Nice video. I have a 92 40hp evinrude but I don't know what the inicial adjustments for the idle speed are I can seen to find the answer in the manual any help such how manny turns in and how manny out to start out Help.
i have a problem with my 1998 johnson 2 stroke 3 cylinders i toke it to the water for the first time sense last year and i did the winterize.but start at slow speed normal but when i go to 3/4 of the throttle to full speed start to struggle it doesn't die it just keep fighting to keep going and like after 5 mnts it goes back to normal but only for 1 mnt. i empty the fuel thank and lines new fuel filter and spark plugs and toke the carbs out to take the old fuel. but nothing could be jet needle?
From one Canadian to another: Great vid!!!!! Just bought a 1973 Johnson 25hp. Runs great, but I`m going to clean the carb anyhow (not sure when it was done last). Carb kit will be in today! GREAT tips on removing/installing the little frost plugs!!!!!!! I`ve always wondered how the heck to remove them. Not familiar with boat carbs, but I do 100`s of snowmobile carbs a year, this should be a sinch!!!! Thanks for the video, very clear and precise....thumbs up!!!!!!!
Help lol over at iboats.net force forum. Lots fuel pressure related problems. Can carb stop flow of fuel at idle? Same carb as mercury 50 60 hp 2 strokes. No idle jets just strange tube.
but what do you need to do if your carbs still arnt right. i have a 1986 omc sea drive 2.6L (175) and it starts up and runs good at idle and also when out of the water, she runs great. but when under a load the motor will not get the boa tout on plane. i can idle all day long, but she just wont just out on it. what is my problem???
ok, would shooting air through the orifice's get them clean. i'm also going to use carb cleaner too, but do you think that will be enough? i really don't want to have to mess with the jets.
i finally got my johnson 25seahorse running after she sat under water for to tides. sprayed wd40 everywhere but shop said be cheaoer to buy another cheap engine. then she seized but i unseized her, cleaned the salt outta carb. obviously there was more to it than that but i learned alot from it.i narrowed it down to carb cos she started on easy start spray(i know, i'm a turd, dont use that for these)but she fired up. anyway, useful vid, if only i watched it first.
many thinks for your video, i think you should do more, i got a mercury 60 hp 2 stroke, an it's a vrey strong engine, and various problem occur. I even make the piston chamber big.... give more details on the carburator, how to clear the thing
Yes, that is correct.

Once you take out the plugs you have to replace with new ones right??

I have a friend who told me that outboard motors are a lot more expensive to work on than inboard/outboards ... Is this true?

Your main jets are clogged.

Normally if you rebuild the carbs and its done correctly....and it still does not work. The problem lies elsewhere.
Compression and Spark are always the place to start. There is no need wasting your time if you are looking in the wrong direction.
