Wait... How could GL kill someone? The ring has a failsafe that forbids it. You can't kill someone except in dire emergency or when given specific order from the Guardians.
I cannot give Kevin Conroy enough credit for his voice acting in this episode changing tones between the two Batmans and doing the same voice for both
"... I have been giving some thought to politics."
"A homicidal maniac who has been in jail more times than this video's been viewed, controlled by an alien computer, and tried to kill the superheroes of the world every day. Well, he's not Bush."
Superman reminds me of something Dr Who says when describing himself. Paraphrased as 'Good men need no rules as their consence is a good guide..... you don't want to know why I have so many rules.'
I know Superman has a lot of rabid fans... but I've never been one of them. He is SO full of himself and the "boy scout" personality makes his hubris seem even worse. He thinks so highly of himself he makes robots to fill in, because we all know NOTHING can ever get done without Superman. In the DCU, those robots have done more harm than good in numerous ways. A powerless Batman or Wonder Woman would kick a powerless Superman's ass.
@SJYNYC I think he's puprosely created that way that way his seemingly good quality is his greatest flaw. Which is why lex luthor is his greatest enemy because he knows how to manipulate it and take advantage of it. If superman were like batman then he would truly be almost invincible and wouldnt be as interesting. lol So even the "perfect" hero has his big faults lol.
Targeting the source makes sense, Only flaw with it working on all of them is GL is taught to use the ring and Hawkgirl has no powers per say. So in theory both of them should be able to regain powers. In the case of hawkgirl vital nerves and muscles may have been 'deactivated to prevent use by the disruptor.
It seems the power disruptor shuts down powers perhaps by shutting down there sources example for supes the machines probably instantly drains his solar energy reserves same for green lantern
@Tasadaru I would sacrifice anything fir security and safe streets. Look at Libya now for example: my country has not been the same since rebels took over control after the death of the old regime. Everyone has an AK-47 and armed melitias rule the country. no respect to politicians. And yeah, looting, bank robery in the middle of the day. Grand Theft Auto style of car jacking (I was car jacked). So I give up liberty and free speach as long as I have free education and healthcare, plus security!
@randomv3iwer I respect your opinion. In the United States, the country was founded on the idea that natural rights should never be sacrificed for security. The founders believed that because natural rights come from our creator government has no right to take them unless one infringes on others' rights. If you murder someone you lose your rights through the court system and go to jail. I will not dispute your beliefs but that idea alone is repugnant in a free society
@Tasadaru when you use your country as an example, it changes the whole balance in the equation. I lived in America for more than five years and I realized no matter how different the racial identities or relgious beliefs, Americans will sacrifice their arms and legs to have a country where you can claim your rights in court of law. but in my peoples' case tha's a whole lot different. you can't expect hulligans to know what is human rights! the only understand fear. God Bless America
@randomv3iwer rights do not equal liberty, never forget that. Rights are given to you by your government and are therefore the only ones you can fight for but can also be taken away very easily. IMHO the usa is a bad example if you want to talk about liberty.
@GriefSeeker if it affects him the others should be dead right? I mean if something HURTS Superman, then most of the other heroes will die by that thing it hurt him.
The Geneva Conventions comprise four treaties, and three additional protocols, that establish the standards of international law for the humanitarian treatment of the victims of war. The singular term Geneva Convention denotes the agreements of 1949, negotiated in the aftermath of the Second World War (1939–45), which updated the terms of the first three treaties (1864, 1906, 1929), and added a fourth treaty.
The articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949) extensively defined the basic rights of prisoners (civil and military) during war; established protections for the wounded; and established protections for the civilians in and around a war zone. The treaties of 1949 were ratified, in whole or with reservations, by 194 countries. The Geneva Convention also defines the rights and protections of non-combatants.
Moreover, because the Geneva Conventions are about people in war, the articles do not address warfare proper — the use of weapons of war — which is the subject of the Hague Conventions (First Hague Conference, 1899; Second Hague Conference 1907), and the bio–chemical warfare Geneva Protocol (Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare, 1929).
@Nuggetol i thought so too, but it didn't look like it struct a vein, or anything enough for that matter to change his mind. i love the story line, no doubt, but i think they should've made this episode a little longer to fill the holes....
@TyTimeIsAwesome I think in the commentary they said Justice League Batman had thought of saying that line "They'd be so proud of you" but he was waiting for the right opportunity
I seriously don't understand the DC universe. Lex luther kills/injures/kidnaps thousands of people every year yet instead of putting him in a state that still has capital punishment they put him in a luxury cell and still have minor thieves/murders be killed off. Then when it comes time for an election they all think "Hey!! wouldn't that lex luther guy who constantly threatens our lives be a great person to be in charge?" . Marvel is guilty of this too with norman osbourn.
@Cheeselord123 I think its Marvel and DC's way of showing how stupid the general public is when it comes to who should lead the contury. So far in history we've made so many horrible choices in this world that many think when the "world ends" they're talking about the USA destroying itself as its trying to take complete control. Sadly I feel that time might come soon and 10 years from now, USA probably won't exist or it will form into a dictatorship
@Cheeselord123 That pissed me off when they put Norman Osborn in charge of SHIELD. Yes, Norman, I'm thankful you killed the Skrull Queen, but you're still a raving, murdering lunatic, so no power for you.
@Cheeselord123 I think it is about how corruption in the legal profesion and a media that can be bought or at least easily spun stops real criminals from spending a long time in jail. If you want a good look at the system watch all 5 seasons of The Wire. Its depressing but you see how it works in real life (as it is a depressingly real show).
@Kserijaro Most versions of Lex Luthor aren't known as a villain to the public. It's more plausible for him to be elected president than you may think.
@Cheeselord123 Luthor is known as a business man, same thing with Norman osborn. Only the heroes and government knew who they really were like. And they can't just bust them because both have had dealins with the government.
Batman:"And with that power we've made a world where no 8 year old boy will ever lose his parents! Because of some punk with a gun..."
Batman:"Low blow me..."
Seriously though, this episode is one of the most revealing regarding batman. He may not seem like a front runner in this one, but those scenes where he is in a battle of wits with himself are universally brilliant.
@Ruach I took it that he was faking the reaction. We see a few minutes later he is saying 'they would be so proud.' Considering his dad fought for freedom, democracy and the little guy I don't think Lord Bats has it all his own way.
Batman is so smart he tricked himself. He never wanted to fight the other Batman, which is why he did not bring Jon. He played the other Batman like a sucka to send them back. Bravo
How is that gun taking away their genetic abilities, is it turning them into humans? If so, why is Manhunter still green? Can't green lantern just recharge his ring? Gosh I'm over thinking this. It's a mcguffin, okay, I'm over it.
@SerpentVX I tend to think that the drain was temporary; it simply weakened them tremendously (not terribly difficult to do given the other things Luthor has built), long enough for them to be returned to their universe and for Lord Batman, who had by this point chosen to side with the Justice League, to imprison them.
the world could really use the justice lords right now to clean up the mess we're in !! purge all the wrong people ,places and things !! get it on and get it gone !!!
@cdawg2474 if they take it to the extreme like they did with that guy who complained with the food, then im sure 3/4 of the world would be behind bars which im sure includes you XD
Funny how the Justice League lead the Justice Lords in the same trap they set them up with....must be a Multi -verse thing your own self will do the same as you would....like a freaky mirror
Lord batman must have seen sometime ahead the justice league in action. Batman alway's knows everything from putting facts together and searching for the truth. From watching the justice league, he could see that they never stood a chance against his team. So, knowing that there are establiazed time lines and that they have to do what they already did, he built a portal so he could help them win. If the time lines changed then the universe would go crazy. Anyone get what i'm saying?
@DrRock9192 it's the old expression. " I can't trust anyone but myself". Also because they are still the same person, don't think the evil batman killed anyone, because joker, two face, and ivy and others were in arkham, like how the good batman doesn't kill anyone. get what i'm saying?
Wow. I was confused for a minute there. Still, that might have been the best episode of the series, out of the one's I've seen, so far. Any votes on which episode is the best in the series?
its weird how every villian or person is scard of batman and hes a regular human exect for at the peak of the human mind and can lift over 1000 pounds but still hes a regular human but no one is scard of superman! its so dumb but batman FTW
Who would you be afraid the Superhuman that has been killed and has had his ass kicked across the world a bunch of times. Or the Human who no matter how beat up he gets always ends up on top. Even kicks Superman ass from time to time.
@MrNavyseal18 No nowhere near as fast. Whenever they had races, Flash purposely slowed down to put on a show. Flash is also able to speed up different parts of his body, his molecules, his heart. Superman states that he can't fly or ran as fast as the flash. Plus the flash has the Speed Force, something thats even faster than the speed of light. In a fight though, Superman would stll win, Flash is the youngest and most inexperiences of the Justice League.
Why would the power disruptor machine affect Superman, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl? Aren't their abilities basically natural for them?
I've always wondered if Lord Batman actually planned the downfall for the Justice Lords when he built that portal to another dimension... maybe he knew another team could take his team down :P

I still can't understand something... if batman doesn't trust anybody, then why evil batman let the good one drive?!
DrRock9192 3 months ago
@DrRock9192 I'm pretty sure he can trust himself to drive, no?
Battleguild 3 months ago
@DrRock9192 it's the old expression. " I can't trust anyone but myself". Also because they are still the same person, don't think the evil batman killed anyone, because joker, two face, and ivy and others were in arkham, like how the good batman doesn't kill anyone. get what i'm saying?

I love the conversation the Batmen have when they're fighting each other and how our Batman sais "You win..." conversation with your true demons.

Wow. I was confused for a minute there. Still, that might have been the best episode of the series, out of the one's I've seen, so far. Any votes on which episode is the best in the series?

@commderben
Who would you be afraid the Superhuman that has been killed and has had his ass kicked across the world a bunch of times. Or the Human who no matter how beat up he gets always ends up on top. Even kicks Superman ass from time to time.

I thought superman was just as.fast as the flash?
MrNavyseal18 4 months ago
@MrNavyseal18 when running, probably. But Flash's main power is speed so his specialization allows him to do more things.
FlawArtist 4 months ago

NoNameDEF 4 months ago
@NoNameDEF I know I thought the same thing. The machine should not affect Superman, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl.

I've always wondered if Lord Batman actually planned the downfall for the Justice Lords when he built that portal to another dimension... maybe he knew another team could take his team down :P
