  • they opened for aerosmith in trenton when i saw them.t hey shoulda closed

  • The one and the only:Mr Michael Schenker!!!Great guitar master and great band,i love'em!

  • I think Scorpions lead guitarist Mathias Jabbs is great but can you imagine if Michael stayed on board /

  • @LordGandor3 Nothing to say against the wonderful Michael Schenker, but don't forget that Scorpions first replaced him with Uli John Roth, another giant axeman!

  • Before there was Nikki Sixx, before there was Steve Harris, there was Pete Way. I am not talking about bass playing style, but the look. You can tell he influenced their look. Same with

Jim Dandy Mangrum's look being used by David Lee Roth.

  • Pete Way!!!

  • Schenker, Malmsteen, Becker - they're ALL great players! Why can't we just sit back and enjoy the cool tunes, without it turning into a pissing contest? Peace!

  • You know what I find absolutely fucking crazy? Schenker was probably 21 years old in this vid. That he was that good at that age in mf'n insane!

  • let it roll was always BTO. then I heard this sorry it is still a BTO song. Check it out people.

  • @jmaxcamp fyi the song you are talking about is let it ride, not roll.

  • супер группа superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Schenker is indeed amazing. But jason becker can play circles around him.

  • @TheMark5656 was Jason Becker even an ache in his old mans shorts when this was filmed? Fuck easy to say that shit but this was 3 decades ago plus...Becker and all the other nimble fingered guitar gods would shudder to hear you say that since MS inspired them and they had 20 years to copy...who the fuck did MS copy? You wanna be famous for sounding unique or just blinding speed...snore...

  • @TheUliwon Actually, Becker has a gift. Do you ever listen to what he produced at age 17? Hes not all about speed, he has feeling in his music. The fuck do you mean speed? Surely you mean yngwie? And no, Becker did not copy anyone. He is basically a natural virtuoso on the guitar

  • @TheMark5656 I appreciate what you're saying, my point is was he even alive when this was recorded? therefore why even compare?...everybody is always rating over simply enjoying...and certainly not Yngwie...that man has no soul...I know who Becker is...too bad about his story....I'm familar with him and Marty etc...

  • The song that hooked me on UFO absolutely love this band!! Glad some dumbass left his force it cassette under his or her car seat very lucky i found it:)

  • schenker and rhoads on the stage together would have been something to see...

  • One of their heaviest tracks, awesome! Listen to that riff at 1:25, love that part.

  • I recently saw Schenker. MY GOD this guy just landed in my top 10 all time greats!!!! Tone Style Stage Presence, and most notably he didn't fuck up but 1 time all night and that was last song! Wisconsin loves Schenker

  • great music but the most boring live show i have ever seen. saw this line up 2 times. couldnt wait for it to end

  • @rizzlaxl Boring? I must be watching a different video...

  • Moggie and Way were good! But Schenker made them great!

  • @myroseaccount absolutely

  • This is absolutely amazing video: close-up of Michael's solo, videoand sound quality. THANS for posting, nice job!

  • Schenker is a BEAST!

  • LED ZEPPLIN!

  • definitly a under rated band

  • Blue what, Buck who? Don't even mention it in this section please. I don't want to be forced to hurt anybody. Thank You. By the way, this is UFO, show some respect or get the fuck out.

  • @LivingAfterMetal YEAH! You tell 'em!

  • top posting thanx mate

  • Great video of one of the greats! I don't know if its listed somewhere, but is this from a DVD that is purchaseable? Are there any full video concerts of this era UFO?

  • @chazmusic Yes there is. Awesome stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • Jimmy Page ~!

  • @MixxMasterKid Lol! This is the kid that put away all those heroes of yours mate!

  • For Hardcore u.f.o. fans only....

  • Blue Oyster Cult has about a dozen studio albums, several live albums, worked with such artists as Aldo Nova and Joe Satriani and has been ref, Six Feet Under and so many others it's hard to know them referenced by many social icons such as Stephen King, the Simpsons, 6 Feet Under and so many more that it's hard to know them all. ! stupid ass joke in Police Academy shouldn't stop you from knowing one of the most underrated bands in ALL of music, much like UFO has been disrespected.

  • Damn, I forgot about this song. This is a hot version for sure, thx for posting!

  • @triuman Blue Oyster Cult has about a dozen studio albums, several live albums, worked with such artists as Aldo Nova and Joe Satriani and has been ref, Six Feet Under and so many others it's hard to know them referenced by many social icons such as Stephen King, the Simpsons, 6 Feet Under and so many more that it's hard to know them all. ! stupid ass joke in Police Academy shouldn't stop you from knowing one of the most underrated bands in ALL of music, much like UFO has been disrespected.

  • Donald (Buck Dharma)Roeser guitarist for Blue Oyster Cult,

  • Michael Shenker Rock On \m/

  • Qué grandes sois!!

  • He's a pretty mellow German dude

  • When this band came to town, I said I thought that any band with more than 4 was gay or something of the time which meant the same thing. I listen to this and it seems to me as the selfish sole that I am. Noticed that Michael was over shadowed by a piano that made him to me sound what us Americans are today, OVER PROCESSED. Its a natural thing, everyone just let it roll, as intended.

  • Wow this is great performance....I saw Mishael Schanker few years a go live in Victoria BC.....I could not believe my eyes..i thought to jump on stage and get guitar in my hand and show him how to play this tune. What a disappointment....

I do not know what is wrong with this guy.He plays gig in the front about 200 people....just disappointment ..............

  • buck dharma ??? are you shittin me ?? schenker could out play him with with two fingers !!! i think someone tryed the brown acid....

  • ms is so amazing on the guitar!

  • Smokin' HOT!

  • phil mogg great underated

  • This was one of the best shows i saw UFO do was strangers in the night live in Chicago. We had like 20 ppl go that night and let me tell you, Schenker and the boys just rocked the fuck out of us all night . One hell of a damn show !!

  • He's simply MAGIC!

  • jeez,i still have the double album(LP) Space Rock? in my collection.....,

    great memories of these guys!

    cheers

  • The only good thing that came out of this band was Michael Schenker !!

  • Just saw Michael. He is the Man. The solo to Rock Bottom was the best live guitar playing I've ever seen.

  • @tempofreak69 .. man i totaly agree, just saw MSG in july outside of boston and he is in great form again!!! when they closed with rock bottom it really was unreal.. michael is the man...

  • Five words: Frank Zappa Muffin Man live. watch?v=aFIMWRXWY90&feature=related

  • This Is THE REAL DEAL - G.O.G. (God On Guitar) - Less than two years before "Strangers In The Night" was recorded, possibly even the same year, which along with a few other genuine gems, either ties for the number one slot as Best Live Album Ever Made by anyone EVER! There's Sir Schenker, The One and Only True "Mad AxeMan",and There's all the wannabes, who are "Mad Axemen", purely because they can't even remotely compare to his amazing Improvisational genius, and Mastery Of Magical Melody!!!!

  • @DougRoxxx I have S.I.T.N. and it's the greatest live album i ever heard. Also UFO is my favorite band, thats not the only reason. It sounds like everything went perfect for UFO the night that album was recorded, but i've seen UFO 4 times and they were amazing. One show in Toronto w/Schenker at Massey Hall, they opened for Reo speedwagon.UFO destroyed them, people walked out after their first song.UFOshould be bigger than u2 g'n'r,and all these new bands.Part of the problem is radio doesn't play UFO.

  • Absolutely immaculate guitar playing from the Schenk..

  • this is the typical thing of the mid 70s... this hard rock floatin guitar (near a cotton cloud) cannot be found now... guns n roses were one of the ten and more famous bands who were influenced by those guys. solid and inspired band...

well some said until 1979... but i choose a more delicate 1983... at least in 83 they were better than black sabath and the who.

  • gggrrreeeaaattt.the best.

  • Godly guitar playin.

  • Michael is just unreal.

One of the most distinctive articulate melodic players on the planet.

    Just one of a kind.

I always dream to have that touch and vibrato.

  • @glezzery Articulate, emotive, Soul to the bone, I know what ya mean by dreaming to have that "touch"

Its one thing to create it and another to do it. I dream up all kinds of shit along these lines then try and kick it out and always end up saying "Fuck you michael... Ilove you..... but fuck you" Just try the intro to rock bottom and it gets ya moving in his mindset. Very cool.

  • @glezzery I agree 100%

  • I dig this....very sweet

  • Awesome solo on this track, and the rest of the tune is an absolute raver! Thanks for posting. Really takes me back...

  • Michael Schenker is so much better than Buck Dharma that it's scary.

And Buck Dharma is pretty damn good! One of my all time faves.

  • Just saw them again last night (1st time in Chicago in 1980) and they still kicked ass! What a great band! As far as Schenker vs Dharma, Am a HUGE Cult fan! Gotta go with Buck but Schenker is right up there!

  • You need to recheck the old UFO albums. Schenker and Dharma are really not even in the same category.

I mean can you see Buck writing a song like Rock Bottom.

And Schenker was 18 when he wrote that and the others on Phenomenon. 19 when the ass stomper Force It came out. And he continued to improve until the mid 80's. It's not even close.

  • your right - they are completely different! Both amazing (in different ways).

  • @iwork2hrd why don't they stop with those kind of fights...

the vs thing... i don't like it that much... well...but ok it makes us talk a lot...

the question can be... which band has made the best album ? in the shenker vs dharma catch fight.... i'm for nobody...they are differents and they offer different perspectives of what is a great rock n roll guitarist

but you can put Joe Perry too.... or Alex Lifeson...and ....there's Peter Frampton .... etc...

  • @selby06 that's a tuff one, There both great players and both great bands, last days of may by BOC studio version was a bit like schenker, and was my favorite from them, but schenker rules.

  • @selby06 No, Buck Dharma is much better than Michael Schenker.

  • @selby06 - O.M.G ! Was that a REVELATION ?

THERE IS NO BETTER THAN THE MAD AXE MAN !

  • @selby06 I have heard of the Legend,Schenker, But i have never heard of Buck Dharma, It sounds fake like Buck Rodgers,or maybe Duck Dodgers in the 25th & a half Century,Please inform me, as I have studied & played music for 35 yrs & never heard of him,,or Her,,,They must be very good

  • @Bloodaxe1300 I take it you're not a huge Blue Oyster Cult fan?

  • @YogthSothoth No i'm not a fan of Blue oyster cult, I always thought it was a gay band, You know like the Blue Oyster club, a gay club i seen on some silly movie, Maybe I should give them a listen if their not

  • @Bloodaxe1300 Well, thats a pretty strange reason not to check out a band, but we all have our quirks.

I haven't heard the vast majority of their stuff but I can tell you that their first two albums (s/t, Tyranny and Mutation) plus their first live album (On Your Feet Or On Your Knees) are absolutely mandatory if you like heavy rock and roll with an emphasis on excellent riffing. Check out the songs The Red and the Black or Seven Screaming Diz-busters for examples.

  • Fantastic!

  • Hey, any1 mentioned how he holdes his pick in this one? watch at 2:34

  • That is strange to not use the point... good catch.

  • @mvbeckril ..that is an important revelation. never knew that. SRV also held the pick upside down...there is alot of speed gained in that kind of approach but it softens the attack...unless your MS or SRV - what a great player MS was.

  • yeah, a little unorthodox, but i hold mine the same way and it has never fumbled loose. more control, imo. all that hold it over the crease of your index with the thumb parallel to it is a bunch of happy horseshit. lol

  • does anyone else remember seeing UFO (I think it was Way and Mogg) on Hollywood Squares back in the 70's....? It was rock n roll week. They also had Steven Tyler and Joe Perry in a square...Todd Rudgren was there too. Does anyone know where I can see this...??

  • prolly in some hollywood vault, i'm sorry to say

  • yeah.....probably.

    :(

That would be such a trip to see again!!

    thx..

  • I do remember that. My uncle worked on that show,he said that the rockers were raiding the craft service tables all day!!..LOL!!

  • No way! So I didn't imagine it!! Were you into UFO at the time or just a kid too..??? I was just a kid but I remember thinking that the name UFO was strange..? I think It was Way and Mogg in the square....must have been about 75 or 76?

    thx bro!

  • I was into UFO at the time. It was 1979, I was 15 and I aleady had Lights Out and Strangers was racing up the charts..Peace..

  • he dude....wow you're saying they were on Hollywood squares in 79..???!! Man, that can't be, I think we're about the same age (45?) I'm pretty sure I was a kid when I saw that..?? But memories can be deceiving. Anyway of tracking down a clip of that...??

    thx, cheers!

  • My uncle died about 6 years ago he was a cinematographer in LA. I'lll ask around some of his colleges. I'll try..Peace

  • Ha....nice!

    thx dude!!

  • @LBjim Me too

  • is that Mogg?? shenker looks nothin like his bro. I heard Iommi was trying to get Mogg in Sabbath at one time??Is Clause Mien a fag? I heard that too??

  • When was this - anyone know? Moggy looks like he lopped the dodgy hair off though - the 1975 fringe has been replaced by what looks like a perm done by his mum.

  • LOL!!

  • Is Klaus Meine a fag? Get out of here.

    Are you?

  • Yeah I pretty much heard he is. If you can denounce this It would be welcome.

  • Yeah, you pretty much got misinformed.

    Wrong answer.

  • Alright, jus somethin I heard

  • I'd have to disagree with everyone, UFO Strangers in the NIght is definately the best album

  • eu vi um UFO!!

    bom pacarai o som

  • Schenker sings on the guitar.

  • can someone pls,pls tell me wich albums are the most heavy?

    thanx

  • Phenomenon and Force It

  • Get the live album. I saw them 3 years ago in the UK, they shame modern bands... Awesome, just awesome.

  • Strangers in the night is the album I meant....

  • Listen to me. Don't start with the live album until you get accustomed to their songs/sound. Get Force It and Phenomenon first, all the others will fall in place. Cheers.

Stranger in the Night the brilliant live one. But you gotta get the 2 I stated first. "Force It" is an ass stomper, no doubt! Get it first man. I mean now!

  • I saw UFO in 1978 at the Forum in LA. They opened for the then-very popular Blue Oyster Cult. It was the first concert I ever went to, so UFO is always special for me.

Back in those days I also saw Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Montrose, and.......wait for it......Linda Ronstadt! Ha ha ah!

  • this song was fucking awsome..i never heard UFO before but Dave Mustaine said he use to listen to them alot in an interview so i decided to check em out.\m/

  • Get the albums with Schenker(70's UFO/Scorps). Mustaine is right. Force it, Phenomenon, Lights out and the live album Stranger in the Night are brilliant. Schenker is a god.

  • your so right..I went through wearing out quite a few of his albums

    Thanks,

    ChariceFl

  • Don't forget No Heavy Petting and Obsession...Some of the best stuff they've done is on those 2 albums

  • I know. I simply was saying. Start with Force It and Phenomenon if you have never heard a record from them. No Heavy I like ALOT. But I thought Obsession was my least favorite of the studio albums from them. But it is damn good, just not as good as the others to me. UFO with Schenker never made anything but great stuff.

  • UFO is a main influence of Steve Harris & Iron Maiden. Maiden totally stole the whole "galloping guitar" sound from UFO, and Harris gives credit where credit is due.

  • Amen to that.

  • prvthampton is a fuckin fool this idiot only knew the diffrent era UFO and IRON MAIDEN were in i've seen them both live and both kick ass. YOU FUCKIN FOOL!!!!!!!!!

  • These were the best of the best bands out there. U.F.O. Thin Lizzy, and Pink Floyd was the best ive ever seen. These bands were the musicians choice of bands. Just incredible live performaces they gave.

  • nobody makes music like that these days except me im probably the only 15 year old in the world that lstens to nothing but the 70's and 60's music not naything else ill bring back the good time sand the good music.

  • your a bit concieted dude, your most definitely not the only 15 year old in the world that listens to nothing but classic music. TRUST ME.

  • best stoner tunes from the 70's, wish I still there, growing up sucks!!

  • Best video on youtube

  • UFO was a great band along with many other classic bands.Heavey metal need to bring in a new wave that is totally kick ass because new metal band are pathetic these days we need to put some guys out there that can really sing and can really play

  • Let it roll - and long live UFO. There is nothing like this anymore - period.

  • Oni byli najlepsi w tamtych czasach

  • I can see why this band influenced Steve Harris, Dave Mustaine and Kirk Hammett.

  • Hell yeah! It kinda sounds like the first 2 maiden records!

  • Was trying to say that they kinda ripped it off you know...

  • 60s and 70s hard rock is wher its at!

  • GOD!

  • yes i agree it is a shame people don't write like this anymore....i can play this song though it's really fun to play and easier than i thought to learn.

  • It's like having "Strangers in the Night" come to life in video, awesome!

  • Should have been at the Amp. Great show but sound live was bad. The board caught it good!

  • shame you don't get music like this about anymore-

  • Michael Schenker is one of the reasons I bought my Black Beauty Gibson Les Paul Custom 30 years ago. It was either a guitar or a car. I bought the Gibson. I have had many cars since then but never a need to replace that guitar. Thanks for all of the music Michael. A life long admirer.

  • "...when our nerves were razor-sharp..." (as not many are these days)... Thanks, guys, for playing this rock that kicks HARD...

  • This song has a touch of classical music to it

  • great clip. One of my favorite Schenker's solos...melodic and rockin'.

  • simply wonderful...top-notch crazy steamrolling rocker shifts to sublime instrumental melody and back again. i love these guys...thanks ufo and thanks for posting this. what video source is this from?

  • i like ufo the best of hard rock 1976 liege belgium

im look 2 x live in forest national:belgium with phil mog and schencer is dead in italy in 2007

in memory for skenker the virtuose

  • Where did you hear that schenker (michael) is dead?

  • I woulda LOVE to have seen them all them years ago...

I was sooo born at the wrong time...

    =(

  • where can I get the entire show??

  • I got this concert on vhs about 18 yrs ago out of guitar world magazine

The best song from the show is Love to Love

  • are you serious? do u still have it?

  • Yes I still have it but Im sorry I checked it out again. Love to Love is only very brief. Not even maybe 20 seconds or so. Somebody somewhere has the rest. If you want a copy of the rest of the show with about 9/10 songs. email me here and I can give you the address for someone to get it from. about 5 bucks

  • holy shat!!!

  • Coming from the city that UFO calls home ( CHICAGO ) This is AWSOME !!

  • Were you there at the amp? I had bad seats, bad sound for Mike but fuk yeah!

  • Hell Yea!! took the stinky Halsted St Bus from the Northside there .. Also the song line up is totally dif if you have the re released Strangers thats the original show ...for those around the world " THE AMP "

was our version of Budokan Hall in Japan and the Hammersmith Odeon in London it was the place to be and meet friends ans see some of the best ROCK Bands around ( HEY I SEEN YOU AT THE AMP )
