.i am 55 and am a musician also and play everything put in front of me i dont relive those years just the feeling of the first time i heard the song now i play some of the same song for others....in my shows besides the "standards" that one plays one hit wonders are the least played so i do try to hit a few well know and obscure tunes...after all it is better to be a has been than a never was it...and it will be interesting to hear some of "stuff" thats out there now be covered..
when ever one band covers a song there are several ways to go to make the song there own...a great song is a great song no matter who covers it...there are many bands whom i admire not only for there musicianship but who they are and how they got there and the influences that got them to move to get them there RHCP is among them and the cover of this song is done well and true to the original..
Looking Glass, though somewhat of a one hit wonder, still destroys RHCP on this one. I like RHCP but they definitely should have left this one off the set list. You can't fuck with perfection!
If it was in the back room having fun i guess it'd be ok. But this is an orchstrated song and not a bass solo. Guess i'm just used to it sounding so good.
Not nearly as good as Looking Glass, but they do a decent job. Plus they are enjoying the hell out of playing the song, and are having fun. That's all that matters.
omg you motherfuckers this is a good song and the peppers made it great . @swampSurferPDX can u tell me exactly what they ruined ? nothing thats what the original is so slow and boring i fall asleep everytime i hear it .. the guitar is better the drums and the bass every song the peppers cover is great they make it more alive so a big fuck you to all of u haters

Btw if the original was so boring it would not have made number one and the Peppers would not have ever covered it. Thus saying it must have been a great song to have the Peppers look at it and be like, "Wow, I like this song, we should cover it!"
