The whole point in this game was to produce a man-made feel to the enemies (hence the Hammerites and Mechanists). Robots are reflective of what a human would make; if you were after a game with big monsters or something 'unrealistic' of what a human would make, you should have bought a different game.

theif "deadly shadows" might as well be called theif 3. Although the storyline isnt as strong as the first two titles its still a solid game. In my opinion thief 3's themes were spot on too, the fact that the ending scene was almost indentical to the first games intro was a great way to end, especially if you remeber they were going to make theif 4 in modern times!

No, they shouldn't! Thief 3 was a great game, I wouldn't say it was dumbed down. But I'd certainly love to see a Thief 4 and if the rumors are true, the guys behind Deus Ex 3 are working on it already. :) Let's hope it's true and Stephen Russel is with them.

I've got to disagree with you on that. Believe me, I'm a PC gamer too and a big fan of the first two games but I don't think it was dumbed down like Invisible War was. The maps are a bit smaller and cut in two, though the latter isn't really a problem, the loading is quick enough. The gameplay is the same, the story is great too. The third person view is optional, just like the factions. The only thing I miss is the old mission briefing with the drawings.

@Atrahasis7 i played all the thief games and thief 3 was good two. yes it lost some things along the way, but none the less it was a great game and the switch option between first and third person was the best. I hope they keep that option.
Because her and garrett hated eachother in thief 1 but im willing to bet they "got together" in thief 2... thats why they are so friendly to eachother in the later cutscenes of thief 2.. =).

Tell me another map of a game that fascinates imagination more than Constantine's Mansion. Or a level more scary than Cragscleft or Bonehoard. Or another game with such extraordinary character like Karras;a genius, businessman who wishes to kill all humans for his "mechanical paradise", while heaving the voice of Droopy.
This game is just astonishing! Looking Glass Studios created an entire world here! An entire City, a god (Master Builder), a bible! And still paying attention to details, to reflect a medieval period with technology more advanced than ours!

Hmm... interesting. The German version's Karras has a voice which is way more "powerful" and impressive. Adding to him being a leader of sorts.
But the original voice got it's flair as well. Somehow this really adds to the game (imho)... hum... one more reason to buy the original version of Thief 2 along with Thief 1 Gold ^^
Oh, and Karras had a dumb voice. And I can understand why they were mad at him. He practically rewrote the bible. In-game bible that is =P... still I didn't like the guy at all. I think the hamerites are cool, but I like the Pagans best, especialy in the 3rd game. I liked Viktoria in this game. She was cooler. Still, what also creeped my out on this level was at the beggining when stupid Karras is talking. Yuck
The robot at the end freaked me out. Anyway, I never finished the game, I just skipped levels. Every now and then I will go back and try to do a level, but not usally. I'm on the last level of this one, but the problem I'm having is that I have to go to the room with 2 robo dudes and 2 heads and 1 guard... but it's fun to get the big blue robots to come out of the wall. Just stand next to the wall and they blow themselves up trying to hit you...
Karras having the voice he had only added to the game for me personally. He sounded like an underling...a pansey. He WANTED to be thought of as a simple postulant to The Builder...a teacher, nothing more. What better way to hide his schemes? Also have to agree that the "Sabotage at Soulforge" absolutely rocks. Hard, yes, but I completed it on Expert without killing anything, so it's far from impossible. A perfect end to a perfect game.

I always thought it was because he used to be a Hammerite Monk and he didn't use his voice very often. When he decided to start talking, his voice ended up sounding like that from atrophy.

the only thief game I havent finished is the first. I actually found the 2nd to be harder than the 3rd. That last level in the metal age was intense
