazeretini devlete saga sola yuklemeyin

  • Sagir and Perepechenov---both 77kg lifters. But Sagir stands three inches taller, meaning, less muscle per inch of height. 385 for Oleg, 375 for Taner, Taner's impresses me more. Look at Oleg's development---impressive. Sagir's draws a yawn. All the more impressive therefore are his lifts. Looks like 177.5 would have succeeded. The musings about his CNS efficiency are eyebrow-raising and should be fascinating study for any neurologist. Bet he'd be great armwrestling.

  • Veryyyy Powerful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can't be more wrong. olympic lifting is all about power, which is strength and speed. i think you meant strength, but that would be wrong too. every one of these guys can squat well over 500lbs. around 300% their body weight. big fat powerlifters would struggle to squat that weight without equipments and getting their ass to their ankles.

  • Some very good olympic lifters started as powerlifters.

...and what has fat got to do with it?

  • @JacktheDaniels I don't want to start another powerlifting vs. weightlifting rant, but I'm just interested who those lifters might have been?

  • @epaluoma

I might have had more in mind when I wrote that comment but right now I can only think of one: 105+ Shane Hamman.

Just wikipedia the name if you're not familiar. It doesn't say what his snatch was but I think it's 197.5.

  • @JacktheDaniels Yes I'm familiar with Shane Hamman and Mark Henry would be another superheavy american. They were both great and we never saw the last what Hendy might have to offer since he left strength sports for wrestling industry.

Well the reason I asked that there aren't that many who have changed from the one to another -- or taken it even further -- competed in both of these at the top level.

  • @epaluoma

Yeah, it's true, they are far and few between.

The other one I was thinking of was Mikhail Koklyaev, but that doesn't really work since he went the other way (weightlifting to powerlifting).

I had completely forgotten about Henry.

  • if you saw this guy at your gym you'd think he was a weakling but in reality his strength is absolutely stunningly higher than any meathead you see

  • Turks lift weights with CNS (central nervous system).

  • Yes this must be true there is such a thing as "nerve strength" the ability to transmit signals from brain to muscles. So some SCIENCE may be involved here! Other than muscle size, connective tissue MUST be strong.

  • you guys do realize that motor neurons are in the peripheral nervous system and that no nerves of the CNS are under voluntary control

  • one word...BEAUTIFUL.

  • how in the world...he doesn't even look like he lifts. but that snatch is very close to a wr, correct?

  • I've been an Olympic lifting fanatic for what...40-odd years? But this lift, by this young man, is unbelievable. In modern parlance, this is a truly SICK lift. They made a big deal out of Vardanyan and Zlatev being "muscleless wonders" in the '70's and '80's, but this guy.....it's simply incredible. To make a lift this heavy, with such a seeming lack of muscle, I can't comprehend it. And it looked EASY!! Snatching 380 lbs, weighing about 169 lbs, built like he is.....too bad about Beijing!

  • what happen to this kid, he was so good in athens then slowly got worse and worse.

  • UNBELIEVEABLE SNATCH, SAGIR IN HIS PRIME! 172.5 kilos, isnt 173.5 the all time wr ?? so - 1 kg thats awesome !

  • long arms, little muscle, fantastic lifter...always fun to watch someone with technique and speed like this

  • Too bad he bombed out in the snatch @ Beijing

  • now I know what they mean with "blinding speed", i was actually felt like i missed a part cuz i was blinded lol

  • wow O.o

  • When I see him doing Clean and Jerk he seems to have a little relative difficulty holding the bar on his shoulders because he doesn't have strength there. He is still the best!

  • he has no muscle since he can just get under the bar so fast!

  • Who needs muscles if you have strength!

  • He's probably my favorite lifter

  • muscleless wonder!!

  • i like this lifter sooo much

  • his slim muscles show that he's trained to do extremely quick reps, hence his speed. too bad he fucked up this european championship. he was favourite!

  • u just want to trick him into ass raping u

  • You have issues...

  • small mind, must compensate with ignorance

  • His speed is mind boggling.

  • see how he settles at the bar like a zen machine then when its time he just explodes, with control that comes from 1000's of hours of training.

  • very quick

  • nice video lol!

    xxoo

  • great lift, just great
