There are SOME good cops, the next shift at this jail did NOT go along with this abuse and testified that they could detect NO effects or even smell of alcohol on Steffey.
The biggest problem comes from the top people covering for this, IE Sheriff Swanson, chief Deputy Rick Perez, & the Stark County Prosecutor John Ferrero.
If the buck stops at the top, then THESE people are the ones really responsible for these lawsuits & abuses at the jail.

Yes, there are big differences between jail and prison, however, strip searches are common in both. I wasnt comparing differences in either other than to state that women work in men's prisons. No big deal that men work in a jail where women are present. You dont have to be convicted to be in JAIL, only arrested for a crime...something as minimal as public intox perhaps?

The videos do not show torture, rape, sexual assault or any act of violence, nor a crime (in my opinion). They show a drunk/drugged up person screaming as she is being strip searched. They do not show her being assaulted with male fingers, nor any fingers. They do show a lot of blurred images. How did he hang himself? Perhaps he wasnt strip searched and used his belt, or maybe it was his pants or underwear. You have made up what you want to see in the videos (men removing clothing when it was women, torture when it was handcuffs and restraint when she was resisting, etc.) THOSE are facts. She may have been a VICTIM of an alleged assault, but she was the CRIMINAL that provided false ID, and was publicly intoxicated or under the influence - both criminal acts that warrant an arrest.

No need to do research. I was commenting soley based on what I saw in the video AND the comments from Zemo where he says is showing on the video. The video says nothing about a BCI. I also worked for a jail in which we kept inmates nude in a padded cell if they were suicidal or posed a threat to themselves. I sent e-mail to CNN to pick up this story especially with the latest news that these cops were NOT indicted and that they have settled a lawsuit with Hope Steffey. We should all try to contact media(local stations, MSNBC, CNN, etc). There is almost nothing about this story in the news! Zemo: I tried to contact the SCSD in April. You're nuts but admirable. The SCSD will not discuss this case of any woman who has a filed a lawsuit. And believe it or not, the people who are the most negative are the women. Men, including a seargent, actually discussed it with me. I made a total of 6 calls. I have tried to talk to the sheriff's dept, and they also would not talk about the case, but then they wouldn't talk about their 'general policies/procedures' either.

As was evident by the video (and proved by the state investigation), Steffey was never asked, or even told was was going on.
And was also evident by them leaving her naked, without even a paper covering or a garment DESIGNED for the purpose, was the fact that this was criminal abuse under the "color of law".
Were you also a crime VICTIM that was framed by the cops? (And given a bloody nose?)

There are SOME good cops, the next shift at this jail did NOT go along with this abuse and testified that they could detect NO effects or even smell of alcohol on Steffey.
The biggest problem comes from the top people covering for this, IE Sheriff Swanson, chief Deputy Rick Perez, & the Stark County Prosecutor John Ferrero.
If the buck stops at the top, then THESE people are the ones really responsible for these lawsuits & abuses at the jail.

I'm not an advocate of killing these cops, only sending them to prison for their crimes.
I have a lot of relation that are LEO's and its crap like this that puts them in a bad light and at more risk on their jobs.
The bad cops need to be removed & punished, but when they are able to "investigate' themselves and find no wrong doing it just makes people frustrated with the system, and then they want to take the law into their own hands...which makes it even more dangerous for the honest cops.

Yeah they have ALWAYS tried to sell this as a crazy extremely drunk woman.
But there are a couple of problems with that, for one witnesses there said she was not that drunk.
And for another, the jail's OWN RECORDS claim that she had no signs of being drunk either...AFTER THE SHIFT CHANGE at the jail!
Bet you never heard that one on the news. There is a LOT of stuff people just don't know about this case.

Not sure how this got started, but I had to do some cleaning.
As for the did they or didn't they have "finger action", the camera deliberately swings away from Steffey, against policy, so if its blurred or not your never going to know what REALLY happened.
Plus I have already posted the video OUTSIDE of her cell that shows that after the video it being locked, they immediately open her cell & enter again.
So you'll STILL never know what they do THEN either.
And I have asked them...no answer.

I made the comparison between Abu Ghraib and Charles Graner and the deputies of the Stark County jail. My reasoning, the tag off between the deputy that sexually assalted Mrs. Steffey, and all the laughter after the torture outside her cell. This abuse of Mrs. Steffey, is Abu Ghraib in the U.S. A. It is not surprising that Charles Graner, was a former jail guard in the U.S.A. It takes a certain kind of psychopath to torture another human being and then laugh about it!

Yes, there are big differences between jail and prison, however, strip searches are common in both. I wasnt comparing differences in either other than to state that women work in men's prisons. No big deal that men work in a jail where women are present. You dont have to be convicted to be in JAIL, only arrested for a crime...something as minimal as public intox perhaps?

She didn't provide false ID, even the cop at the trial said that she NEVER tried to pass herself off as her sister with a PHOTO ID! She just grabbed it by mistake.
She was NOT publicly under the influence, she was at a private residence.

She was not sexually abused either, she was searched. I wouldve laughed after the fact also at how ignorant and stupid people can be that get themselves into these situations and then cry about it.

Forced nudity is not torture, it is procedure to ensure safety and all inmates must strip to get into jail attire. I have never terrorized any human being either. The videos do not show torture, rape, sexual assault or any act of violence, nor a crime (in my opinion). They show a drunk/drugged up person screaming as she is being strip searched. They do not show her being assaulted with male fingers, nor any fingers. They do show a lot of blurred images. Again, what was "funny" is the way the drunken/drugged person was acting and the things she was saying. Again, had she obeyed the law she wouldnt have been in the situation she was in. PLAIN and SIMPLE.

If a strip search was warranted then this procedure looked ok. 3:30 and 3:56 is silly at best. She would not calm down and made things worse on herself. How did he hang himself? Perhaps he wasnt strip searched and used his belt, or maybe it was his pants or underwear. Was it something he brought in with him and remained on his person because he WASNT searched? If he hanged himself, he obviously had other issues prior to being arrested. Again, if you dont want to deal with being in jail, dont commit a crime or associat with those that may put you there.

You havent provided any facts. You have made up what you want to see in the videos (men removing clothing when it was women, torture when it was handcuffs and restraint when she was resisting, etc.) THOSE are facts. She may have been a VICTIM of an alleged assault, but she was the CRIMINAL that provided false ID, and was publicly intoxicated or under the influence - both criminal acts that warrant an arrest.
No therapy needed but thanks for the suggestion.

For your information the state's investigation found that the cops NEVER asked her or even told her what was going on, as you can tell by the video itself.
Plus NO news source EVER told the public that the cops actually arrested HER for the assault that she had reported.

You cannot tell anything by the video other than her asking what is going on and her being stripped for search. There is no evidence of arms being twisted or any abuse by these officers. What you DO HEAR is that she is obviously drunk or on drugs by the sound of her voice.
You cannot tell by the video that they never her told her what was going on...you can only see that they didnt tell her while video rolling. What transpired BEFORE this point?

okim, do some research before you coment. Read the BCI REPORT THAT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET! They settled out of court with her and another woman, they kept naked for 3 days. This jail is a joke, or the Abu Ghriab of OHIO. The male deputy is restaining and torturing her. And then they laugh when exiting the cell. SICKENING!

No need to do research. I was commenting soley based on what I saw in the video AND the comments from Zemo where he says is showing on the video. The video says nothing about a BCI. I also worked for a jail in which we kept inmates nude in a padded cell if they were suicidal or posed a threat to themselves. The video did NOT show any torture or restraint that I could see in the videos. .

Having a male deputy restraining a naked woman, while another male deputy performs a cavity search would absolutely constitute sexual assault in my eyes. FYI there are also women that work in male only prisons so its not a matter of gender. There is no humor in terror. Perhaps the terror was due to a mind influenced by drugs and alcohol. Had she been sober, she would have understood what was going on.

I sent e-mail to CNN to pick up this story especially with the latest news that these cops were NOT indicted and that they have settled a lawsuit with Hope Steffey. We should all try to contact media(local stations, MSNBC, CNN, etc). There is almost nothing about this story in the news! I'm sure there are TV stations out there who would love to report this story if they are made aware.

No the case isn't settled yet, I have heard that Steffey's lawyers are still talking to the county's insurance company.
The only case settled so far is the three teen girls that were strip searched.
They got $300,000.
The Russian woman's case was also delayed, it was supposed to have gone to trial next week.
She was the one that was held for THREE DAYS naked for a home schooling issue, that was dismissed immediately in court.
Now they are saying it was a botched translation...BS!

So the sheriff's people couldn't find anyone THERE to translate!??! Just as in the Hope Steffey case their excuses make no sense.
I also contacted the Bureau of Adult Detention. I asked what could be done to stop the abuses NOW. But Butch told me the that the sheriff & prosecutor are the ones that decided to set up a "policy" of having men strip the women, NOT the state!

It was 300K for all of them, 100K apiece.
Sheriff Swanson "investigated" the case and turned the results into the county prosecutor, NO CHARGES WERE FILED against ANYONE.
Big surprise huh?
Except that when I talked to Richard DeHeer, he claimed that there was NO policy for strip searching kids on a tour, nor had there EVER been such a policy.
So HOW did they end up getting abused?!?!

She claims they didn't tell her what was going on but the truth is it is her word against there word.
She didn't get strip searched she got put on suicide watch and had her clothing taken away so she didn't kill herself. Do you think she just started acting that way? Hardly. She was probably acting crazy all night long which is why they stripped her down.

And believe it or not, the people who are the most negative are the women. Men, including a seargent, actually discussed it with me. I made a total of 6 calls. I have tried to talk to the sheriff's dept, and they also would not talk about the case, but then they wouldn't talk about their 'general policies/procedures' either.
I asked how "someone" can be TOO suicidal for a suit MADE for the purpose, or even a paper covering.
