  • i only hear nfss sound cus is too sick,,,,thats true it has less content but for me the gameplay is pure adrenaline. for simulation i will go for gt5

  • NFS:S is such a good game, no other racing game actually implemented the effect racing has on the driver; your body is thrown around, and you will be concious of the danger and intense speeds. in comparison look how smooth and non realistic forza's driving is compared to nfs:s. shift is without a doubt is a better racer, but forza has so much more content, if the two were combined oh my I would have the perfect racing game.

  • I have to say I was supremely impressed by SHIFT. and I used to bash the NFS franchise.....

  • Here are the true facts that probably everyone agree with:

Shift has much more and better FX like that shaking effect when you reach higher speeds, but Forza 3 has much more cars and tracks and also has a little bit different feel when you drive different cars.NFS Shift doesn't reach those REAL simulation standards.

Both are great games - if you want more realistic simulation with lots of cars buy Forza 3, but if you want to enjoy the graphics and especially the effects - buy Shift... (:

  • yes shift looks more realistic in cockpit but ive owned both games ... still own forza ... but forza is more realistic were it matters ... in the cars performance .. in shift having about 30 different cars that act no were near the same is impressive but forza has 450+ cars ( dlc included ) that feel completely different to each other ... plus it has the more powerfull graphics engine out of them both and more tracks ... FORZA 3 WINS

  • when playing forza3 what did you use:

    xbox 360 steering?

    logitech g25/g27?

    xbox 360 controller?

  • I used the XBOX 360 wheel, but now use the Fanatec Porsche 911 Wheel.

  • Actually, this comparison should be make again because with Patch 1.2, some people have make some physic mod which can make NFSS much more realistic, one of them call SHARP MOD 3.1, which I strongly suggestion all of you buy a NFSS PC copy and download 1.2 patch also that mod, and have a try, you may found a lot of difference in realism from the X360 or PS3 version~

  • The true is SHIFT win can Forza 3 in realism only in PC version, because there are sharp mod or GT mod which can make the physic of the game much much more realistic~ Search and Download now, for those XB360 or PS3 drivers, buy a PC copy and install one of the mod (I prefer G27+Sharp Mod1.6) You may found a lot of difference in physic and gameplay~

  • how come my need for speed shif pc didnt work :(

and demo.... sum1 tell me wats rong

  • I LOVE SHIFT!!!!....The only thing I don't like about shift is that you get points for everything.

  • For realism I prefer Shift, the cockpit view is AWESOME!!!, but for the amount of cars, Forza 3 wins, and the car showcase is cool too in forza 3, but the cocpit view...meh.

  • Forza looks really bland compared to SHIFT, in my opinion anyways.

  • great vid mate ;)

  • Thank you, 9800GtGameplay, much appreciated.

  • The G-loading on the NFS Shift side is awesome. I had to watch it again

I am, frankly, shocked to see that level of sim in an NFS game.

  • i have both NFS SHift and Forza 3 for the 360. Both gams are awsome, but NFS Shift just sounds sooooooooooooo SICK!!!!!! thats the big diffrence with me,i like the frame rate on both, its just the sound dffrence is totally a big diffrence. Awsom racing games tho, there the only 2 that i play.

  • I would have to agree, Shift is definitely up there in sound quality, the thing shakes the house!!

  • I dosent like Nfs becuse it so loud.. :P

  • It's a great video. Just keep in mind, Forza 3 runs at twice the frame rate that Shift does. It's a pretty big difference.

  • Good point, jimmyplane, and it is quite a difference as you say.

  • On PC, NFS runs at 60+fps.

  • I have Shift for the PC as well and it runs very well, 60 FPS as you mention. I really like both games, I do wish Forza was a PC product, maybe it will make it to the PC someday.

  • Yes, I agree completely, I think both the Forza and Gran Turismo would benefit greatly if released, in addition to their console versions, as PC simulators. But it's all politics; neither Microsoft nor Sony would twitch and "share" such lucrative exclusive franchises.

  • True, and I doubt they would sell as many copies on the PC. However, given that Polyphony Digital has sold well over 50 million copies of the series--well in excess of Forza total sales for that series--you might think that they could do a PC version without fear of losing any exclusivity.

They are both 'system seller' games, but no matter how good they are, how realistic, there are those who will forever mock them simply because they are console only games. It's too bad, really.

  • There were actually some rumors floating around that GT5 might make it to the PC at some point, but that was a few years back. I haven't heard anything new on that front. One can only hope.

  • Yeah, that would be awesome. I hope they (GT5) at least get some damage, and decent AI this time around!! It is nice to see that GT5 is above the 8 car limit, that is something that the PC could definitely take care of, 8 cars just isn't enough in my opinion.

  • I play at 72 fps

  • Great to truly "see you!" You rock! :)

  • Thanks Steve...I miss the good old days, when we were film makers together :)

  • Change the FOV in the mulitplayer setup to 80 degrees and Forza cockpit will look much closer to Shifts. Plus there's shifting animations in Forza 3 now. Patch was released today.

  • Outstanding news, and thank you for the POV tip, I was wondering if there was some way to change that. I tried to reduce some of the bounciness in the Shift cockpit, but could not find a way to do it on the PS3 version. Although, given that it took about 7 hours to assemble that segment, I am most likely not going to be able to refilm it, but I do have a special feature added to that segment for the final video that will give a better look at things.

    Thanks jimmyplane!

  • @jimmyplane

Hmm, now that I think about it, I may have time to redo this. If I change the POV in MP, will it carry over to single player? If not, I can always setup a private MP race and do it that way. Will get stuff patched up and see what sort of time I have...still have to finish the magazine review!

  • Sorry, my bad. Not multiplayer, but "multiscreen."

It's an option to pull the camera back in the cockpit view so it looks more like NFS shift. By default, Forza 3's camera is too close to the steering wheel.

  • Got it, thanks again!

  • @myke6699.

I have the Driving Force GT wheel (love it) and that is great news! Shift is a fantastic work, but the wheel is just a bit on the twitchy side for my tastes. Plenty drivable, but can get odd at times.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  • Great news TheBanditHunter, thanks for the heads up!

  • @RVSimmerman

There's also the latest patch for SHIFT (PS3- Nov 23)- the handling feels much better with the new update and if you're using FFB wheel (I'm using G25), it feels tighter and more forceful.

  • Forza 3 is coming out with a patch Dec 8th that will fix the shift animation.

  • The full length video is near completion, and will release just about the same time as the magazine is released....stay tuned, and thanks for all of your support!!

  • I hadn't noticed about the hands in Forza, but I was using manual shift.

  • I still can't understand why turn10 did'nt bother making the hands move to the gear stick. If you have forza on the exterior view you can see the driver using it.

  • Whoops--NFS Shift on the left, Forza 3 on the right.

  • NFS Shift definitely provides for a bumpy ride, and the feedback is awesome. Forza required a much more delicate touch, I was not able to toss it into the corners like the NFS car, and the road surface did not feel as bumply, but they are both outstanding to drive.

  • Excellent. NFS Shift looks pretty awsome. Forza looks arcadish.
