The Bible does not teach eternal punishment. God's love and mercy endures forever. Does it really endure forever or only in this life? How can it be Good News if it doesn't translate to the afterlife?
1 Timothy 4:10- This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.
Jamey, around 7:00, you didn't actually interact at all with with what Bell was saying - he doesn't need you to say "It's good news because Christ was crushed for our sins in our place" because what's he's questioning is the philosophical framework that requires God to need a sacrifice to forgive sin in the first place.
Bell's problem is that he doesn't care what the word of God says. It's easy to see. Almost every verse he uses in his book is taken out of context and made to say something God never intended the verse to say. If you'd like to read a review that shows Bells errors and the deception behind his work, visit... Hells Bell Dot..... Net
christians spend so much time being petty and argumentative. pulling each other apart. great as it is to question everything and to correct in love. i think Rob bell is raising valid questions, that have to have crossed every thinking person's mind. God can handle our questions. lay before Him what is in out hearts, not what ought to be in our hearts.
rob bell did not deny the gospel, he posed a question based on a subtle message that many have adopted through church and tradtion. love wins!
Your first point about Ghandi - you have no problem. All good. Second point about asking questions - nothing wrong with asking questions. Just on Ghandi - you don't know what was on Ghandi's mind when he died. Someone in the crowd may have told him about Jesus, and perhaps he repented 10 seconds before he died. How do you know?
Third point - how do you know? Rob is asking the question from a standpoint of someone who literally has no idea. He's not questioning Jesus.
@jaydenlawson Third point - what is God like. Noooo no no no you're taking what he's saying aaalll wrong!! Rob is talking from the point of view of many many people. Goodness me.... he's not denying the Gospel?! What the heck - where did that come from?! That's absurd that you could say he's denying the Gospel by that section of the video when he asks about what is God like. Wow.
The Lake of fire is surely another 'symbol' being used to convey an idea. E.g 'the chain' that binds the devil is another one. Is the chain a literal chain or does it represent 'restraint'? Is the fire 'literal' or does it represent destruction ie being burned up and no longer existing?
Very great video....dont forget 2 Peter 2:3-4: By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does[a] not slumber.
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
Christians are so divided. Read Mark chapter 9 from verse 39. You spend so much time and effort toattack and expose each other that you yourself end up doing more harm than good. No wonder so many people don't want to be christians.
Christians are so divided. Read Mark chapter 9 from verse 39. You spend so much time and effort to expose each other down that you yourself end up doing more harm than good. No wonder so many people don't want to be christians.
Ok Question for a Christian I use to be a Christian Pentecostal I have this question? If you where born in Pakistan where predominantly is Muslim you born and died a Islamic and you die where you going? Be open minded and give your opinion am not trying to start a fight or argument Thanks
@Shadowizz I believe many muslims and hindus etc will be going ahead into the Kingdom than some so called 'christians'. Jesus said, 'Father forgive them for they know not what they do'. Now, if Jesus forgives people for killing him because of their ignorance, then I'm sure He won't hold it against someone for being born into the wrong 'time' and 'religion'.
I happen to follow your belief. I do want to remind you that we are supposed to respond to other in love and not in belittlement. Also, if you are going to use his video as a source or subject, please use the whole video and don't leave out ANY part. Not even one word! Both of these greatly deminish your credibility.
I do not believe I left any out..I have posted up part 2 with the other part of his video, if you mean that. Otherwise, please correct me if I am wrong
Bell is looking at the bigger picture. the Bible says the gates of heaven will never close. That all people will one day experience this. Hell is a grave. Know the history of the word. also, bell has repreatedly said he is NOT a universalist. Didn't Jesus ask questions? infact, didn't he answer questions with questions?
Would you agree that Jesus answered questions with questions for a specific purpose? He usually asked them to get a specific answer. Rob Bell does this too. What we need to asses is not necessarily the method but rather the intention of his method. What is Rob Bell trying to make us think about? Is it biblical and God glorifying? Rob Bell may deny he is a universalist but he very much holds to universalist way of thinking.
I have been studying the original text in the Bible for years aside from church influence and have come to the same points as Rob Bell before knowing about him. I am a historian and can also see many churches today follow erroneous medieval interpretations rather than the original church orthodoxy. I am ready to stand for truth and so are many. And the truth shall set you free. In love.
This what almost every heretical church in America wants
1. Lots and lots of money
2. A message that lifts themselves up and lowers Chirst
3. No hearing of sin
4. no consequence for sin
5. more ways to God than just through Christ
and thats what Rob Bells book promotes. You want to follow a false teaching? You want to be lead astray from God? Then follow this fool Rob Bell. For he will surely lead you onto a path of darkness. You know what your talking about Jammy, good job exploiting Rob Bell!!
This is sad because you are WAY OFF! Rob Bell is only trying to make people think. Thats why he's asking those questions in the video. Maybe your judgmental attitude is sinful. Ever think of that? He's not a heresy. Nor is he as bad as you want to make him out to be. He's Helped bring Many to Christ. He's helped me in my walk with God. That's for sure.
What is truly sad is that you are so caught up with sending people to hell that you have missed entirely why Jesus came. So be it. You judge and then rest of us will show Jesus' love. In other words, you be the Pharisee and the rest of us will answer Christ's call as his disciples.
@raider3032 again raider you are foolish in your thinking and idiotic in your beliefs. You are truly the sad one and you have my pity. But it I must stop you and tell you WE ARE NOT WANTING TO SEND PEOPLE TO HELL!! God says that He is the one who does that, He and Jesus Christ are the ones who send people to hell not us! So it is not right for you to accuse us as humans to send people to hell and are missing the reason why Christ came. you call your self a disciple? What you truly are is a fool.
@MrDaBlooper you and I worship different God's. Your god is petty, judgemental, two faced, and limited in his power... and I can only assume made in your image. My God is All Powerful, my God is a God of love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, and grace. I am made in my God's image not the other way around.
I truly wish that you could meet my God, the God whom Jesus called Our Fahter in Heaven, so that you wouldn't have to worry yourself about who was or wasn't going to hell. Let God be God.
@raider3032 Friend you said it perfectly. We worship completely different Gods, I worship the God of the Bible, I'm not sure which little g god you claim to worship but it seems to be some hybrid-modern day-please fit my feelings and sensibilites-god. Your concept of God is completely skewed in accordance with scripture. Do you come to your beliefs simply through feelings and what other so-called Christians spew out of their mouth. Because there is no way it's from scripture study.
@jbama21 You know what.... I'm okay with that. It seems that a lot of people limit God in that they believe that the Bible can contain God. In other words, the Bible doesn't just point to God but it puts God in a box and says, "This is God." I find that a lot of people don't realize it, but they don't even worship God, they worship the Bible. So be it. God reveals Himself to us all in the Bible, but God is not limited to the Bible. God is still speaking and we need to seek him in all things.
@raider3032 God makes it very clear through his word that broad is the way to destruction but narrow is the gate to life (Christ Jesus). So how you respond determines if Christ Jesus welcomes you to the Wedding Feast as in the Parable of the King and Wedding Banquet (Matt 22:2-14; Lk 14:16-24) or whether he says depart from me. Please abandon your own ideas and opinions of what God should be like and read the Living Word for your sake brother.
@raider3032 The question is then, when faced with everything that we know how do you respond? Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but through me” He also said in Matthew 7 “On judgment day many will say “Lord, Lord We prophesied in your name and cast out demons and performed miracles” But I will reply I never knew you. Get away from me you who break God’s laws.”
@raider3032 New Testament scholars all agree that Christ came and lived around 5 BC to 30AD. That he traveled through the Middle East performing miracles and preaching that he was the Messiah. 75 % of scholars accept the historicity of the empty tomb and almost all scholars agrees upon the post-mortem appearances of Jesus to his women followers, his disciples, Paul, and over 500 gathered together in Galilea found in Matthew 28 and Mark 16.
@raider3032 The Bible does not put God in a box, the Bible reveals God to us. The Bible is 66 love letters from the Creator to his creation. Don't you realize that God want's you in a relationship with him as we were created to be and the only way for that to happen is to be justified and purified by the redemptive act of Christ Jesus death on the and resurrection.
@jbama21 If God truly wants us in a relationship then how can eternal hell be an option? Don't you see how the idea of hell limits God's power? The concept is that God gives us this lifetime to decide if we trust in Him. You lose your child to leukemia your brother dies in a fire your parents die in a car crash. Look around: war, hunger, destruction. Trust is not always easy but Hell says that God is cutting us off. We couldn't trust so God will make us suffer for eternity. Really?
@raider3032 There are only two possibilities if you believe Jesus friend, and I do because if I didn’t why believe anything he said. Anyway, one: the unrepentant’s punishment is total destruction in Gahenna. Two: the unrepentant are separated forever from God in Gahenna.
@raider3032 “Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death” Verse 8 “And cowards, unbelievers, corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Paul also tells us in his letter to Thessalonica “they will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.”
@raider3032 To understand the punishment for the unrepentant Jesus speaks of we have to study revelation. Beginning in Revelation 2, Christ Jesus says “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the Churches. Whoever overcomes will not be harmed by the second death”. So what is the second death? Revelation 20:13 “The sea gave up its dead and death and hades gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.”
@raider3032 Over and over Jesus speaks of Judgment Day and Gahenna. (Mat 5:22, 29,20, Mat 10:28, Mat 16:18, 18:9, 23:15, 23:33, Mark 9:43,47,48, ) Several times Jesus speaks of the abode of the dead or Hades in the Greek and Sheol in Hebrew. Mat 11:23, Luke 10:15, and the most well known the story of Lazarus in Luke 16:22. In Mat 25 Jesus said "when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me, and they will go away into eternal punishement"
@raider3032 Friend, I have never said anything about eternal hell, that's what you mentioned. You need to find the TRUTH by reading and studying the scriptures, God's Living Word, the means to how we are saved ("faith by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God) The Word allows two possibilities for Gahenna as Jesus said.
Awesome analysis Jammy. I read the book and he is a humanist. He doesn't ask questions to make you think but to make you doubt. He is all intellect but no Holy Spirit. He says in the book a lady at his church has been cutting herself for years so trying explaining to her unconditional love. We don't "explain" it, it is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit which obviously doesn't happen there. He creates straw men as well. You did a great job here.
I'm only 4+ minutes in and I can't keep watching this. You're condescending, sarcastic tone shows me a lot about your heat condition my friend. Stop worrying about who is and isn't going to spend eternity away from God and worry about conforming your life to Christ. Love God and love your neighbor for all other commandments and the law of the prophets hinge on these first two commandments. I hear no love, no grace, no compassion in your video bro. Hmm...
I found your comment to be a little rude. Maybe you should have watched the other 6 minutes before casting such a false judgment. You do not know his heart. I can assure you that this whole video is coming from a place of love, grace and compassion.
@wazzmine I'm sorry you felt that way. The only false judgement casted was from this guy. I'm sick and tired of conservative evangelicals and their pompous judgemental attitudes. It's time for Christians who interpret the Bible from the standpoint of love and grace to stand up and speak out against this nonsense. They are making a mockery of the Lord and breeding a Christian culture of hatred.
I see what you're saying about love and Grace and I somewhat agree with you. As Christians we need to approach things from a point of love and grace, but part of love is pointing out hard truths and false teachers who in their teachings misguide Christians! This video is doing just that; exposing a dangerous teaching by Rob Bell that could be leading many Christians down a bad path. It was done out of love for those who listen to his teachings.
@wazzmine I agree that that there are foundational truths of the gospel message that should be defended and are not open to interpretation. And although I don't necessarily agree with everything Rob had to say in the book I think the reference point from where Rob gleans his overall message is from love, grace and inclusion. He doesn't seek to create "in groups" and "out groups" that has been so central to the message of the modern church. The "dangers of hell" that Christ spoke about were
@wazzmine always directed at the religous people. Christ had far more harsher words to say towards those who were trying to keep people out of Heaven due to their religious piety than to those "outside of the church." I think Rob's heart is in a more correct place than the general message that has been relayed has been.
@wazzmine I think the modern evangelical gospel has been far too quick to play the "heretic" card and denouncing other interpretations that are different from theirs. Let's remember those who were also called heretics at points in church history including Martin Luther and Christ Himself. At one point if you were a Christian and believed the world was round you were branded a heretic and burned at the stake...
@emerysdaddy9107 I find it interesting that you think that THE fundamental belief of Christianity is open for interpretation. Rob Bell is questioning the core values of the gospel. That being that you must believe in Christ BEFORE you die. There is no purgatory or place where the soul stays. You either go to Heaven or Hell, there is no gray area. Once you die your soul goes to one of these two places forever. The fact that Rob Bell says you get another chance after death is horrific...
@emerysdaddy9107 (Continued) Sure a "second chance" seems logical, but in the way he's speaking it is contradictory to scripture. Every human being on earth (including remote tribes in Africa) has had a more than fair chance on earth to accept the gospel. Even if they have never heard the actual teaching, they know in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. To say that God is not being fair and only giving one chance, is not true! God has given us more than enough time to accept Him...
@emerysdaddy9107 (Continued) I'm not saying that Rob Bell is a heretic, I'm saying that he is horribly confused. The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy and warned him to watch out for false teaching. Paul said that in the end times people will look for what they want to hear, & this teaching is just that. This "Love Wins" stuff is really getting on my nerves. Why should we worry about offending people? The Gospel is not a feel good message! It is meant to convict people! Not be politically correct!
@116cliquefanatic I find it interesting that love and grace have to be defended to "Christians," the very people Christ left in charge of conveying. You're so caught up in preaching a gospel that seeks to send people to hell that you've missed the point of why Christ had to die on the cross entirely. You're using Christ as an executionist, Rob, myself and others view Him as an agent of grace, love and forgiveness. THE agent in fact. It's truly sad and maddening to be a witness to your
@116cliquefanatic interpretation of the gospel message. Your complete ignorant comment about remote tribes in Africa not ever hearing Jesus' name speak to this. How can one be held accountable to knowledge that was not given to them? Wow, you disgust me dude. Your pharisaical outlook is exactly what Christ denounced! And the sicker thing is, you don't even see it. Absolute garbage being spewed by you. I sincerely hope Christ gets a hold of your heart my friend.
@emerysdaddy9107 If you think I want to send people to hell, then you are completely confused! Who would want to send people to hell? Nobody! Not even God, but since people rejected the truth that He gave to them, He will reject them also. I would never want anyone to go to hell, not even Hitler. But the fact is that he denied Christ and his message in his time on earth, and he is in hell. I am saddened by this fact, but it is not my fault. It's not anybody's fault, except the person that...
@emerysdaddy9107 Rejected the salvation message, and turned to worldly ways. I was taken aback at the aggressive response to my comment. First off, God will judge those who knew the law given through Moses, according to this law. So those who knew this law will be judged more strictly. However, those who have never heard this message, will still be judged. These people will be judged according to the law placed in their heart by God. Those who obey this law, will be saved...
@emerysdaddy9107 according to this. All of this is summed up by Paul in Romans 2:12-16. Even those who have not heard the law, have lived according to it. This proves that God's law is written on those individuals hearts. It is the Christian's responsibility to reach those who have never heard the gospel. This was given to us in the great commission. I hope you notice that I am not attacking Rob Bell. I'm simply watching my doctrine as we are to do. (1 Timothy 4:15-16)
@116cliquefanatic However you are absolutely right about the gospel being an offense. You are offended by it's true nature. You are in desperate need of a heart circumcision bro.
@emerysdaddy9107 Lastly. I myself am not saying I personally am offended by the gospel. I think it is a perfect, just, and loving message. However, it is offensive to those who have never heard it. That is NOT a bad thing. If someone is not offended they will not act! Stepping on eggshells never saved a soul! I don't mean to say, "Beat them with the Book." I'm saying don't avoid the offensiveness of the gospel message. Embrace it and save souls!
Then you go on to say that Rob is saying that Ghandi isn't in hell. He never says that, nor implies it. He siimply infers that God is the only one who knows that and where do we get off judging that? Are you God, am I? Last time I checked the answer is NO.
He affirms all over the book that Jesus is the way, the only way. What he differs on is HOW God will do that and in what time frame. The God Rob Bell serves and the One I serve is an inclusivist, not an exclusivist. The pharisees also had a problem with this kind of love and if you have read the Bible you know what Jesus had to say to them. Lay down your pride brother...
I'm only a minute in and you say, "i'm not gonna put any words into his mouth..." First off, you haven't read the book yet so you're already putting words into his mouth by that fact alone. Second, you say he "denies the gospel." Well I've read the book and I hope by this point you have also and nowhere in his book does he deny the gospel. His interpretation of the gospel is different than the modern fundamentalist interpretation that in many ways has completely missed the point.
We must remember to pray for our brother Rob Bell. Jesus saved us from God??? If Mr Bell is unable to understand this then how might he understand much of anything?
I didn't direct my remarks to "the issue at hand," and I stated as much. I directed them to the manner of delivery. I don't care if he disagrees with Rob Bell. I was asking, as an interested audience member, to be taken into account. I'm not guilty here of some ad hominem. Delivery doesn't, you're right, have anything to do with the substance. But it sure helps to stay interested. Anyone, I think, can agree with that.
A constructive bit of criticism about your rhetorical style: please don't read. It's boring and suggests a lack of confidence in what you're saying. Have a really good idea of what you're going to say and say it to the screen as you would to a real person.
@socrhet26 Facts are facts regardless. Here's a criticism or your criticism: stick to the issue at hand because when you don't it suggests you don't know what you're talking about; but we can see that anyway.
Of course there will be criticism of those who think more deeply than shallow baby food Evangelicals who have big righteous ego's (like the ancient Pharisees.)
@gtrjunky Study your history. Gandhi did not reject Christ at all. He studied Christ and has many known quotes that insinuate that he accepted and loved Christ. Also not being judgmental is definitely in God's word. Take the plank out of your own eye before you try to take the speck of dust out of your brother's eye. Also "you who have not sinned may cast the first stone." Do you guys take pleasure in condemning people like Rob? Not very Christ like, loving, or merciful.
Rob Bell is simply and bravely asking the very questions that keep many people away form God. He is not answering them. These are valid questions. He has not denied the Gospel in this video. Take the plank out of your own eye before you point out the speck of dust in your brother's eye. Faith in Christ and the Grace of God through the sacrifice of Christ are what redeems us. Beliefs and ideas about hell are not required for salvation.
Interesting video. I also have a video critiquing Bell's promo video for "Love Wins" called "The Bible Answers Rob Bell." I hope you guys can check it out.
@abergiecreation Rob Bell has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Do you? That is all you should be worrying about. Rob offers only questions in his video.. A subject that has been covered fully? Really...? You understand God completely?
Rob Bell doesn’t “know” Ghandi’s in hell? LOL!!! Bell lack of the clear teaching of Jesus is dangerous. How many has he mislead. I’m sure there is a nice millstone ready for him.
a facebook user just said "The fact that a representative of Union Theological Seminary approves Bell's book is practically Satan's own seal of approval."
So be it if he desires to do this with secondary issues, but not the gospel of our Lord. He is one of the ravounous wolves written in scripture, who's "...condemnation is marked out from long ago..." (Jude 1:4). Please people, research some of his other stuff, I assure you that my claims are true
This man has had his chance, I have watched many of his video's, and it's through questions that he get's minds working in order to denounce certain truth in the Christian faith. I will be reading the book also, but from the summery of quotes, publishes descriptions, this video, all other video's he has made, and trusted opinions of biblical Christians, the conclusion has been made, and this man is questioning things he shouldn't.
@JammyMower Is there really things "we shouldnt question?" as Christians isnt questioning good? In God's infinite vastness we should be constantly be questioning and searching. The greatest figures of the Bible where very much questioning people
@JammyMower You have not witnessed Judgement Day, and we are all completely unaware of how God works. The seven days it took for God to create what we know could have very well been 7,000 years or 7 miliseconds. So, after death on Earth, how do you suppose our soul is processed? Immediately? Perhaps Gandhi in the last few seconds of his life accepted the Lord as his Savior. There is no way of you knowing. Walk by faith and not by sight. You can't wrap your head around God.
@hodyo Anyone who has studied the heretical teachings of Rob Bell knows what is going to be in this book. The truth is, Gandhi was a practicing hindu who rejected the gospel and Christ. So, if that's the condition he died in then he is in Hell forever just as God has revealed.
No one is good enough for God's standard of perfection - including myself. I deserve to burn in hell like the rest of the human race. Salvation is only through the blood of Jesus Christ - He lived the perfect life we could never live, willing laid down His life taking on the punishment of those who would trust in Him, and rose again from the dead to make them perfect before God. We must turn from our evil and trust in Jesus Christ to be saved. There is no other way. The question is - have you?
How on earth can you say you agree with these guys.. You haven't read the book.. Rob Bell doesn't state in the video promo that he thinks everyone will be in heaven, he simply asks a question.. He's famous for asking questions.. I say, if you agree with piper, you are a blind sheep..
I I think we need to wait and read what the book actually says cause I think he Rob Bell isn't saying what HE believes just what others do like "different people say there's different ways to heaven. Which is right?" he's not saying that Jesus is saving us from God but that some people get that get that Ida and what nothing to do with Christianity and so he's gonna clear some things up. Let's just wait.....
its sad that you have put so much effort into trying to read into a clip clearly made to make people curious of a product. in this case it's Rob Bell's Book.
it would be interesting to see your view after going through the product and not just the add. remember this is made to make ALL people interested.. and sadly things may be simple in your mind but not others.
I am not Rob Bell's #1 fan but do like some of his stuff. i would be curious to hear thoughts on the actual product
Provocation as a teaching tool often makes reading into assumptions very easy to do. It also helps sell books and grab attention. :) Hopefully, in doing so, it will help us all to think deeper and act on the important matters of faith (without necessarily having to agree on everything).
it's worse than that though, it's not just a 'disagreement', he is under the curse of God as galatians 1 says, because he denies the gospel. He is also a false teacher, and is deceiving a multitude of people.
@gtrjunky Well well, look who's following me around now? As if I hadn't wasted my time with you enough already. Once again, that's quite a claim you're making especially having not even known me.
@gratedrawur I'm hardly "following" you. Brother Jammy here is one my bro's and I comment here to support him against the attacks of the biblically ignorant Bellites.
Some final words before I exit(because, believe me, I'll be avoiding you as much as possible for some time):
-I admire your ferventness in what you do, as well as your clearly well-refined, brick wall of faith which isn't easily shaken by doubt or second-guesses.
-However, you are highly judgmental, and I find your attitude towards anonymous internet users highly unwelcoming. If I weren't already a believer, I would not be led to Christ from your example.
@gratedrawur Yes well I don't know who decided that being judgmental was wrong but it sure wasn't from God's word. Also, you wouldn't led away from Christ either. It is He who draws men, saves men and kepps them.
Just a little bit of education for you, the word in Hebrew for peace is the word Shalom and it has nothing to do with the absence of conflict it is about the presence of wholeness, I sort of laugh to myself that you think that wasting your time making this video is actually worth something in the universe, your just complaining about someone you disagree with... Just don't listen to him, end of story... Peace haha sorry couldn't help saying that!!!
@dohboy3000 Yea, most of Bell's followers can't help but say stupid things. This video is pretty valuable because Jammy has it up in other places and those who know what sound doctrine is appreciate it and have benefitted from it.
I have to say that Rob Bell's followers are some of the most illogical, fallacious, biblically illiterate people around. A cursory look at their stupid comment will reveal this.
@jdefrees1 On the contrary, my ASSESSMENT is accurate and true. Only a biblically illiterate person would be subject to the obviously bad teaching of Bell.
@jdefrees1 You see, the bible doesn't tell us not to judge (period) it tells us not to judge hypocritically which is what you are doing. The bible tells us to judge with RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT.
My suggestion: Read your bible and not just the parts you like, but the WHOLE THING.
Just so you know, I am not critiquing a book he has not yet released, because I have not read it. Rather, his video is quite clear on what he believes, that he is a universalism, and even more explicit, He denied the gospel, which puts him into the galatians 1 category.
Please wait for part two, it has the rest of his video.
@JammyMower Actually, no. He is not clear on what he believes in the video, where do you get that? It is an introduction to his book, nothing else. You are assuming far too much from what you have received of a 3 minute video. Rob Bell never said he does not believe in Hell. He simply asks questions that I assure you his book will attempt to answer. But these are just theories, things to be questioned.. Read Velvet Elvis and you will hopefully understand his way of thinking better. God bless.
correct! its Romans 6:23! but Romans 3:23-24 is just as amazing.... "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came through Christ Jesus. "
God is all about love.....we do not need to be saved us from Him.....that is obsured! God, The Father and the Holy Spirit are one....God sent His son Jesus to save us.....I just dont understand! Jesus sacrificed everything so that we could be saved!! God is love!
look people.....Romans 3:23 states"For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is everlasting life." and John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave is one and only son that who so ever belives in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his son into the world to condem the world but to save the world thru Him."
I think Rob Bell is an excellent speaker communicator. His trailer is captivating. Yes he is trying to sell his book and spread his message. I will wait until the book is released and have read it before I jump to conclusions. If he is speaking anti Biblical themes and principles then I will not endorse his book or teaching on this subject. I can't judge his teaching yet until I read it. Maybe just maybe he will surprise us with good teaching. Hope he doesn't disappoint us.
@gtrjunky Good point I should follow my own advise. But I'm not casting judgement, I'm just making a lovingly observation. It is not wise to attack a person or person's character that you do not know. Especially from a 3 min. promo videos. Rob Bell has never denied the gospel or taught universalism. If he does in the book then I'll stop listening to him and going to MHBC.
My suggestion; spend less time criticizing people's comments and more time following your works righteousness.
@jdefrees1 Actually you are casting judgement, you're just playing word games (like Rob Bell does) and trying to redefine what you're doing to justify yourself. You are a first class hypocrite.
Now incase I have discerned wrongly I will wait for the video release (he normally does videos/ no time for books other than bible), but that is where I believe Rob bell is headed.
IT CHGALLENGES HOW WE VIEW GOD, JESUS, HEAVEN HELL
If the greatest commandment is to love God and others, and if we are to imitate God, then I am guessing it is the highest thing on his prioirty list too.
What he is saying is something like this. There is Heaven (Gods Kingdom) and Hell (satans domain/punishment). God sent His son to rescue us from Hell, God did not make Hell for man, it was made for the devil.
See with the measure you use so it is measured back to us.
If we as a people were to start loving the lost (as a Father might miss his prodigal son) into the Kingdom, then you would get to KNOW Him as ABBA FATHER.
Wow I am kinda concerned (na not really because Jesus will have His way). People should be able to discern where Rob Bell is going with this. He is not saying that you don't need to believe in Jesus to get to Heaven, he is challenging how we view Heaven, Hell, Jesus and God. Jesus doesnt rescue us from an angry God that wants to send us to hell
im not sure about the rules of posting in YouTube. apparently it doesnt do links? I had no idea, but those two blogs are well written and i think would help you with your perspective, just take out all the spaces and theyll work. one is from Michael Gungor. the other is a book seller who has an advanced copy of the book has read it and they quote sections to explain the misconception. this is why i speak so boldly. ive read what it is he's saying. Hes not a universalist. Just a good Teacher
I'll stop it here for now as its 4am where i am from. I think the most important thing to note at this point is that i have sent you these messages in a spirit of love and correction. I hope that you will read and pray through them. Know that i mean no offense.
Regardless of your specific feelings on Rob Bell or his teachings, I can tell you he is a gifted communicator, passionate about outreach and someone with an extremely broad theology. Before you condemn his work, as his Christian brother, it becomes your duty to study it. Pointing out errors is absolutely fine, but doing so in ignorance is harmful to the body of Christ and to your own validity as a public speaker. do more research, listen to the facts, read his work, you'll see how love wins.
To clarify this is not universalism. This is not saying that all paths are paths to justification. What it is saying is that God is not mean. He gives us the freedom to choose our own path, the path that we choose could lead us up or down. the majority of people are walking the downward spiral. Jesus steps in and enables us by reaching out to us and dying for us so that all we need to do is live for Him accepting Him as Lord and we are rescued from ourselves. the hell that we are creating
God does not sentence us to hell and we do not need to be rescued from God. Hell is a consequence of our own choices we put ourselves in that place. Jesus reaches out to us to bring us out of that place. Its not about Him condemning us and Jesus fighting God on our behalf. Its about God giving us a choice and Jesus helping us make the right one. Your views on heaven and hell are very legalistic and the problem with that is it denies the character of the Trinity. God is love. Love wins.
I think its unfortunate that you completely misunderstood everything that Rob Bell said. I think its worse that you are publicly flaming him based on your opinions of what you think he might end up saying in a book that not only have you not read, but hasnt even been released. You are making inferences based on nothing and its honestly sad. Galations 6:1 tells us that as your Christian brother I need to restore you in this case. Your thesis is inappropriate at worst and premature at best...

Jamey, around 7:00, you didn't actually interact at all with with what Bell was saying - he doesn't need you to say "It's good news because Christ was crushed for our sins in our place" because what's he's questioning is the philosophical framework that requires God to need a sacrifice to forgive sin in the first place.
anestixristos777 5 months ago
Bell's problem is that he doesn't care what the word of God says. It's easy to see. Almost every verse he uses in his book is taken out of context and made to say something God never intended the verse to say. christians spend so much time being petty and argumentative. pulling each other apart. great as it is to question everything and to correct in love. i think Rob bell is raising valid questions, that have to have crossed every thinking person's mind. God can handle our questions. lay before Him what is in out hearts, not what ought to be in our hearts.
rob bell did not deny the gospel, he posed a question based on a subtle message that many have adopted through church and tradtion. love wins!
EEEflipper 7 months ago
Your first point about Ghandi - you have no problem. All good. Second point about asking questions - nothing wrong with asking questions. Just on Ghandi - you don't know what was on Ghandi's mind when he died. Someone in the crowd may have told him about Jesus, and perhaps he repented 10 seconds before he died. How do you know?
Third point - how do you know? Rob is asking the question from a standpoint of someone who literally has no idea. He's not questioning Jesus.
jaydenlawson 8 months ago

Shadowizz 10 months ago
@Shadowizz I believe many muslims and hindus etc will be going ahead into the Kingdom than some so called 'christians'. Jesus said, 'Father forgive them for they know not what they do'. Now, if Jesus forgives people for killing him because of their ignorance, then I'm sure He won't hold it against someone for being born into the wrong 'time' and 'religion'.

Bell is looking at the bigger picture. the Bible says the gates of heaven will never close. That all people will one day experience this. Hell is a grave. Know the history of the word. also, bell has repreatedly said he is NOT a universalist. Didn't Jesus ask questions? infact, didn't he answer questions with questions?
mtnbike88 10 months ago
@mtnbike88
What is your definition of "the bigger picture"?

I have been studying the original text in the Bible for years aside from church influence and have come to the same points as Rob Bell before knowing about him. I am a historian and can also see many churches today follow erroneous medieval interpretations rather than the original church orthodoxy. I am ready to stand for truth and so are many. And the truth shall set you free. In love.

First off Mr. Right, comb your hair. You're shaming the gospel.

MarlaAMaddox 11 months ago
What is truly sad is that you are so caught up with sending people to hell that you have missed entirely why Jesus came. So be it. You judge and then rest of us will show Jesus' love. In other words, you be the Pharisee and the rest of us will answer Christ's call as his disciples.
raider3032 11 months ago
@raider3032 again raider you are foolish in your thinking and idiotic in your beliefs. You are truly the sad one and you have my pity. But it I must stop you and tell you WE ARE NOT WANTING TO SEND PEOPLE TO HELL!! God says that He is the one who does that, He and Jesus Christ are the ones who send people to hell not us! So it is not right for you to accuse us as humans to send people to hell and are missing the reason why Christ came. you call your self a disciple? What you truly are is a fool.
MrDaBlooper 11 months ago
@MrDaBlooper you and I worship different God's. Your god is petty, judgemental, two faced, and limited in his power... and I can only assume made in your image. My God is All Powerful, my God is a God of love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, and grace. I am made in my God's image not the other way around.
I truly wish that you could meet my God, the God whom Jesus called Our Fahter in Heaven, so that you wouldn't have to worry yourself about who was or wasn't going to hell. Let God be God.
raider3032 11 months ago
@raider3032 Friend you said it perfectly. We worship completely different Gods, I worship the God of the Bible, I'm not sure which little g god you claim to worship but it seems to be some hybrid-modern day-please fit my feelings and sensibilites-god. Your concept of God is completely skewed in accordance with scripture. Do you come to your beliefs simply through feelings and what other so-called Christians spew out of their mouth. Because there is no way it's from scripture study.
jbama21 10 months ago
@jbama21 You know what.... I'm okay with that. It seems that a lot of people limit God in that they believe that the Bible can contain God. In other words, the Bible doesn't just point to God but it puts God in a box and says, "This is God." I find that a lot of people don't realize it, but they don't even worship God, they worship the Bible. So be it. God reveals Himself to us all in the Bible, but God is not limited to the Bible. God is still speaking and we need to seek him in all things.
raider3032 10 months ago
@raider3032 God makes it very clear through his word that broad is the way to destruction but narrow is the gate to life (Christ Jesus). So how you respond determines if Christ Jesus welcomes you to the Wedding Feast as in the Parable of the King and Wedding Banquet (Matt 22:2-14; Lk 14:16-24) or whether he says depart from me. Please abandon your own ideas and opinions of what God should be like and read the Living Word for your sake brother.
God Bless.
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 The question is then, when faced with everything that we know how do you respond? Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but through me” He also said in Matthew 7 “On judgment day many will say “Lord, Lord We prophesied in your name and cast out demons and performed miracles” But I will reply I never knew you. Get away from me you who break God’s laws.”
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 New Testament scholars all agree that Christ came and lived around 5 BC to 30AD. That he traveled through the Middle East performing miracles and preaching that he was the Messiah. 75 % of scholars accept the historicity of the empty tomb and almost all scholars agrees upon the post-mortem appearances of Jesus to his women followers, his disciples, Paul, and over 500 gathered together in Galilea found in Matthew 28 and Mark 16.
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 The Bible does not put God in a box, the Bible reveals God to us. The Bible is 66 love letters from the Creator to his creation. Don't you realize that God want's you in a relationship with him as we were created to be and the only way for that to happen is to be justified and purified by the redemptive act of Christ Jesus death on the and resurrection.
jbama21 10 months ago
@jbama21 If God truly wants us in a relationship then how can eternal hell be an option? Don't you see how the idea of hell limits God's power? The concept is that God gives us this lifetime to decide if we trust in Him. You lose your child to leukemia your brother dies in a fire your parents die in a car crash. Look around: war, hunger, destruction. Trust is not always easy but Hell says that God is cutting us off. We couldn't trust so God will make us suffer for eternity. Really?
raider3032 10 months ago
@raider3032 There are only two possibilities if you believe Jesus friend, and I do because if I didn’t why believe anything he said. Anyway, one: the unrepentant’s punishment is total destruction in Gahenna. Two: the unrepentant are separated forever from God in Gahenna.
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 “Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death” Verse 8 “And cowards, unbelievers, corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Paul also tells us in his letter to Thessalonica “they will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.”
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 To understand the punishment for the unrepentant Jesus speaks of we have to study revelation. Beginning in Revelation 2, Christ Jesus says “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the Churches. Whoever overcomes will not be harmed by the second death”. So what is the second death? Revelation 20:13 “The sea gave up its dead and death and hades gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.”
jbama21 10 months ago
@raider3032 Over and over Jesus speaks of Judgment Day and Gahenna. (Mat 5:22, 29,20, Mat 10:28, Mat 16:18, 18:9, 23:15, 23:33, Mark 9:43,47,48, ) Several times Jesus speaks of the abode of the dead or Hades in the Greek and Sheol in Hebrew. Mat 11:23, Luke 10:15, and the most well known the story of Lazarus in Luke 16:22. In Mat 25 Jesus said "when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me, and they will go away into eternal punishement"
jbama21 10 months ago

You did a great job here.

emerysdaddy9107 11 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107
I found your comment to be a little rude. Maybe you should have watched the other 6 minutes before casting such a false judgment. You do not know his heart. I can assure you that this whole video is coming from a place of love, grace and compassion.
wazzmine 10 months ago
@wazzmine I'm sorry you felt that way. The only false judgement casted was from this guy. I'm sick and tired of conservative evangelicals and their pompous judgemental attitudes. It's time for Christians who interpret the Bible from the standpoint of love and grace to stand up and speak out against this nonsense. They are making a mockery of the Lord and breeding a Christian culture of hatred.
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107
It was done out of love for those who listen to his teachings.
wazzmine 10 months ago
@wazzmine I agree that that there are foundational truths of the gospel message that should be defended and are not open to interpretation. And although I don't necessarily agree with everything Rob had to say in the book I think the reference point from where Rob gleans his overall message is from love, grace and inclusion. He doesn't seek to create "in groups" and "out groups" that has been so central to the message of the modern church. The "dangers of hell" that Christ spoke about were
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@wazzmine always directed at the religous people. Christ had far more harsher words to say towards those who were trying to keep people out of Heaven due to their religious piety than to those "outside of the church." I think Rob's heart is in a more correct place than the general message that has been relayed has been.
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@wazzmine I think the modern evangelical gospel has been far too quick to play the "heretic" card and denouncing other interpretations that are different from theirs. Let's remember those who were also called heretics at points in church history including Martin Luther and Christ Himself. At one point if you were a Christian and believed the world was round you were branded a heretic and burned at the stake...
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107 I find it interesting that you think that THE fundamental belief of Christianity is open for interpretation. Rob Bell is questioning the core values of the gospel. That being that you must believe in Christ BEFORE you die. There is no purgatory or place where the soul stays. You either go to Heaven or Hell, there is no gray area. Once you die your soul goes to one of these two places forever. The fact that Rob Bell says you get another chance after death is horrific...
116cliquefanatic 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107 (Continued) Sure a "second chance" seems logical, but in the way he's speaking it is contradictory to scripture. Every human being on earth (including remote tribes in Africa) has had a more than fair chance on earth to accept the gospel. Even if they have never heard the actual teaching, they know in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. To say that God is not being fair and only giving one chance, is not true! God has given us more than enough time to accept Him...
116cliquefanatic 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107 (Continued) I'm not saying that Rob Bell is a heretic, I'm saying that he is horribly confused. The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy and warned him to watch out for false teaching. Paul said that in the end times people will look for what they want to hear, & this teaching is just that. This "Love Wins" stuff is really getting on my nerves. Why should we worry about offending people? The Gospel is not a feel good message! It is meant to convict people! Not be politically correct!
116cliquefanatic 10 months ago
@116cliquefanatic I find it interesting that love and grace have to be defended to "Christians," the very people Christ left in charge of conveying. You're so caught up in preaching a gospel that seeks to send people to hell that you've missed the point of why Christ had to die on the cross entirely. You're using Christ as an executionist, Rob, myself and others view Him as an agent of grace, love and forgiveness. THE agent in fact. It's truly sad and maddening to be a witness to your
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@116cliquefanatic interpretation of the gospel message. Your complete ignorant comment about remote tribes in Africa not ever hearing Jesus' name speak to this. How can one be held accountable to knowledge that was not given to them? Wow, you disgust me dude. Your pharisaical outlook is exactly what Christ denounced!

116cliquefanatic 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107 according to this. All of this is summed up by Paul in Romans 2:12-16. Even those who have not heard the law, have lived according to it. This proves that God's law is written on those individuals hearts. It is the Christian's responsibility to reach those who have never heard the gospel. This was given to us in the great commission. I hope you notice that I am not attacking Rob Bell. I'm simply watching my doctrine as we are to do. (1 Timothy 4:15-16)
116cliquefanatic 10 months ago
@116cliquefanatic However you are absolutely right about the gospel being an offense. You are offended by it's true nature. You are in desperate need of a heart circumcision bro.
emerysdaddy9107 10 months ago
@emerysdaddy9107 Lastly. I myself am not saying I personally am offended by the gospel. I think it is a perfect, just, and loving message. However, it is offensive to those who have never heard it. That is NOT a bad thing. If someone is not offended they will not act! Stepping on eggshells never saved a soul! I don't mean to say, "Beat them with the Book." I'm saying don't avoid the offensiveness of the gospel message. Embrace it and save souls!

He affirms all over the book that Jesus is the way, the only way. What he differs on is HOW God will do that and in what time frame. emerysdaddy9107 11 months ago
I'm only a minute in and you say, "i'm not gonna put any words into his mouth..." First off, you haven't read the book yet so you're already putting words into his mouth by that fact alone. His interpretation of the gospel is different than the modern fundamentalist interpretation that in many ways has completely missed the point.

JammyMower 11 months ago
This man has had his chance, I have watched many of his video's, and it's through questions that he get's minds working in order to denounce certain truth in the Christian faith. I will be reading the book also, but from the summery of quotes, publishes descriptions, this video, all other video's he has made, and trusted opinions of biblical Christians, the conclusion has been made, and this man is questioning things he shouldn't.
JammyMower 11 months ago
@JammyMower Is there really things "we shouldnt question?" as Christians isnt questioning good? In God's infinite vastness we should be constantly be questioning and searching. The greatest figures of the Bible where very much questioning people
robtol1 11 months ago
@JammyMower You have not witnessed Judgement Day, and we are all completely unaware of how God works. The seven days it took for God to create what we know could have very well been 7,000 years or 7 miliseconds. So, after death on Earth, how do you suppose our soul is processed? Immediately? Perhaps Gandhi in the last few seconds of his life accepted the Lord as his Savior. There is no way of you knowing. Walk by faith and not by sight. You can't wrap your head around God.

EVERYTHING should be questioned. Only falsehood needs to be protected; truth can always withstand scrutiny.

Hey Jamey -- Brendan Burnett here. Rob Bell's video "Love Wins" is absolute, 100% rubbish.
Brightstar27 11 months ago

Linzhuf 11 months ago

Let's just wait.....

some extra info with biblical references used as assumptions
God = Love (1 John 4:8)
God = Almighty (Revelation 1:8)
Almighty = Unbeatable
then the statement "Love Wins" is true when you translate it into "God Wins"

its sad that you have put so much effort into trying to read into a clip clearly made to make people curious of a product. in this case it's Rob Bell's Book.
it would be interesting to see your view after going through the product and not just the add. remember this is made to make ALL people interested.. and sadly things may be simple in your mind but not others.
I am not Rob Bell's #1 fan but do like some of his stuff. i would be curious to hear thoughts on the actual product
mavrickx9 1 year ago
Provocation as a teaching tool often makes reading into assumptions very easy to do. It also helps sell books and grab attention. :) Hopefully, in doing so, it will help us all to think deeper and act on the important matters of faith (without necessarily having to agree on everything).
Rangerdavie 1 year ago
it's worse than that though, it's not just a 'disagreement', he is under the curse of God as galatians 1 says, because he denies the gospel. He is also a false teacher, and is deceiving a multitude of people.

@gtrjunky Well well, look who's following me around now? As if I hadn't wasted my time with you enough already. Once again, that's quite a claim you're making especially having not even known me.
gratedrawur 1 year ago
@gratedrawur I'm hardly "following" you. Brother Jammy here is one my bro's and I comment here to support him against the attacks of the biblically ignorant Bellites.
gtrjunky 1 year ago
@gtrjunky Fair point. My mistake.
If I weren't already a believer, I would not be led to Christ from your example.
gratedrawur 1 year ago
@gratedrawur Yes well I don't know who decided that being judgmental was wrong but it sure wasn't from God's word. Also, you wouldn't led away from Christ either. It is He who draws men, saves men and kepps them.

Just a little bit of education for you, the word in Hebrew for peace is the word Shalom and it has nothing to do with the absence of conflict it is about the presence of wholeness, I sort of laugh to myself that you think that wasting your time making this video is actually worth something in the universe, your just complaining about someone you disagree with... Just don't listen to him, end of story... Peace haha sorry couldn't help saying that!!!
dohboy3000 1 year ago
@dohboy3000 Yea, most of Bell's followers can't help but say stupid things. This video is pretty valuable because Jammy has it up in other places and those who know what sound doctrine is appreciate it and have benefitted from it.

@gtrjunky Show us where in the bible that it states that all people go to heaven and none are cast to the fiery depths of hell.
smiffy24601 1 year ago
I have to say that Rob Bell's followers are some of the most illogical, fallacious, biblically illiterate people around. A cursory look at their stupid comment will reveal this.
gtrjunky 1 year ago
@gtrjunky Your logic is neither valid nor sound. You are attacking people's character (ad hominem) to try and prove a false point.
jdefrees1 1 year ago
@jdefrees1 On the contrary, my ASSESSMENT is accurate and true. Only a biblically illiterate person would be subject to the obviously bad teaching of Bell.
gtrjunky 1 year ago
@jdefrees1 You see, the bible doesn't tell us not to judge (period) it tells us not to judge hypocritically which is what you are doing. The bible tells us to judge with RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT.
My suggestion: Read your bible and not just the parts you like, but the WHOLE THING.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.
JammyMower 1 year ago
@JammyMower Actually, no. He is not clear on what he believes in the video, where do you get that? It is an introduction to his book, nothing else. You are assuming far too much from what you have received of a 3 minute video. Rob Bell never said he does not believe in Hell. He simply asks questions that I assure you his book will attempt to answer. But these are just theories, things to be questioned.. Read Velvet Elvis and you will hopefully understand his way of thinking better. God bless.
OhhHowheLovesus 11 months ago
@JammyMower He's not a universalist. Read it. I know you won't like it, but you will see he's not a universalist.

correct! its Romans 6:23! but Romans 3:23-24 is just as amazing....

One suggestion...less time criticizing and casting judgement upon people...more time following in the dust of the Rabbi.
jdefrees1 1 year ago
@jdefrees1 Perhaps you need to follow your own advice. But it's okay for you to cast judgement on this guy?
My suggestion for you is spend less time criticizing people's videos and more time following you works righteousness.
gtrjunky 1 year ago
@gtrjunky Good point I should follow my own advise. But I'm not casting judgement, I'm just making a lovingly observation. It is not wise to attack a person or person's character that you do not know. Especially from a 3 min. promo videos. Rob Bell has never denied the gospel or taught universalism. If he does in the book then I'll stop listening to him and going to MHBC.
My suggestion; spend less time criticizing people's comments and more time following your works righteousness.
jdefrees1 1 year ago
@jdefrees1 Actually you are casting judgement, you're just playing word games (like Rob Bell does) and trying to redefine what you're doing to justify yourself. You are a first class hypocrite.
gtrjunky 1 year ago
Now incase I have discerned wrongly I will wait for the video release (he normally does videos/ no time for books other than bible), but that is where I believe Rob bell is headed.
IT CHGALLENGES HOW WE VIEW GOD, JESUS, HEAVEN HELL
If the greatest commandment is to love God and others, and if we are to imitate God, then I am guessing it is the highest thing on his prioirty list too.
shanedegen 1 year ago
What he is saying is something like this. There is Heaven (Gods Kingdom) and Hell (satans domain/punishment). God sent His son to rescue us from Hell, God did not make Hell for man, it was made for the devil.
See with the measure you use so it is measured back to us.
If we as a people were to start loving the lost (as a Father might miss his prodigal son) into the Kingdom, then you would get to KNOW Him as ABBA FATHER.
He who haas ears to hear, let him hear
shanedegen 1 year ago
Wow I am kinda concerned (na not really because Jesus will have His way). People should be able to discern where Rob Bell is going with this. He is not saying that you don't need to believe in Jesus to get to Heaven, he is challenging how we view Heaven, Hell, Jesus and God. Jesus doesnt rescue us from an angry God that wants to send us to hell
shanedegen 1 year ago
im not sure about the rules of posting in YouTube. apparently it doesnt do links? I had no idea, but those two blogs are well written and i think would help you with your perspective, just take out all the spaces and theyll work. one is from Michael Gungor. the other is a book seller who has an advanced copy of the book has read it and they quote sections to explain the misconception. this is why i speak so boldly. ive read what it is he's saying. Hes not a universalist. Just a good Teacher

mikeyfof 1 year ago
Regardless of your specific feelings on Rob Bell or his teachings, I can tell you he is a gifted communicator, passionate about outreach and someone with an extremely broad theology. Before you condemn his work, as his Christian brother, it becomes your duty to study it. Pointing out errors is absolutely fine, but doing so in ignorance is harmful to the body of Christ and to your own validity as a public speaker. do more research, listen to the facts, read his work, you'll see how love wins.
mikeyfof 1 year ago
To clarify this is not universalism. This is not saying that all paths are paths to justification. What it is saying is that God is not mean. He gives us the freedom to choose our own path, the path that we choose could lead us up or down. the majority of people are walking the downward spiral. Jesus steps in and enables us by reaching out to us and dying for us so that all we need to do is live for Him accepting Him as Lord and we are rescued from ourselves. the hell that we are creating
mikeyfof 1 year ago
God does not sentence us to hell and we do not need to be rescued from God. Hell is a consequence of our own choices we put ourselves in that place. Jesus reaches out to us to bring us out of that place. Its not about Him condemning us and Jesus fighting God on our behalf. Its about God giving us a choice and Jesus helping us make the right one. Your views on heaven and hell are very legalistic and the problem with that is it denies the character of the Trinity. God is love. Love wins.
mikeyfof 1 year ago
I think its unfortunate that you completely misunderstood everything that Rob Bell said. I think its worse that you are publicly flaming him based on your opinions of what you think he might end up saying in a book that not only have you not read, but hasnt even been released. You are making inferences based on nothing and its honestly sad. Galations 6:1 tells us that as your Christian brother I need to restore you in this case. Your thesis is inappropriate at worst and premature at best...
