  • @starletteyin This isn't a Shakuhachi (Chiba in Chinese). It's a Chinese end-blown flute, the Xiao. Albeit the Shakuhachi also came from ancient China....it's gotten more popular in Japan. If you care for more info, the name Shakuhachi is Chinese. H used to be B and CH used to be T in old Japanese. So it was Shakubati, a pronunciation of the Middle Chinese Chaek-bat. The u and i are placeholders and are more or less silent. In Mandarin, the k and t became silent over time, now it's just Chiba.
