Ok. We need the oil, the alberta sands have around 2 trillion barrels of oil in place (according to shell canada), - a huge resource. If we dig it up, we destroy forest, if we don't, we lose this massive resource. What do we do? We're digging up the oil now, about a tenth of it is recoverable that way but most of it is recoverable by injecting steam, and pumping out the oil. This significantly reduces forest damage and will take over, but they need to do it now not later......
This is such a great video, thank you and please keep working to show this destruction! I'm using part of the video and doing what I can to spread the word!

The people who made this are American. They've never been to Canada.
I've lived in Nothern Canada. You have no clue how large Northern Canada is if you complain that the tarsands eats up an area as big as Florida or England.
That is a drop in the buck for Northern Canada. We have so much wilderness, in 10 years the extracted areas will have reverted to forest again.
KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOSING: The boreal region is the collection of the eight Canadian boreal eco-zones , at least it was before the TAR SANDS. While the biodiversity of regions varies, each eco-zone is rich in native flora and fauna, a place where we gather our Native Medicines. Ever see the movie Medicine Man??
@fortmcmurraycash I wish you luck! I wish there were more jobs for you! I hope our country gets out of its congressional head lock and finds the money to create jobs. Stops breaking the employers who are cutting all the more.
Neither Alex Jones nor Jeff Rense have covered these issues enough. They seem to be tired of hearing from me alone. Evidently, the only way to get them to do so is for EVERYONE to increase the level of our complaints....
Where are the 'environmentalists' now. Did they all die a thousand cuts, as Al Gore did in Copenhagen?
@fortmcmurraycash That may be so, but your argument doesn't make it right to continue on living this way when we know what we're doing is destroying the earth and making people sick. Is that how you justify it? Is that how you sleep @ night? There are hundreds of clean alternatives to fossil fuels for which the patents have been bought out by oil companies. Engines that run on water for pete's sake! It's real! But we keep sucking @ the teat of big oil. Will you damn someone for speaking out?

Let's stand in solidarity and Stand in strength, and display our courage to not let this ruinous pipeline prevail! We can do advocate & beat this together!!!
It has come to my attention that the statistic that the Tar Sands generates 36 million tons of CO2 per day, quoted in my video at the tar sands action website may be incorrect. The source was Greenpeace: / I will check it and get back to you- Josh
I am crying right now..I have been involved in the environmental movement for years..the systematic destruction of our home, earth, is breaking my heart.
@ericaut42 .... Christ.... ! exactly. I've been trying to get this posted on Huff Post main "Political" tab site. There was a "Green" tab at top of home page that they moved to a drop down menu on "Political" tab. Problem is, tho they have covered the tarsandsaction protest on their Green tab, Green always has only a few to maybe as much as 2 or 3 hundred comments on any topic at any given time.

Facts-Tar Sands via Pete Williamson/CC
The tar sands project is irreversibly destroying an area of ancient Boreal Forest the size of England.
The tar sands uses more water than a city of two million people
The tar sands produces 36 million tons of carbon dioxide per day. It emits the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as 1.3 million cars
Waste water from the tar sands is stored in toxic lakes which leak 11 million liters every day into drinking water for local Native communities

I applaud your effort. Though if BP is an example of how he handles a crisis...It doesn't look good.
