i dont think they could give a rats ass that you to dont like it they get thousands of people riding it everyday that love it and would love to ride on it over and over again
Well I think this tourist train service is very good. I went on this train while I lived in Melbourne (Mar 1970 to Jan 1974) about 5 times. Reason #1 of hte name that I use here is a tribute to those days.

Why would I possibly care where the money I paid for the ticket goes? That is none of my concern whatsoever. What I do care about is that I paid quite a high price for what turned out to be a really disappointing little train ride. It was very "bush league" and amateurish while the high price suggested otherwise. If I'd known before-hand how lame it was going to be then I wouldn't have taken the ride. For the price, though, I expected a LOT more.
"a typical whingeing pom" What an image we have! Well as Pom I LOVED it as did all our party of 22, even though it poured down all day! And it's cheaper than the equivalents in the UK
What exactly did you expect from a steam train ride? Sheesh.. there's not much to it.. you hop on the train, you go along the old route, you get off the train. It's a tourist thing, not a way to get to Emerald or Gembrook, and as a NFP tourist attraction, the price is more expensive.
I don't understand what exactly you though would happen? That the train would explode in to a .. transformer and do battle with the.. trees?

We had a great time on Puffing Billy, my little fellas loved seeing 'Thomas' and riding all the way up to Gembrook with their legs hanging out of the carriage.
this little train ride was an overpriced and disappointing joke. It's really pathetic. If this is one of the major tourist attractions in melbourne then there is nothing to see in that city
Max, it is really disappointing to realise that you could not find beauty and entertainment is this wonderful train. The ticket price goes toward the restoration and maintenance of the locos, the trains and the system. Puffing Billy is a not-for-profit organisation, money spent there goes to a good cause.
As for your assertion that it is a "disappointing joke", millions of tourists disagree with you.

As a person who has spent half his life having a lot to do with Puffing Billy I am insulted. Puffing Billy is the oldest and the most famous steam railway in Australia. If you want to see some of the special events like: The Great Train Race, Santa Special, Dinner and Luncheon Specials, Day Out with Thomas and the Commissioners Inspection Train then you'll agree the money you spent is worth it. If not, then just a sourpuss who can't simply enjoy the beauty of the Dandenong Ranges.
well why don't you shut your mouth. Its apart of the history and they pay allot to keep this train going so the kids/parents in the future can enjoy. Now they wont go on it after your rude little comment shame on you.
Why would anyone pay $20 to ride this ridiculous thing? People there must be hard up for things to do

I rode this little train, too, and I agree with Max. It really sucks. The carriages should at least be enclosed with proper seats.

What were you expecting?
I was disappointed we didn't get to do a couple of jumps and a loop the loop when I went on it but still had a good time.

Lunch at the Gembrook pub was great too.
Happy days indeed.
