There is a letter writing campaign and J.J. Abrams has supposedly been trying to find a way to bring Shatner as Kirk Prime back for the next movie. A lot of Shatner /Kirk fans were upset about the way Kirk was killed and just want to see him reunited with Spock Prime so they can go off together.

Yes that was really crappy way to bump captain Kirk off in Star Trek Generations (1994). But hes aged nearly 15 years now. and would be 17 years by the time the next Star Trek comes around.
