  • Great Video

  • what is the difference between mainstreaming and inclusion?

  • @leemarymaui22bb

Nothing really. It's just a different word.

  • @leemarymaui22bb I think the big difference between the two is the tone of the word, Yes they both do mean the same but mainstreaming feels more negative to me. Like you are being forced to do something you don't want to. Where as inclusion there is a sense of belonging: feeling respected, valued for who you are; feeling a level of supportive energy and commitment from others so than you can do your best work.

  • @leemarymaui22bb Mainstreaming means that students with learning disabilities attending mainstream schools; not going to special education schools (segregation). Inclusive schooling means making the mainstream classroom and school an inclusive place for students with learning disabilities. Inclusion means including in the mainstream.

  • awesome... this should be the same in Primary and Secondary Schools... my son has Aspergers and I would love him tobe here

  • Great example of inclusion!!!

  • Loved, loved, loved this video. Thanks!

  • I am in training to be a secondary school math teacher, and I'd be happy to welcome children with disabilities into the classroom when I'm teaching

  • @sirmailbox It would be nice if every teacher thought like you.:)

I'm a teacher and at this moment I do a Master study "How can we impletate Inclusive education in our schools.

In Holland we have to much special education .

This video gives me a kick to "go for it"

    Great Thanks

  • A great video. It affords insights into the 'inclusive education' from the perspectives of parents, teachers and even the student. I certainly serves to reinforce the importance of non-discrimination in education as well as the rights of children to an education. One that ensures, equity, fairness and justice. I was truly moved and wish to share this and other video clips with my students to better sensitize them to benefits of embracing inclusion in their teaching-learning experiences.
