Game 1 was crucial and Manu played the rest of the series but just wasn't himself with a huge brace along with the injured arm. Spurs>Mavs matchup wise.

So I'm looking at the stats and scores of both teams for that season and everything says Spurs Deserved the title that year from any point of view within reason.

Celts got destroyed on the glass in game 7 and he would of made a difference. I think Boston is the deepest team in the nba when healthy. They will have Rondo, Delonta West, Nate Robinson, Ray Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Both O'Neals, Pekrins, and Big baby. They are 10 deep.

Kendrick perkins is a solid old school center. Glen Davis is getting steadily better. And Jermaine O'neal is good defensive insurance encase they lose someone.

Bonner struggled after the Heat game-his fg % went to 27%. Jefferson has been garbage since December. Popovich not allowing Splitter into the rotation until the game 3 was ridiculous. The defense sucked compared to the old spurs, oh and loud mouth Tony Parker couldn't play worth a damn bc Conley owned him. Mavs would prob be worse WITH Butler.

Just because they won without Butler means they were better off with him he's hard to gaurd and is tough on D. That's like saying The Grizzlies were better because Rudy Gay was hurt all playoffs. Manu sprained his elbow and hyper extended on the last game of the season which meant nothin he had to miss game one which the Spurs loss by 3. Game 1 was crucial and Manu played the rest of the series but just wasn't himself with a huge brace along with the injured arm. Spurs>Mavs matchup wise.

I'm not trashing the Spurs they are a great team with a great coaching staff, I just think the Lakers would beat them. The biggest factor I think would be their size, Lamar, Bynum, and Gasol is overwhelming compared to Blair, Duncan and Bonner.

@DeathPersonified As a Spurs fan.....I can say that he deserved it, but Manu had a strong case as well. What I hate is how people say the Spurs are boring, and without true starts, but as a true NBA fan....I want to see the 2 best teams every year....not the teams that bring the rating only, because I feel that it's been like that for 2 out of the last 3 years. Mia. vs. LAL is the so-called "Dream match-up", but we've seen that the Lakers can't hang. S.A. is getting their 5th this year.

@Trancemaster2052 I was wrong, and I can admit that, but what I also noticed is that fans of crappy teams do the most talking, and don't tell me you're a Heat or Laker fan, because you're probably not. Either way, I don't see either of them winning anything, like my Spurs, so you don't have too much of a leg to stand on. Memphis won, and I can admit that......not mad, we'll be back and better next season.

@jejesdad I'm an OKC Thunder fan, although I am also a long time Lakers fan. Yeah I'm sure the Spurs will be back next season. I was just shocked they got eliminated after dominating in the regular season. I didn't expect that to happen at all.

@Trancemaster2052 I really dont like how Pop has transitioned to small ball. We keep going after guards and 3 point shooters in the D league and over seas. That doesnt win you titles. Size and athletic players will ALWAYS beat a team that lives and dies by the 3, especially in the playoffs. See the Suns and Mavs for so many years. Soft on the inside and no one to challenge and protect the basket. Love my Spurs, but our run is over. Always love em though..THX FOR THE MEMORIES SPURS!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you Bodaicious. manu deserved the MVP more than Duncan. Shure Duncan rebounded and did well. But had it not been for Manu big 4 in game 1,2, and 7. Plus he came up big agaisnt seattle. Duncan wouldnt hit that game winner had it not been for manu fidning him.

Ginobili was consistent through the Spurs home games, woeful on the road, but it was Tim Duncan who was controlling the games, not Ginobili.

@BodaciousKlop I'm a Spurs fan, and some fans actually boo'd when Duncan won the MVP. I think Ginobili deserved it, but it could have gone either way. Tim played very well the 1st 4 games, and that pretty much won it for him.

@2pacisthebest90 You don't know jack about basketball- Duncan went right @ shaq in 03 and won. Shaq himself couldn't handle the pistons front-line in 2004. How the hell would anyone play going against a great defensive front-line like that. Btw Dunacn was playing w two sprained ankles but he never complains and makes it a storyline like a lot of other stars would. I know he's 'boring' but give respect where it's due. TD has a complete game- double teams & boards make other players look better

We are talking about team of the decade, meaning this decade not what happened 20 or 30 years ago. SA didn't even enter the nba until the 1970's. LA entered in the 1940's.
