    Happy New Year Guitar Instructor

  • Guitar instructor , guitar lessons !!

Love this one man , almost as much as Cheap Trick: I Want You To Want Me

  • This one always reminds me of something Cheap trick might record , or mabe even Jerry Reed

  • Here is a song that's ALWAYS been considered a simple, three chord ditty, but I could NEVER get that intro to sound right.

    YOU nailed it, dude!!

  • what style neck is that, its just beautiful..

  • Had to learn this for work, you just saved me, my rewind finger and my ear some valuable time.. Well done and thanks.. Great quality and very well done video.. Cheers..

  • @piddy53 basically an A major bar chord. looks like this

first string low E 0 7 7 6 5 5 if thats not good enough let me know, ill give a better try at explaining it

  • Doug Boduch , Greg Koch, Marcus Henderson , John 5 , the list goes on and on !!

    Loving GuitarInstructor com

really enjoyed the Doug Boduch Guitar Lesson on Cheap Trick I want you To Want me !!

  • Nice work! But, the 3rd chord in (the A) is played at the 5th fret. It's the E form of the chord (but without playing the low E or A strings) and is spelled, Root-3rd-5th-octave starting from the 7th fret of the D string. I used to think like you that the D chord form with the 3rd in the root at the 9th fret was correct, until I saw the original video. I think you'll find this new voicing sounds the same as the way it was originally played by the Romantics.

  • GUITARINSTRUCTOR

You guys really do ROCK !

    Love the music videos

  • Actually, Mike Skill Recorded it with a Rickenbacker 360

  • Great clip! I wonder what amp he's playing through?

  • Great clip! I wonder what amp he's using?

  • Its cool and sounds good, but its not how Mike Skill did it originally... also... he recorded it using a Tele! Seen him live too "up close" and the way he does it, is easier and sounds right. An The last two chords in that opening riff, he slides down to the open D and open A, just like in the versus. I'm just saying! For many years, Coz played it after Mike left the band and Coz didn't play it exactly right...

  • @whrIII do you have a specific video in mind? I really want to learn this riff so if you say it would be easier then i wanna hear it!

  • very short!

  • its only a preview of the lesson

  • Great job!

    Thanks!

  • Do the whole song with the tab and we will all love you forever!

  • Good man awesome

  • i prefer more in depth instuctional videos, but well done

  • uhh?

need to slow it down a lil more for me.

    lol.

    actually a lot more!

  • The tab is very hard to make out, but nicely played. One thing I noticed is that the f****ring/position you use for the 3rd chord (4th string eleventh fret, 3rd string 9th fret and 2nd string 10th fret) is a little harder to play than the way it's played in the Romantics video of this song (3rd string 6th fret, 2nd string 5th fret and 1st string 5th fret). Your way of playing it sounds better from a tonal point of view IMO :)

  • The tab is very hard to make out, but nicely played. One thing I noticed is that the fingering/position you use for the 3rd chord (4th string eleventh fret, 3rd string 9th fret and 2nd string 10th fret) is different compared to the way it's played in the Romantics video of this song, where it's played 3rd string 6th fret, 2nd string 5th fret and 1st string 5th fret, which makes for an easier transition into the next chord.

  • The video makes the tab kinda blurry and hard to pull out.

  • i think i watched this 10 times, and am amazed every time...should've done the whole song!

  • they want you to pay, for nothing goes the sun up you know

  • FINALLY, somebody does this right. However, I can't tell what you're playing after after the weird A with the C#...

  • thanks :D!!
