I am brazilian and went to US last week. I bought Joel´s book to understand why he is so famous. I read only 10 pages and gave up. It´s not the Gospel I learn from Scripture. I hope people in US abandon him and his lies as soon as possible.
When Joel comes on Tv, I want you to record him. Whenever he brings a bible verse up on the bottom of the screen, I want you to open your bible and compare the verse on the screen against the verse in your bible. First, I agree with the above quoted statement in the sense that all humans who sin (which would be all humans except Jesus Christ) are sinners and thus are inherently immoral and corrupt.

There are many ministers at Lakewood and they have multiple services. I know members that don't listen to Osteen preach! They prefer to listen to other ministers at Lakewood! To be honest there are preachers there that are better than Osteen! LOL! And many members prefer them! Osteen just isn't that good but that doesn't make him a deceiver!
We should be forever grateful for people like Mr. Osteen.. with their knowledge and know-how, they encourage others like you and me in this desperate world!

Most of Christ's earthly ministry was concerning how one might enter into the "Kingdom of Heaven". This is not the same as eternal life, which is a seperate aspect of Christ's teachings. The "Kingdom of Heaven" is a state of mind where one lives in perfect peace. Being in the world but not conformed to the word! This is what Jesus defines as a good life.
My concern isn't what Jesus calls a good life, it's what JO's means when he says that over and over again as if it's his mantra. For the most part, Jesus isn't concerned with us living a good life, what He is concerned with is that we live an obedient and holy life.
The term "good life" is subjective and can mean different things to different people, which is my original point. I've never heard JO refer to a holy or obedient life but he uses good life and best life ad nauseum. The closest reference I can think of in regard to "good life" is in John 10:10 when Jesus refers to the "abundant life".
Jesus defines a good life as entering into the "Kingdom of Heaven". According to Christ's teachings the Kingdom of Heaven is here right now and available to anyone who would seek to enter into it! Once when enter into his kingdom our world view and the way that we respond to world circumstances are changed. Then everything that God wills for our life is added unto us. "Seek ye first the kingdom ... all these thing will be added unto you"!
How long will you follow the thing that makes you feel good and that you want to hear. IF YOU WANT THERAPY GO TO A THERAPIST. IF YOU WANT TO BE TAUGHT RIGHT FIND A CHURCH THAT TEACHES RIGHT OR LET THE SPIRIT TEACH YOU.
You would have us listen to someone telling us we are all sinners and how we should perpetually repent! That guilt trip is a tool of Satan! This is an old trick of Satan that is used to convince ppl that they are beyond redemption. We must be careful that we do not drive ppl away from redemption. Using Christ as an example we see how Jesus lovingly offers forgiveness of sins to transgressors in the scriptures.

The one time I heard him get close to the subject(s)(Larry King), it was painfully aware that he was very uncomfortable talking about it. I believe it is because he is deathly afraid of alienating his viewers. That is why he was unable to say to LK that Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved period. He danced around that subject like Fred Astaire.
Oh ok, well that's different, I wasn't sure what you were saying. Absolutely there is forgiveness, and I am glad to see you don't have a problem with repenting of certain works. I guess what we are saying is basically that His message is weak, but listen I have no problem with people being encouraged, so I am not against that. It's his manner of doing this that is wrong.
It's when you make that your whole message about " think positive so positive things will happen in your life" that's something that concerns me. He should be a personal coach not a "pastor" that's all I am saying. You never did see Christ or the apostles or the prophets talking in this manner, so shouldn't we follow their example?

This preacher is great!! I'm from houston and when I went to his church. Everybody was so happy, and very excited. And the sermon was WOW!!!!! I attend many black churches, and I am black. Yea he screamed and fuss!! and I had no idea what he was talkn about. Thats why I like to hear Osteen!! I pray for him all the time, and I ask God to keep the evil and trouble away from his ministry. I hope it will grow even bigger.
Strange he never preaches sin, repentance or God's judgment. If u dont repent if doesnt matter how much worry/stress u turn over to Him, ur separated from God because of your sin. I think he should create satellite churches, where folks could gather and watch a live feed on Sunday morning from Houston. I know he had taped services on TV, but it lacks the fellowship of a physical church. Yet, I don't want to have some other preacher at the satellite church, just a video screen and a staff for community services.

Several of your words point to a very severe religous indocrination I must warn you. Jesus was not an actual person but a compilation drawn from other historical figures such as the ancient egyptian god Horus. The great William Kingdon Clifford wrote a book "The Ethics of Belief" which examines whether it is ever okay for humans to believe in anything where there is no evidence so that might be a great starting point for your journey to the truth.

There is no evidence that there ever was an actual person Jesus since the Josephus writings were shown to be forgeries. Likewise, Moses was only a "legendary" figure and no evidence of the Exodus actually taking place has ever been found. Professor Herzog of Tel-Aviv U. confirms it was probably just a devious jew land claim concocted for future generations of jews to use against Egypt.

jews were never in egypt as any egyptian will tell you and all the archaelogical evidence points to that. Our happy lives are NOT the prime product of his Death and Resurrection, it is the BY PRODUCT. We are alive in Christ to serve God not to be served by Him. Joel is a bubble gum preacher. We are all sinners and we all need redemption and Joel does not say word one of this, he does not use the Scripture convict. Everyday I am still a man in need of a Savior. Not for my own glory but for the Glory of God!!! I deserve hell but through the grace of the Sacrifice of Jesus I am saved, and will serve the Living God for all eternity to Him be all the Glory, Honor, and Praise.

Its great to see the youtube community speaking out on what is clearly anti-gospel. Its so hard to sift through the Christian right, and today's "evangelism" but I have to say that Joel Osteen is very clearly a stumbling block to those of us who earnestly seek Christ for his truth and I'm glad see that we aren't buying it I hope and pray for more pressure on such a gnostic message.

Paul said very clearly that "if a man comes to you preaching a different Christ from the one you received, have nothing to do with him for he is accursed."
Joel Osteen very clearly preaches a Christ different from the one I received. So, as the scriptures state, I will have nothing to do with him and will use every chance I get to warn others of his false message.

There are many ministers at Lakewood and they have multiple services. I know members that don't listen to Osteen preach! They prefer to listen to other ministers at Lakewood! To be honest there are preachers there that are better than Osteen! LOL! And many members prefer them! Osteen just isn't that good but that doesn't make him a deceiver!

Mostly what he does his impart his own life stories and throw in a couple of wholesome jokes for laughs and conclude with a watered down meaningless prayer that sounds as if it's been regurgitated from the week before.

Most of Christ's earthly ministry was concerning how one might enter into the "Kingdom of Heaven". This is not the same as eternal life, which is a seperate aspect of Christ's teachings. The "Kingdom of Heaven" is a state of mind where one lives in perfect peace. Being in the world but not conformed to the word! This is what Jesus defines as a good life.

My concern isn't what Jesus calls a good life, it's what JO's means when he says that over and over again as if it's his mantra. For the most part, Jesus isn't concerned with us living a good life, what He is concerned with is that we live an obedient and holy life.

The term "good life" is subjective and can mean different things to different people, which is my original point. I've never heard JO refer to a holy or obedient life but he uses good life and best life ad nauseum. The closest reference I can think of in regard to "good life" is in John 10:10 when Jesus refers to the "abundant life".

Jesus defines a good life as entering into the "Kingdom of Heaven". According to Christ's teachings the Kingdom of Heaven is here right now and available to anyone who would seek to enter into it! Once when enter into his kingdom our world view and the way that we respond to world circumstances are changed. Then everything that God wills for our life is added unto us. "Seek ye first the kingdom ... all these thing will be added unto you"!

Nothing wrong with telling people to repent. The tool of Satan of which I refer to is the brow beating that is dished out concerning sin! This is an old trick of Satan that is used to convince ppl that they are beyond redemption. We must be careful that we do not drive ppl away from redemption. Using Christ as an example we see how Jesus lovingly offers forgiveness of sins to transgressors in the scriptures.

The one time I heard him get close to the subject(s)(Larry King), it was painfully aware that he was very uncomfortable talking about it. I believe it is because he is deathly afraid of alienating his viewers. That is why he was unable to say to LK that Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved period. He danced around that subject like Fred Astaire.

I guess what we are saying is basically that His message is weak, but listen I have no problem with people being encouraged, so I am not against that. It's his manner of doing this that is wrong.

I should point out that I love other Christians so much that I would hope they are walking in the Spirit so that they may see for themselves that this place isn't the best place to attend. That being said there are people FAR worse that call themselves Pastors so I am not singling out Osteen.

This preacher is great!! I'm from houston and when I went to his church. Everybody was so happy, and very excited. And the sermon was WOW!!!!! I attend many black churches, and I am black. Yea he screamed and fuss!! and I had no idea what he was talkn about. Thats why I like to hear Osteen!! I pray for him all the time, and I ask God to keep the evil and trouble away from his ministry. I hope it will grow even bigger.

Strange he never preaches sin, repentance or God's judgment. If u dont repent if doesnt matter how much worry/stress u turn over to Him, ur separated from God because of your sin. As for "checking it at the door" the bible says to repent and not do it. This self actualization message is totally opposite of what Jesus preached. Dont take my word for it, compare Joel's words to what Jesus & the disciples = 2 totally different messages.

I think he should create satellite churches, where folks could gather and watch a live feed on Sunday morning from Houston. I know he had taped services on TV, but it lacks the fellowship of a physical church. Yet, I don't want to have some other preacher at the satellite church, just a video screen and a staff for community services.
